Thank you for this very informative video, this shows that apple does not fall very far from the tree. I loved the series on the itv about lady langtree as well who was also a mistress of this king.
Perhaps so, and then the men Edward VII & Charles III who used them have a lot to be ashamed of! Charles at least was a once-only, and then in the situation of an "arranged" marriage foisted on him, while he loved his mistress. I think also that King Charles III is the first King of England who had the decency to marry his mistress (am I wrong?). Alice may not have anything to be proud of, as you say, but she was also a victim of a King who used and abused MANY women, mistresses and girlfriends (and their cuckold husbands). Alice was only one in a long line, and his treatment of her was nothing for her to be ashamed of either. Meanwhile, Queen Alexandra's suffering must have been most - she was daily humiliated and shamed. Judging the women harshly is like the Christian tendency to see Eve as the guilty temptress in the Garden of Eden, forgetting that Adam made his own moral decisions when picking apples. 😂 I'm a male, but I hate this notion of seductress, scheming women. Wallis Simpson gets the same treatment, and Edward VIII was her prey. Nonsense if you read their letters. I don't really see any of them as having much to be proud or ashamed of. And it's not for me to judge anyway.
Even more implausible was his voracious sexual appetite - he even invented a special chair, a sex-aid so that he was still able to enjoy his prostitutes in Paris despite his extreme obesity 😂. At least his amazing greed for food did not harm others, because his amoral, voracious sexual greed harmed the women he used for his gratification (and their cuckold husbands). Queen Alexandra's forbearance was amazing, but her suffering didn't bother the King. This was also not the behaviour expected from a man who swore to be Defender of the (Christian) Faith, Head of the Church of England. 😂 Did he never hear of the 10 Commandments? A sleaze-bag.
Wasn't the Kepple family originally of Dutch origin? I believe their surname used to be "van Kepple" if I am not mistaken. I do not believe they are related in any way to the noble & aristocratic Capell/ Capel family with Royal gleanings. The first William Capell traveled to England from France with William the Conqueror in 1066. The late Princess Diana Spencer was a direct descendant of Mary (Capell) Somerset. I am a descendant through Mary C. Somerset's brother. So, that makes us collateral distant cousins through my late mother's paternal direct lineage.
Yes I've often wondered how, if at all, the specific family connection went with ARNOLD JOOST van KEPPEL, who was a Dutch and later English nobleman, later First Earl of Albermarle. He was a very flamboyant and colourful man who was a long-time "personal companion" and Master of the Robes of Dutch King William III - to such an extent that there were constant innuendos and rumours at Court as to the exact nature of the King's relationship with this Dutch 'boyfriend'.
Wow, that is awesome. Here in America, no one understands respect to a President. trump humiliated Queen Elizabeth, he is why no one respects authority anymore. he has ruined the world.
@@gertyrood Yes, I've suspected that for a long time too, as you see in my comment, but I've never seen 'hard' evidence, as it were. In Dutch it was definitely 'Keppel' because we don't have the 'ple' as it would be pronounced. But the landholdings that King William generously gifted him in Gelderland were significant and still the pride of Gelderland. All the evidence and writings at the time refer to Joost van Keppel not just as 'one of his male 'friends' as you say, but as a very particular friend, no need for inverted commas. 😂. At that time men were away from their wives on military campaign for months at a time and such friendships were not unusal. The King and Keppel were inseparable according to Court records and on military campaigns, and Keppel's highly flamboyant presence could not be missed. William and Mary were both still children when they were married, not yet even at an age to consummate, so it looks like they formed their close married relationship almost platonically at first. But the subsequent co-regnancy worked well, with William mostly on campaigns in Ireland etc., and the popular Mary running the realm back home. Purcell's music for them revealed the people's affection, but with resentment on both sides. In England he was "Dutch King William" and in the Dutch Republic he was seen as "that English Stadhouder" who did not spend enough time in the Dutch Republic (after all, genetically he was much more English than Dutch!). As i recall their child died in infancy and/or Mary had numerous miscarriages. Either way, their lack of heirs changed the tide of history, not only in England but also in the Dutch Republic. His lack of children means that our current King Willem-Alexander is not a direct descendant of William the Silent as claimed but from a Friesian side-branch not really 'Orange'. Very interesting man ...😂 It's tempting to see Queen Camilla even today as an echo of Dutch King Billy and his special friend.
Alice Keppel was such a great beauty and so is the woman who used to be on Eggheads. What happened to Camilla? All beauty seems to have been sidelined to another branch of the Keppels.
How are we sure that Sonia was the daughter of Alice's husband if there were no DNA tests? I read where Alice and her husband were not together at the time Alice became pregnant with Sonia, and that she was the daughter of the POW. Also, is that stamp with the profile of the late Queen, with Alice and Sonia real?
This woman was extremely beautiful and discreet compared to Edward himself. The word “raunchy” is maddening. I am however against promiscuity of the aristocracy. I regret that the British people cannot influence whom among the reigning dynasty retains the crown. Edward was unfit, and Charles is unfit on the basis of his terrible personal history with Diana.
I would like to know what job opportunities, you think, a woman of her status could get. Lower class women could menial jobs with low pay. Middle class women were not allowed to work for money.
Charles and Camilla deserve each other they just shouldn't be wearing a crown on their head. Nothing to look up about to either one of these derelicts.
Wow, she even looks like Camilla! The lips and eyes are very similar. But one thought: there is one slide that says, "Alice Keppel" but it's actually Winston Churchill and his wife Clementine. Alice Keppel's daughter Sonia was a lesbian who was forced by her mother into a disastrous marriage to a young noblewas annulled annulled.
She was not raunchy! She was a classy aristocrat who managed King Edward so well that she became the private liaison between his courtiers and him. She was the king's companion for years and was acknowledged on his frequent trips to France as his social hostess. Queen Alexandra asked her to come to the palace and tell the king good-bye when he was dying. The arrangement suited them all at the time. You should get your facts right before you make a video for TH-cam maligning someone. Shame on you!!
Oh dear. What books you been reading. Great grandma hit the sack and had the knickers off at drop of a hat. Let’s keep it real and what it is. They were a family of whores.
Camilla has the same disease or great-grandmother had she loved other women's husbands the Apple doesn't fall far from the tree Camilla is just like her grandmother a mistress in waiting
Well you said it more politely than me being a tramp runs in the family. But now the biggest Tramp has a crown on her head LOL. The only thing I can say is that her great-grandmother was a lot prettier than her.

12 meals a day for Edward VII? Literally one every 90 minutes during waking hours? Sounds implausible.

Princess Diana and Queen Alexandra both had horrible husbands with narcissistic mistresses.

Camilla her great granddaughter was a tomboy too. SHe hung out with the boys learning everything she could which made men happy.
Just an American POV, but Camilla as queen is just cheap! I'm old enough to remember the marriage to Diana. No credibility left to the monarchy.

Because, Bertie had an affair with his mother

The best place for Keppell and her great granddaughter is the Bunny Ranch!
You labeled a picture of Clementine Churchill with her husband, Winston, as being Alice Keppel. Terrible Faux Pas…😮
These women of loose morals are gross. Like Alice and Camilla.
Well, a Queen of England, descendant of a loose woman. Makes sense.
The Kings of England (notably maybe not the incumbent) are, in the main, descendants of even looser men.
So it all fits nicely, yes.
What about loose men? You always leave nasty comments. I don't even know why you watch
