there were actually a handful of hacked top 1s over the years. Gboy hacked cataclysm obviously (but this was before the demonlist was made) cyclic hacked sonic wave Xander hacked zodiac Bobobobobobobo hacked VSC And TTV was also accidentally hacked on the challenge list.
This was quite interesting as a casual player to see the complexity in making and beating these kinds of maps, great video! also I do not understand the point of cheating multiple times when you have already been caught before, I feel like once you've cheated and people know what kind of reputation you have, theres no point in continuing the same path when the result of being caught again is obviously going to be the same.
@@Slaking_the problem with erosion is how the difference in terms of difficulty between easy, medium, hard and impoppable is far bigger than on literally any other map in the game. On most maps, you can properly determine whether it should be beginner, intermediate, advanced or expert regardless of the difficulty on which you play it. For erosion however, playing it on easy makes it feel like a slightly caked up intermediate map while playing it on hard or higher makes it feel like a true expert map.
The second you quoted his response about not having good seasons gameplay footage my Karl Jobst alarm bells started going "weewoo weewoo." The community members are also so right. Even from his apology he seemed annoying. "I have a life." Like you spent just as much time cheating. The other members have lives too, they're just better than you and have more integrity. As soon as I heard about the expert maps being divided in two, I immediately thought about extreme demons in Geometry Dash. It caught me by surprise to actually hear DerpSkull mention Geometry Dash
fym noticed literally like every single "hard thing" list in games has been inspired off of the demon list lmao its by far the most well known aspect of the community outside of gd lmao, outside of levels like change of scene and white space

Incredible video, tho I REALLY wish you focused more on the gameplay aspects of the harder maps. Like, you didnt really explain a single strategy for the top maps. We dont even know the true limitations and issues! Just advice for next time, I'd have loved to learn more gameplay wise!

This was a really phenomenal video and it's clear how much work you've put into it Mackan. I wasn't expecting the turn in the video with the whole slender situation. I would love to see a follow up in the future on the maplist project, maybe contacting some top runners on how they beat the hardest/harder maps would be cool. This is all from the perspective of a casual player too, say I have some black borders here and there but things like getting a VTSG etc are just too complicated/out of scope for me. Here's hoping this video gets the views and recognition it deserves!
As a dedicated player of both games, I love the way Geometry Dash and Bloons intertwine with the Demonlist and Maplist respectively. Awesome documentary!
The music in the intro is right on point, just as ominous as it must be. Edit: Why do just mere seconds later I have Tidal Wave thrown on my face, I clicked on a BTD6 video and I saw the pointercrate demonlist 💀. But should have expected it, an adjusted "demonlist" for BTD6 is actually just what it needs. Edit 2: Of course the maplist specifically has the "verifiers" of each map, not to mention a points system that looks similar (in spirit) to the list points of the demonlist. But I definitely didn't expect slenderman1442 to be the spaceuk of BTD6, that's just craaazy. It's kinda uncanny how similar this feels to the demonlist. Edit 3: Okay, in BTD6 someone actually needs to verify a map to truly prove it is possible, because it is otherwise impossible to know whether it is even physically feasible. But that's not the case for GD, a level like "GRIEF" is _obviously_ physically possible, even if no one's ever completed it in its entirety (good luck to Doggie man 🙏). So at these people got that right. Also, "and the legacy maps that have fallen below rank 50", wow...
Slender somehow found a way to cheat on a game where the community welcomes cheats like save scumming so much that NK added it to the game. If he found an exploit or used a wacky interaction the community would've lauded him as a hero and a celebrity ; instead he cheat engined which is just lame.
save scumming isn't "cheating" though, it's just saving time and tedium. It doesn't let you do anything more powerful than without it, and in some cases can even weaken your defense.
You do realize retry last round was already added in challenge editor and people were using that? Also, we don't allow game breaking bugs to be used in list completions like flagship bug, which allows you to get infinite planes, or the rejuv bug from v44.0
I saw the description and the words "Geometry Dash" and I freaked out TWO communities inspiring each other with awesomeness, and me being in both of them, is something I though I would never see
I womder how much more difficult the maps will get, especially knowing how much more difficult geometry dash levels got even though people thought they were near human limit already
I love that you mentioned the gd (geometry dash) community because how similar these two communities are. There have been multiple hackers that have tried to fit in as a top player in the gd community.

There was one map that ISAB tried that could ONLY be completed on Deflation (without Powers), it had 5 lanes but were all blocked off and thus would die on easy (without powers). You could micro some 2-0-3 planes wiht an alch to beat deflation.
This is so impressive. BTD6 is my chill casual game (I'm a sweat when it comes kaizo mario romhacks) but I love seeing high level players doing incredibly difficult things

Looking at the title, it feels like the video doesn't really have an identity. It would be fun to watch if you go into more detail on the top 5 maps and the strategies involved in how they were beaten.

I just don't get why Slender cheated "because of having a RL life and strict parents". Just play the game less often, (but pls still have fun in these ocations) and/or encourage 1 of your parents to start playing him or herself. I did the same and now my parent sometimes plays more BTD than me LOL.

Maplist before the whole slender drama was quite isolated from other btd6 communities, so we didn't really know slender’s backstory
