    Wow. These are nice. I’ve never had the urge to get a lathe, but at last I’ve seen somethings that inspire me.

      I'm dead set tempted...
      A little busy with shed rearranging and pergola addition at the moment.
      You guys stock all that gear, I take it?

      @@SMee67 We sure do, Bill! Take some time out from the pergola building and have some fun. The shed rearrangement is a complete waste of time too. After all, we all know what happens...it'll only get messy again.... hehehehe....

      You can talk to the missus about putting the pergola on hold, good luck!
      The shed isn't messy, just not flowing right.😉

    Using accelerator on normal thin CA can cause any remaining ponding CA to turn white. This is commonly known as blooming, so just let it dry naturally, it will not take long.

    Superglue accelerator - activator is just baking soda dissolved in a distilled water... Yeap... you can make it by yourself.

    • @timbeconaus
      @timbeconaus  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Fastcap accelerator is actually something called N,N-dimethyl-p-toluidine in an acetone carrier. Without the accelerator, the glue goes off because of the presence of hydroxl ions in the moisture on the surfaces and surrounding air. Baking soda increases the amount of these ions when dissolved. Apparently, N,N-dimethyl-p-toluidine does something different (although this is beyond our seventh-form chemistry understanding!)
      We've played with different formulations and have found that water by itself does next to nothing; baking soda is OK (but can go cloudy) and does make a good filler at the cost of some bond strength, whereas the official accelerator is by far the fastest and has minimal whitening etc.

      @@timbeconaus A very professional and respectful reply - a big thank you. Not sure why some people want to try to blow the candle out 🤷‍♂
