Im seriously considering to get one of these. Still in doubt between the 53 and the 66.I really like the 66 but Im afraid is too big to be my first yacht. But definitely the Magellano line has the style I want.

WOW! At it's most economic speed of 7.3 knots each engine is only consuming 5.7 liters of fuel per hr. That translates into 2.8 miles per gallon and with a fuel capacity of 845 gallons that's a staggering range of 2,366 nautical miles on a single tank of fuel in the perfect conditions. Unbelievable for a 55 ft. yacht! Would love to head out from Charleston, SC and explore up the east coast to Quebec and Newfoundland even all the way to Greenland and back in one of these. Azimut is the best!!!

Well, at 1.6 litres per mile and a capacity of 3200 litres, the theoretical range is 2000 miles. I would not want to bet my life on achieving that. It would take you a week and a half to go that far, so you would probably plan to go in shorter stages. Unless you live in the middle of the Pacific, it probably has the range to take you most places you want to go
Of course, if you really wanted to extend the range, you can do what we do in my part of the world, which is carry fuel in Nitrile bags on the side decks. I have a couple of 400 gallon bags, about 12 ft long, On this boat that is at least another 1000 miles, so San Francisco to Hawaii in about 10 days with plenty spare.
As you can see on the official Azimut 66 promo, they claim the range to be 900 miles at 9 knots, so it's almost impossible to believe that the smaller boat with lesser fuel capacity can cover twice as much.

Would this be ok to travel out in the open ocean. How would it cope if caught in a storm??

@@darthkek1953 Actually, as far as I know, the Mag 53 is B rated. It's the earlier Mag 50 that is A rated.
