When creating your disconnected table, you could just find the Power query that has all your countries in it. Make a reference, just grab only that column, remove duplicates, sort, add an index.
I'm not doing a ton with PBI at the moment, but I'm going to start watching your videos to help me think when I get into situations. I use Index / match religiously In Excel, so I think this makes sense, despite a slightly different formula base.
Great video Patrick, I like exploring new function and their possibilities. My comment regarding this one, is that the disconnected table disregard the filter context, so that the ranking we obtain in the disconnected table will not consider the filter of the year. Consequently if the Canada would be the 1st country (on all years) we might have some trouble. The disconnected table will consider Canada as ranked 1, the visual will consider Australia as ranked 1 (on the selected year) and when we will select the Canada, the values might be compared against Australia. isn't it ?
Hello Patrick. Can you help me explain a little. When you wrote the Index function in the table visual, I realize that the table visual has already added a new row "NA" with no value. What is it ? and can I hide it by dax ?
How is this different from fact and dim? Slicer panel had countries and main table had values. We can write required logic/calculations in measures standalone. Inputs are welcomed. Thanks
Modelling is always static. These functions removes that constraint somewhat and make it more dynamic. What you’re saying “create required logic and calculation” is exactly what he’s doing with a new more flexible function.
you are trying to filter the same fact table with the same dim table in two different ways at the same time, the second one being a dynamic choice of the end user. How would you do that without the disconnected copy of dim countries?
I would request Army, Navy and Air force to protect this man at all costs. This is amazing. Thank you Patrick brother.. !!

Patrick, you're explanations are always so accessible, coherent and understandable. Thank you so much

Well, that looks complicated, will need to watch couple of times to understand😅 Thank you Patrick!

I wonder if you could add another level down for region/states within the countries?

That's really useful. I like what you've done with it.

My opinion about this: How Adam says it? "That's Bananas" 😆
The percentages are incorrectly expressed, one must be subtracted from the formula, to obtain the correct increase or decrease.
Sounds Good bro
