Great interview man! I wonder if you could do an episode with a scholar pointing out the assumptions and leaps made in modern unbelieving critical scholarship? That is one a lot of us would enjoy I’m sure!
2 Peter 1, 16 For we were not following cleverly devised stories when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah), but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty (grandeur, authority of sovereign power). 17 For when He was invested with honor and glory from God the Father and a voice was borne to Him by the [splendid] Majestic Glory [in the bright cloud that overshadowed Him, saying], This is My beloved Son in Whom I am well pleased and delight, 18 We [actually] heard this voice borne out of heaven, for we were together with Him on the holy mountain. 19 And we have the prophetic word [made] firmer still. You will do well to pay close attention to it as to a lamp shining in a dismal (squalid and dark) place, until the day breaks through [the gloom] and the Morning Star rises (comes into being) in your hearts. 20 [Yet] first [you must] understand this, that no prophecy of Scripture is [a matter] of any personal or private or special interpretation (loosening, solving). 21 For no prophecy ever originated because some man willed it [to do so-it never came by human impulse], but men spoke from God who were borne along (moved and impelled) by the Holy Spirit.

@@Morewecanthink I'm glad to hear i didn't up-set you with my suggestion of using paragraphs in your comments, it was not my intention to up-set you; but to help you and others out there; on how better to write comments, or present the scriptures for the benefit of the reader in order for the reader to better understand the message contained within,..
As for my reading of the scriptures, thanks for your interest but,... i read my Bible every morning before i start my day, i can't start the day without doing so, i've been doing this for 8 years now, so reading the scriptures is not a problem for me, but thanks for your concerns.
I sawJesus, but it was in spirit form. He removed my spirit from my body and stood next o me on the edge of my field...he spoke to me, held my hand. Then I was standing next to my bed, looking down at myself sleeping. Jesus bent over and kissed my cheek. I felt the kiss and instantly woke up. His message was about assurance I am safe where I am. He indicated bad stuff is coming. My takeaway was that I am being personally protected by God, and to not worry. I never had an experience like that before...I’m a devout Christian, sometimes would hear his voice, but never met him. He has brown hair and chestnut/brown eyes, long hair/beard, tall, and was wearing a white robe. He had a glow about him, and was beautiful.
Hi! No, not about salvation, but I was worried about the caravans at that time. Jesus confirmed the USA would be invaded, but I was safe, personally. The longer story is that I was given visions about my home before I bought it, they were overwhelming and repeated day after day. I was shown clues so when I saw it I would recognize it to buy it. This was back in 2004-2006. Beyond mathematical probability. I had always wondered ‘why’ he wanted me to move here, which was three thousand miles away from where I was. This visit I had 18 months ago confirmed why. Listen, whatever is going on in the world, God decided to put me and my family in a safe place that would be invisible to the enemy. I can’t be the only one he is protecting! The insight to what is going to happen was limited in information, I am not a source of info on Endtimes theories. I was given just enough info to calm my fears, which he must have picked up on and wanted to calm.
Wala, it was a spirit visit so was hazy unlike real life. He had medium skin tone, perhaps olive or suntanned, not white like mine. He had brown hair cut into a bob, with full mustache and beard, chestnut eyes, and was wearing a white robe. He was tall, maybe 6’5 but I am not sure. He looked mixed race, maybe white + Egyptian combined. His skin glowed, like I said, he was in the spirit. I feel so blessed that he chose to visit me and spend a few moments with me. I always assumed he was too busy with other people.
Ugh, SOO disappointed with Dr. Bauckham's audio. I will never understand how authors and/or publishers don't go out of their way to obtain high-quality audio setups for the purpose of promoting their hard-won ideas.
According to the "we" passages, Luke went to Jerusalem with Paul, and later accompanied him to Rome. I assume he remained in the area in the interim. do you think this was an opportunity to interview eyewitnesses? I also wonder who witnessed Jesus' trials. The beloved disciple, members oi\of the High Priests' household, Nicodemus? I note also that Luke mentions Joanna, the wife of Herod' steward and Manaen who grew up at Herod's court and Luke is the only evangelists who mention's Jesus' trail before Herod.
Are you nuts? That is what Historians TOTALLY do, historians use many sources. Biographers also use previous sources too. No antiquity scholar will agree that biographers and historians do not use prior sources.
Show me an account of an encounter with the post-resurrected, pre-ascended, bodily-formed Jesus, described with details, written in first-person language with verified authorship. There are none. For this reason, I don't consider any of the books of the New Testament to be legitimate eyewitness testimony of the resurrection.
@@hopefaith7076 It would be a step in the right direction. Jesus would have to show up in person, pass the James Randi test, make a clear statement of what he wanted, go on a worldwide book tour, and be fully vetted by scientists and philosophers of all disciplines. But he can't even pass this most basic hurdle here, so, not holding my breath.
Kevin Dietz essentially your position is: show ME... not good enough for ME.....still not enough for ME....I am autonomous and everything funnels as truth through ME! @@Kenneth-nVA At this point I wouldn't say I'm a seeker the way you mean it. That doesn't mean I'm never open to new evidence, but my worldview is strongly grounded in science and it would take something pretty significant to overturn that. I was raised religion-neutral, had a Christian conversion experience in my teenage years, but later I re-evaluated my position and now I would identify strongly as an atheist. I don't think your characterization is fair that atheists have already been presented with more than enough evidence and yet still insolently insist that it isn't good enough. The evidence for Christianity and the resurrection isn't even remotely close to viable, and it certainly doesn't qualify as eyewitness testimony, which is the specific argument I'm making here. I would ask the same question of Christians in reverse. What would it take to get you to stop believing?
Kevin Dietz I appreciate your transparency. I’ll try to simplify my response to your question. I cannot stop believing in intelligent design. I encounter it and engage within its creativeness, every day I wake. The patterns before my eyes ( creation) screams of something/someone of great intellect, power, authority and purpose. I can’t divorce myself from this! At that point ( pre-Christian) this intelligent one would not place a collection of beings ( humans) on a planet without some sort of understanding of the creator or understanding of our role in the beautiful patterns displayed! Too much known details in creation and the human construct to place at the feet of randomness, chance or something out of nothing...so the question that is hanging is: We are “ placed” within the drama of these patterns for what? I believe that the biblical evidence is eye-witnessed and because of these witnesses, walks became life altering. These witnesses have been attacked from its gospel beginnings. I believe that the religious side of this is unfortunate and frankly, ungodly! Religion is a killer! It’s stooped in legalism, advancement for self gain and looks more like the worship of a golden calf, than that of a calling King! Which is what you are probably ( unfortunately )most familiar with. Really too much to say, so I’ll leave it at that for know.

Bauckham is too smart for me. I tried reading his book but gave up because I couldn't make sense of any of it
I though that a couple times, but I powered through and it became much more readable. Especially when it gets to addressing the Gospels.
Why don't you quote the whole thing and stop trying to mislead people??
Yes, Luke claims to be a historian but the majority of his gospel is a copy of portions of mark and Q. That’s not what historians do.
Luke was a physician

You have a copy of Q? That has never been found?
That’s what they did 1950 years ago.
@@jackhays1194 no, they didn’t. If they did use sources they’d tell you where they got it from and how reliable they thought the source was.
If you want a balanced view watch his debate with Bart Ehrman. It becomes quite obvious his views are 100% special pleading.
You certainly view events through your own biases.
