Thanks. The previous alarms were pretty quiet so nice to see a change. Any crossing with a reasonably high pedestrian footfall and moderately busy road should have loud alarms like these in my opinion.
I heard from the signaller it was done due to people ignoring or not hearing the warnings and taking risks. This crossing seem to get quite a lot of pedestrian footfall when I was here so can imagine there's been an incident or two in the past.
Thanks. This apparently happened a week before this video was filmed so it was very new. Too many people have been ignoring the warnings here so I guess the louder alarms is a way of reducing this happening.
I understand but I think ur only supposed to stop if the barriers come down, as u can see, the train took a very long time to come, but it is true, I some cases the train can come at full speed as soon as the amber lights appear or when the barriers go down.
@@LevelcrossingspotterUK amber means stop (so long as you don't cause an accident). In this case the driver had plenty of time to stop and they just wanted to beat the barriers
One of them sounds like the new one that was put on the Paignton North level crossing
They sound great! Far better than 99% of other new alarms as well, and a massive improvement audibility-wise as the others weee so quiet. Great shots!

Yes very loud! 😮 nice crossing fab catches.😊
Great video and nice crossing! Love the old GWE gate mechs there!
Thank you! They'll be around for a little while longer now too :)
Good they kept the barriers!
The crossing's full upgrade and closure of the signal box has been delayed so this seems to be an interim upgrade to the crossing.
Wow, very interesting! Excellent Videos and Shots! 👍🏻
Thanks!
Sounds like Paignton north crossing
Wow new high pitch alarms but not in the boxes
Yeah, externally fitted alarms now.
Excellent video and crossing 👍
Thank you!
Nice video at Farncombe west level crossing in Surrey and nice alarm sounds though.
Thanks.
At least this Farncombe hasnt been ruined yet
I quite like the new EBI-Gate crossings lol.
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel they're fine ish
I meant by alarms lol
That sounds a little bit like Pembrey and Burry Port. Nice video Jamie 👍
Thank you!
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel You're welcome!
Not so fun when you live next to the level crossing ! They were extremely loud, thank God they taped them!

Nice one! I went here recently and was curious why they were on poles.

@UKLevelCrossingsChannel I was thinking it would be for the upgrade as if the alarms were I'm the barriers, they would need to be taken out.
Car still carried on driving through 6 seconds after the amber lights came on. You’re supposed to stop.

Yeah, could've easily stopped but nope lol.
U don’t all way have to stop at amber light cause it’s like traffic light amber is warning

why did they do this, the crossing is ABOUT to be upgraded toda- nvm its delayed again ffs network rail
Not at the moment. I believe the resignalling project has been halted / delayed.
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel typical. 50000th time NR have done that now lmao
