  • Watch Bran Stoker's Dracula Now: AAN.SonyPictures.com/BramStoke...
    BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA / Gary Oldman and Winona Ryder star in the tortured tale of a charismatic vampire, based on the tale of the Prince of Darkness. / Gary Oldman, Winona Ryder and Anthony Hopkins star in director Francis Ford Coppola's visually stunning, passionately seductive version of the classic Dracula legend. In BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA, Coppola returns to the original source of the Dracula myth, and from that gothic romance, he creates a modern masterpiece. Gary Oldman's metamorphosis as Dracula who grows from old to young, from man to beast is nothing short of amazing. Winona Ryder brings equal intensity to the role of a young beauty who becomes the object of Dracula's devastating desire. Anthony Hopkins co-stars as the famed doctor who dares to believe in Dracula, and then dares to confront him. Opulent, dazzling and utterly irresistible, this is Dracula as you've never seen him. And once you've seen BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA, you'll never forget it.

    I loved this version of Dracula, he started out much like he was described in the book and slowly became handsome throughout to attract the woman he fancied. Something about a predator such as a vampire having that sort of ability makes them even scarier, not to mention how romantically deceiving he can be.

      This movie was so haunting and sexy at the same time. He done all of that because he loved his wife so much. Couldn’t kill himself he would go to hell but didn’t want to be alive either. I love how the first moments of this scene are similar to how films looked during that time: choppy & fast paced, almost like the scene isn't of much importance... but the moment he finds Mina, it immediately transitions to today's clear crisp video quality, as if the main character/heroine has appeared. It's deeply poetic, and a very nice touch to give insight about how much he valued and cherished her. She was the one who gave him meaning to life, and he could finally *live* again now that he'd finally found her after 'crossing oceans of time'. Gary Oldman, the writer of the book Bram Stoker, and the talented film crew/cast are amazing for putting together this masterpiece. Will never, ever get tired of watching this great film.

    • @Wailwulf
      @Wailwulf ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The fast pace of old films has more to do with the standardized pace of films of the late 30's to now. The standard speed for film now adays is 24 frames per second.
      The frame speed of the older films, were more like 16 or 18 frames per second. But when they were re-played in the later age, they were shown at the standard speed of modern projectors of 24 frames a second. This would mean on the modern projectors a second of viewing would show what had been filmed for 1.33 to 1.5 seconds of real time.

    • @dinoflagella4185
      @dinoflagella4185 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, I absolutely love how the director plays with the frame rates. It starts off with a slow frame rate. Then, when Mina appears the frame rate jumps to a higher speed.

      no. the point here is to ask, why is a vampire with no reflection and/or a disinclination towards silver, able to be captured on camera by film, the which whose mechanism is dependent upon the chemical development of silver halides exposed to light.

    • @LusciousTwinkle
      @LusciousTwinkle 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The choppiness or emulation of silent movies was to convey how he as a vampire saw the world in daylight. Not his favourite or easy time of day...but when he sees her, his view is clarified and concentrated...

    the greatest love story ever put to film. im an old man (60), and i only ever watch this alone because im a blubbering mess by the end every time, and i must have watched it 50 times. i challenge anyone to watch this film and not cry. it covers all aspects of the human condition. love, loss, heartbreak, redemption, salvation. the scene where the absolute love of his life that he has "crossed oceans of time to find" and she simply doesn't recognise him is heartbreaking for dracula. gary oldman and coppola. 2 of the greats of cinema.

    Exquisite detail.
    The only movie I ever bought on disc for the extras, deleted scenes, etc.
    A brilliant work of art.
