Stratovarius, the top name in the melodic power metal scene, are back with a new album - with some fresh and some very rare material!
“ENIGMA: Intermission 2” features three brand new songs as well as, for the first time in the band’s history, four beautifully arranged orchestral versions of popular Stratovarius songs. The album is similar in concept to “Intermission”, released 17 years ago between “Infinite” and “Elements” the sense that these seven tracks made in 2018 are completed by nine very rare, very hard to find power metal gems.
With over 30 minutes of brand new material and 50 minutes of previously rare metal, “ENIGMA: Intermission 2” is definitely more killer than filler!
Take “Enigma” and “Oblivion” for example, fresh from the studio in 2018 and most definitely two killer songs. Both combine an epic melody with a bombastic chorus and heavy riffs for Stratovarius’ trademark sound and remind of “Unbreakable” from their 2013 album “Nemesis”, the most streamed song in the band’s history.
Or “Kill it with Fire” and “Castaway”, two epic and full blown power metal tracks that were previously only heard by Japanese fans.
The sweeping melodic power metal grandeur of Stratovarius, together with Timo Kotipelto's powerful yet emotional voice, is very much present on all of the 80 minutes of this release. This spirit truly makes “ENIGMA: Intermission 2” closer to a full new studio album than to a mere compilation.

Cawvidae thanks, i did some edits, the lyrics make more sense now, but i can’t hear the ”to” in the ”Hard i try to carry on” part that you suggested so i’m gonna leave it as ”you”
I have heard this song a lot and I agree with one of your original lyrics, these are the things I think would make more sense in the song:
I looked to myself in silence - I think its "I locked myself in silence"
And kept denying That you're already gone
Isolated in the darkness for too long (This is the reason why I think is "locked" instead of looked to as in isolated in some dark place).
I can’t save you - I think that actually he says "can't" the first 2 times, but then says "can" at the end, to me he is trying to tell her that he cant save her, that she should carry on without him, but in the end he says he "can" save her, and his way of doing so is to let her fade into oblivion and meeting him after he prepares her mentally for it in the first 2 verses and makes sense with the change of "time has come to let you go" to "Now its time to let you go". To me this song is about preparing someone dear to you for the inevitable end, preparing them and explaining why you cant save them, and in the end, giving them that last confort, telling them in the final moment that you can actually save them (as in be with them), if you go together to the oblivion.

You carry on (Its important to notice that "You carry on" should be separated from "How hard I try" with at least a coma.
And leave the world behind - I think he actually says "Go and leave the world behind" I think I hear him repeating the word "Go" after "time has come to let you go", this would make sense in the theme of him telling her to go.
English is not my main tongue, so I can always be wrong. Thanks a lot for these lyrics, I couldnt actually make sense of some of the things he says in the song just by hearing it and you are totally right in most of the words in those lyrics.

English isn't my main tongue either, i'm finnish myself and i have noticed that Timo has a surprisingly big finnish accent when he sings so that makes it a bit harder to understand some of the lyrics, but i think we got this one pretty good.
You are welcome! I also forgot to add that I think its "I'm trying to fight this sadness on my own" instead of "I'm tied to find this sadness on my own". This would also make sense with the tone of the song of him trying to deal with the situation alone.

Es mí deseo que esta extraordinaria banda sea considerada ya uno de los pilares fundamentales de la escena, pocas bandas logran reflejar calidad y proyección en el tiempo con cada una de sus obras... Eterno Stratovarius.... Desde sus inicios....
Como si no lo fuera ya. Jaja, a mi parecer si lo es Junto a Rhapsody, Epica y me atreveria a decir que hasta Sonata Arctica, pero también creo que se estas últimas bandas se comercializaron un poco en años recientes.
Aún así me atrevería a comparar a Stratovarius con King Crimson, en el aspecto de como definieron su genero musical y su importancia para la escena que representan.
Lo son en su país, ellos junto con Sonata Arctica, Nightwish, y hasta Children of Bodom definieron el sonido del metal fines, Epica es mucho más contemporaneo.
Theantarex Si hablamos de Metal Finés no puedes olvidarte de Amorphis y Lordi. Entonces sustituye a Epica por Amorphis y ahí tienes el "Lineup". Quizás y se me estén olvidando algunos otros grupos. Pero creo son los más importantes de la escena del metal en su país.

What I love about Stratovarius is that each song has such a feeling that you can pinpoint exactly what album it belongs to; it's like every album has a specific feel to it, so you can listen to a song you haven't heard before and immediately go “yes, this song belongs to Enigma” for example. It's something unique I haven't experienced with any other metal band
No high note screams but this is EPIC, this is the first time i get to listen to a new Stratovaruis album i only listened to their old stuff, i'm glad i got to live the moment.
Once again Stratovarius shows us what quality they can produce. After so many excellent records and they still keeps it fresh is extraordinary! Stratovarius is forever

@@Sigfried83 en el album de revolution renaissance de stratovarius no salio oficial . pero puedes encontrar temas aqui en youtube con versiones de otros cantantes como michael kiske y el cantante de avantasia
Buena cancion, se siente algo la escencia de Nemesis aqui, lo unico que no me cuadra es el hecho de que el sello discografico este obligando al parecer a sacar discos recopilatorios o remasters para hacer que se pase el tiempo, en vez de que Stratovarius saque un nuevo disco con contenido completamente nuevo, ah y para la gente que cree que Strato sin Tolkki no es nada solo les digo esto, Tolkki no saca un disco desde el 2014-15 y su estado es delicado, si Tolkki hubiera seguido en la banda lo mas probable es que la banda hubiera muerto, con sus constantes composiciones recicladas e inestabilidad como persona, en fin buena cancion les deseo lo mejor a Tolkki y a al Strato actual.
según varias fuentes la banda sacara un álbum el próximo año, esto es de sacar álbums recopilatorios es normal en bandas de Europa, sirve para saber si tienen buenas ventas para próximos álbums de las bandas

No creo todo lo que dices. Para mí, Tolkki era Stratovarius, ahora la banda es una fracción de lo que fue, y si ha logrado sobrevivir, es gracias al enorme esfuerzo que hacen sus miembros para mantenerse. Por ello, les sigo escuchando una que otra canción, pero incomparables con la genialidad de Tolkki.
Pero es verdad, Stratovarius era la vision de tolkki, eso es claro. pero strato no hubiera sido strato sin kotipelto o johanson. igualmente aunque quisieran hacer un nuevo visions o destiny no tendría el mismo impacto que tuvo en los 90.. los tiempos y gustos cambiaron. a mi me gusto que siguieran evolucionando en sonido. hoy en dia me aburriría que saquen un nuevo visions o destiny.

Stratovarius es como el oro, hermoso pero difícil de encontrar. Esta banda no deja de sorprenderme y si no es famosa es porque no todo el mundo sabe apreciar la buena música y ahora todo lo que componen lo hacen más por ganar dinero, que por generar conciencia como en muchas de sus letras STRATOVARIUS lo ha hecho...saludos a todos desde Ecuador y aguante el power metal!

I know nothing about mastering, but I felt like Eternal had certain mix that made the vocals very off, sometimes even the choir sounded higher than Timo's vocals. Nemesis, on the other hand, had this very balanced. Also, the snare on the drums here sounds a little similar to Nemesis aswell. Since I don't know about sound and stuff I don't know how to describe it, but I like it as is a little more "reverberant", even more than Nemesis. I like that in a mix.

I don't like drum mixes since Jörg departure from the band. In this case it still lacks presence and that touch of epic massive drum sound. Keyboards are alright but voice and drums sound light and out of power and for me that is a silly mistake in the Power Metal scene.
I agree with you with the drums stuff, Rolf is a demon, a monster in the drums, but the sound in the latest albums it feel very lighter, but the drums of Jörg were more heavy, and it was appreciated and enjoyed more, because it reflected the strength of both a man and the band in that golden years. but I clarify, I have no complaints of rolf, I think an incredible musician. ♥

I'm amazed how Stratovarius has been able to improve over the years and also overcome the departure from Tolkki. They sound more modern and fresh than ever with old and new elements blended together perfectly.
