Tough situation especially if you want to keep those in the rattlers which I know I would want to. With raw silver coins I dip them in 100% acetone. It will not hurt silver coins but has to be 100% acetone and clear. Not some mix like in blue fingernail polish remover. I've done it and had coins graded without any issues at all. I like old holders so again a tough situation but cool to see. Thanks for sharing.
Unfortunately pvc is a common problem when put in the wrong holder for a long period of time, ive used acidtone dip for no more then 30 seconds on silver coins and use a q tip and gently rub them and it seems to help, but everyone has their own methods, good luck and keep collecting, its the best hobby in the world, been collecting for almost 50 years now.
I think its important to note not all haze is pvc. Ive seen haze show up on coins after being in cellophane as well. It (to me) looks more bluish and it doest seem to come off with acetone like PVC seems to do. Just ny experience with haze and trying to determine what it is. Because like you ill see that CAC coins that have true views where said haze is apparent. There is also toning that looks like PVC but is just the first stages of color.
This was such a touch call with the 35 that came back with PVC damage. On the one hand the rattler was my desired holder there, but on the other hand my understanding is that PVC will just keep eating at the coin until it's removed. Kind of a bummer all around
I would recommend cracking these out yourself and giving a 2 second dip in Ezest with a thorough rinse in distilled water then light pat dry on paper towel. If you do conservation they’ll charge you probably $90 which for these coins won’t be worth it. Or even better just sell them and move on and find another pair in rattlers that don’t have pvc
I already have a couple of coins going in for restoration so it would only end up being $10 or so to have them restored, plus all the other fees, probably only worth it on the 65, which I think has a good chance at 67.
I don't know where you got that info but you are wrong. PCGS holders have never contained PVC. The problems is that back in the early 80's PVC wasn't recognized as damage unless it was green.
Great question! Maybe some of the gold series due to expense? I usually sort of hop from type to type depending on interest or availability. I would say I have done a good bit of exploring a lot of different US types.

Definitely a tough call
Their are many videos on you-tube on how to clean PVC off coins without doing more damage . But you have to get it off the coins.

rattlers have pvc in them so they can continue to get damaged in the future.

Is there a coin/series that you really want to get into but haven’t yet?
