- You Haven't Called is the second single to be released from UB40’s forthcoming new album ‘For The Many’.
‘You Haven’t Called’ was written by UB40 founding member, co-vocalist and guitarist Robin Campbell, and features his younger brother Duncan Campbell on lead vocals.
Robin said, “I wrote ‘You Haven’t Called’ over 20 years ago, specifically for a solo album Duncan was recording in Jamaica. It was meant to be a nod to the cool ruler Gregory Isaacs in the style of ‘Night Nurse’ and ‘The Border’. Duncan loved the track, but his producer at the time had other ideas, so the song never made it beyond the demo stage.
“I’ve always harboured a desire to record the song and when I played the demo to the rest of the band everybody loved it, so we decided to rerecord it for our new album.”
The single comes with track’s radio edit, a dub mix and two collaboration versions; the first features Birmingham band KIOKO’s front man Matt Doyle on lead vocals, and the second features Birmingham rapper Gilly G. Both are taken from a special collaborations edition of UB40’s new album ‘For The Many’, alongside a further dub version of the album, both of which will be released later in 2019.

I've been a fan of UB40 since day one, I'm 58 now, I've got a son and 6 daughters, my youngest daughter's are twins and the only ones that don't get a chance to see UB40 in concert, Brian travers gave my sister the inspiration to learn the sax,i can't believe that robin wud hold back such a great song for 20yrs, I'm so glad that he decided to share it with us all,ali is the only person that sings brilliant even when he's live an i want my twins to experience him in concert but i think that song was ment for duncan, he made me realise UB40 might have gone different ways but will always be the best band ever, God bless Brian and astro ,

I've listened to ub40 since 79 and I can honestly say that this version of the band is very poor without ALI ASTRO AND MICKEY, Just a suggestion but listen to older ub40 tracks and you will hear the difference, I've seen them live well over 20 times but this version of the band are average at best, listen to the work ALI ASTRO AND MICKEY have recently done and you will see and hear the quality Robin and Duncan sadly are missing..

i had the pleasure to go to one of ub40 concerts in philadelphia with my husbandfor my bday amazing i will never forget sang all our songs it was a beautiful night mellow fun happy lots of love around 2007-2008 i think but very memoriable, just growing up listening to them in africa and then experiencing live!!! Love you!!

The musical quality demonstrated here is absolutely superb, crisp and warm staccato chords, unmistakable velvety horns that cannot be imitated by anyone but UB40, stuck line on guitar, powerful drums and clean distinctive vocals.
This is pure quality and proper authentic reggae.

Since Labour of Love 4 I just think they're getting better and better and for any Ali fans I'm also loving his stuff I just wish they would all play together as one truly amazing band but sadly I can't see it ever happening. They could do the Sunday night slot at Glastonbury.......if they started about 2pm they maybe able to fit a few hits in by the close of the weekend. They are one of the most under rated British Bands of all time and I never tire of what they produce.

I have been a loyal fan since I first heard Ub40 back in 1979. The original line up had something special and made amazing music, and I was sad that Ali decided to leave the line up. BUT... Ali alone did not make the band it was a joint effort by everyone and I think all true Ub40 fans would would respect Ali's wishes to leave the band. I have continued to go to see the new UB40 line up and saw them last night in Southend Essex. Duncan is doing an amazing job and the band put on a fantastic crowd pleasing performance playing some of their greatest hits from 1980 to present day including a couple of tracks from the latest album "For the many". I am going to see Ali and Astro on 2nd August this year and cannot wait . Thank you all for the wonderful music you have made, it has been and continues to be the sound track to my life. Keep making that sweet reggae music....all of you

@@SmartRobot-wc2fb Unfortunately in 2007/2008 the lead singer Ali Campbell left the band. Then a few years after that keyboard player Mickey Virtue and the other singer Astro joined him. There were many legal battles and a lot of acrimony. And both bands now use the UB40 title. Hope that helps
@@dusivri5882 Yes, it did help. Thank you. I thought they'd left the band later (around 2012/2014)...Well, it's sad that happened but creatively UB40 is somehow a dead band. They did almost everything it was supposed to creatively within their style/genre. Don't get me wrong, I've always loved the band, specially during their 'hey day', but UB40 without Ali Campbell's iconic voice isn't just the same...

They both still make great music but you're right ... it's kind of not the same. I bought all their early stuff and saw them live many times,,, but over the last ten years just listened from afar really. Not as engaged as I once was ... :-)

@@mrteabaguk Ali and Astro make up 25% of Ub40 so compare that to the 62.5% of the band here plus the 2 long time musicians Lawrence and Pikey plus all the backline staff and lets not forget that the 5 Ub40 members here wrote all the songs and played the important instruments and you really don t have a leg to stand on
