      ...any way, going .....and about half way through- .....Im in interesting forms of expression....and its experience, as a whole, material - that take my feelings and then thoughts....
      nice,
      I like it

    Support the job on a block of wood , that bounce is taking away at least 1/2of your force.

    It will be good to support the part close to the pin hole with a wooden piece. Apart from unnecessary transverse movement, it would also prevent bending stress at the root of the component where it is supported.

    That thing bouncing all around was pure pain. Reshoot this the proper way and post it. And once the screwdriver is put in the top, no need to run it up the bottom. The pin will align everything up on the way in.

    This video really helped me; I stopped biting my nails, and I pulled the crappy nails and screws out of my old hammer, brushed the head with a wire brush and lubed it, put in a new hammer shaft and a solid wedge. Soaked it in walnut oil for a few days and VOILA. My life is a lot better :D

    Thanks. I looked everywhere on the web for how to fit this type of pin in a door handle! I suspected the only way was to use a hammer but didn’t want to try without knowing for sure. Also, I couldn’t get the pin in the other handle but your basic screwdriver wiggle action has helped me work out how to align it properly!

    I ran into this one on the wheel of a pallet jack the other day. I didn't have a small enough punch so I used a C-clamp, a screw and a nut to get one of these out. On one side of the C-Clamp i had the screw, and the nut was to give the pin someplace to go. I knew as soon as I got it started it would pop ring out with a pair of channel locks. I just needed that quarter inch. Unfortunately I launched the thing halfway across the warehouse as soon as it gave way. I said "to hell with it" and replaced it with a bent nail for now.

    When I saw the yoke bouncing in the vise upon every hammer blow, then the angle grinder cut-off wheel minus the wheel guard, that was enough for me. Time to move on.

    • @Nzchimeran

      also i have this issue on a Weber carburetor fuel spigot. It is a blind hole, 2mm diameter, drilling is risky.

      @Zack-id1xo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Drill

    • @ashwilliams4989
      @ashwilliams4989 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Zack-id1xo I found a better solution.
      To remove the Slotted Spring Pin just fill the hole in which it is mounted with oil or a thin grease to about 1/4 the depth of the hole.
      Then choose a minimally smaller diameter pin punch and hit it with a hammer. Pin punch will act as a piston and will spring oil which will push out the slotted spring pin from hole. Note: The pin drift must fit tightly in the sllottego spring pin (hole)! Wear safety goggles and cover the hole with a cloth to shield yourself from the gushing oil.

      Other than not having his work closer to the vise (which caused a lot of unnecessary bounce), the rest of the advice seemed fine. Cut the pin down, drive it through the shaft to remove it, simple stuff (once it is freed if frozen in the shaft).

    Not so easy when you're trying to reinstall the roll pin under a dash, to reconnect your stearing column to a rack and pinion.
    I see 50 "easy methods" of removal and installation of these pins, on everything you can name.... where you have room to swing a hammer, etc... Someone pleeeease show me one in a tight, hard to reach area. Not to critique your video, but anyone could eventually figure that out, or any pin, that they have easy access to. Its the not so easy access ones that are the problem.

    • @flyguy807
      @flyguy807 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok all you critical ' tourists' ; if it is so easy to do, where is your " method" on video??!

    • @runamuckretreatmccarthy1554
      @runamuckretreatmccarthy1554 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@flyguy807 , do a search for "install roll pin" and 50 "easy methods" will come up. And in those videos, they are easy... cause the areas its being installed has all kinds of room to work. The jobs they're doing can easily be done in 5 min or less, using a pair of vice grips and a hammer, kind of like I did under a steering wheel, behind a break peddle.... except there was no room to swing a hammer.

      Sorry bud not trying to be rude, it was one of those days, I had a problem and had to figure it out. So I turned to TH-cam. The tittle of your video is misleading though. Ya might wanna change it to " drive thru method" or something. I have come upon the problem before when the pin needs to be removed, but can't be driven thru because of solid surface on the other side. The pins are hardened so its hard to drill it! I did get the pin out, by the way. Have a good day!!!
