I encourage folks working on their own cars, especially anything electrical take great care
Warning : work on your own vehicles at your own risk, I'm not responsible for you messing up. Any doubt seek a professional help or get someone else to do it!
Check your vehicles system before hand and its best practice to disconnect batteries before touching electrics, do you have your radio code, alarm settings, keys out the ignition anything special for your car?
Thank you for the support,
I'm a old school VW modifier who would rather build than drive!
t5 #fog #led
I did an addition of halogen powered foglights to my 1996 Vento years ago and used a relay as the lights draw much more current tjan modern leds. I wired it so they come on via the usual combo light switch, and also when the main beams are switched on so as to provide some more light lower down to help with visibility at night. Great video. Keep up the good work!
Great to hear your rally configuration of your fogs setup, amazes me the massive difference in power consumption on these compared to old school halogens!!
Thanks for the support 👍
Looking forward to more videos
Plenty more to come, next one might be on the van but transfers skills to any vehicle!!!
Hello. ive just acquired a t5, and have exactly the same fog kit as you. Ive never done auto electric kits. I also have an electric window kit to fit. Hopefully youll have one of those videos too!!! tnx for sharing
Great to hear, and yes I will be doing the electric window kit, filmed it will be doing that and a lot more in the near future
Nice video, really helpful to get what I'm about to attempt sanity checked (with everything lighting up correctly at the end!).
The pin connector you said you already had, on that wee yellow wire that went into the back of the switch, do you know how to describe them? Having a look but don't think I'm using the right phrasing in my searches.
Glad it helped Andrew, has certainly helped over the dark nights!
Yes that wire is a repair wire or a repair terminal for VW plugs, you can remove the from similar plugs as it's widely used
Edit: from my search I'd say it's 6.3 or 6.5mm, worth double checking on the switch as I don't have switch in front of me, but sure you could take plastic insulation off a crimp connector, but likely not lock in
Liking that.
Thanks 👍
Really useful - many thanks! I bought a similar kit off Ebay, there were no instructions and the panel was so flimsy I sent the kit back. That was a normal filament bulb set, but now I have seen the LED versions in this video I may try and get just the lamps and re-use the existing panels. Did you consider using the outer ring / angel eyes as daytime running lights?
Thanks for the comment, if I done it again probably just the lamp units solely on original trims
Yes I did think about daytime running, but just didn't like them on there own, without sidelight . Personal preference over the control on them on
@@CrispysProjects I think I will try daytime running lights first as its easy to wire up, I already have a switched 12V distribution box that I made up, tucked away in the dashboard.
It was interesting to see how far your headlamp switch came out. I am struggling with mine, may need to poke around a bit more to see if something is trapping it.
Hi nice work .. did you get these from ebay? Thanks
Hi, thanks and there still working! Yes I did, there's a link in description which I suspect is still working, as I mentioned if buying again I wouldn't worry about a complete kit, I'd just get the lamp units on there own
Many thanks for watching 👍
