@@Outlaw.cinema Just to be certain, I took another look. I'm sorry, but you are wrong. Don't let the biological nomenclature fool you. Mountain lions aren't found only on mountains, seahorses aren't really horses, and killer whales aren't really whales. River otters are frequently found in coastal ocean waters, usually near freshwater sources. They are common near streams and rivers which empty into the ocean, and where docks are present where they take advantage of human presence: i.e. food scraps, fish guts, et cetera. In Tofino, go to just about any ocean dock and odds are you will see river otters nearby swimming among the pilings. I'd bet good money that there is a river or stream emptying into the ocean close to where you filmed those otters. River otters are far more agile on land than sea otters. This is apparent from your video. Sea otter's heads and faces are also very different from river otters, with river otters being sleeker and sea otters being furrier and often appearing to have a moustache. But the easiest way to tell those are river otters from that distance is by their tails. A sea otter's tail is short and flat. A river otter's tail is long, slender, somewhat conical and pointed. River otters are far more abundant on Vancouver Island than sea otters. Sea otters are fairly new to Vancouver Island after they were hunted to local extinction during the 1800s and barely survived in Alaska and Northern BC. It's only since the 1980s that they have started to repopulate Vancouver Island. They have still not repopulated the southern Pacific Coast since they were hunted to near extinction. But there is a paradox. Aside from rare, brief respites to land to groom or rest, sea otters do in fact, live almost exclusively in the ocean, whereas river otters do not live exclusively in rivers. If you see an otter on land, the odds are heavily in favour of it being a river otter. Take care.
