I’m dark skin. I’m not crying for John Stewart to be darker. I want Aaron to be John Stewart because he would literally fit the role and from a business standpoint, he can put butts in seats because everyone is falling in love with him. He’s talented AND has presence. I want DCU to be successful! I’m. I’m not here to cry about silly colorism issues right now. This just isn’t the one right now. And ain’t nothing a little time out in the sun can’t do! People acting like he’s super light skin… I hate the internet sometimes

@@JOYBOYTEO you act like he’s Michael Ealy light skin, he’s not. I need yall to stop and just let the man be great, and let the DCU be great. He’s a great pick. Can we not get in our own way here? He can go ahead and bake in the sun for a bit. It’s really not that serious, we have more representation than we’ve ever had before. Enough bitching

I agree that I think John Stewart should be darker skin. It’s not racism, it’s about lack of representation and a belief in Hollywood that darker skinned people aren’t attractive enough or whatever to play popular main roles. However I’m not pressed about it, I will watch whoever plays the roll and be happy lol. To be fair there has been a lot of darker skinned actors playing in marvel rolls. However none have been as important as John Stewart besides black panther. On another note I would like to see Aaron play Martian Manhunter. Lol he’s just as big as David who is playing Superman. Don’t think john Stewart is supposed to be as big as Superman.

Blacks by the way in Hollywood are over represented and most black actors in Hollywood are dark skin.

Most characters for marvel live action have remain dark skin blacks so that part is true. For dc is less so,on average but overall most characters for comicbook live action are played by dark skin actors.

It's odd how Pierre has been a rumored frontrunner for weeks but this criticism has seemingly only sprouted up and spread in the past two days. It doesn't seem organic, and it completely ignores any other considerations such as acting ability or screen testing for chemistry that go into casting a role. Also, the prominent casting of Eddie Gathegi as Mr. Terrific in the Superman movie contradicts notions that colorosm plays into DC Studios' casting process.

It is completly fair to be upset that Jon Stewart is not played by a dark skin man. There are not alot of high profile black men in hollywood and very few are dark skin. Just because we are all black does not mean, we all look alike. The character has been dark skin consistently for all of its existence. So dark skinned people have a rigth to be upset.

Ultimately it’s not a big deal, but it does kind of suck for dark skinned men that DC is casting yet another black male super hero with a light skinned actor. It’s also like WB does not see dark skinned men as heroic.
Honestly it annoys me more Gunn is casting a Brit over an American. There aren’t many black roles and African American actors keep getting passed over black British.

There are more dark or darker skin families shown on tv in america then light skin blacks.Dark skin blacks are the majority of blacks in america. Now over times light skin and bi-racial black light skin families have been shown more often then they were in the past but dark skin blacks have been shown more still in american beauty commercials and tv shows and are still shown more in america.

So there are plenty of dark skin actors in roles in Hollywood. You tend see more black medium tone and black light skin women more then medium tone and light skin black men but most of the black actress are dark skin. You tend see more dark skin black men then dark skin women however in Hollywood roles. Dark skin actress still get most of roles in america.

So yes there is still colorism to a certain extent in hollywood because hollywood is in america(this should be obvious because of america's race history problems and whites are still the major group, duh) and that needs still to be dealt with but don't go overboard to say it's in full effect because it's not. Most black actors are still dark skin, more so the men however. Lighter and medium tone skin actress are just happening to apply more for roles and more are being qualified for it but most of the actresses still in hollywood are dark skinned.By the way some actress and actors you are calling light skin are not really light skin at all. Some are medium tone skin blacks.

As a black person who watched pretty much every black family show from the 80’s up to the kids 00’s… this is absolutely not true.
The darkest black family on TV was probably the Evans from Good Times followed by the Winsloes from Family Matters and it has only gotten lighter from there.
