Very happy The Rose was recommended to me.
Woosung is the Main Vocalist and starts off the first song. The one who starts the second song isn't Woosung but Dojoon. And you are right about Dojoon playing the keyboard as well as the guitar. The other 2 members Hajoon and Jaehyeong sing as well but mainly do backup vocals. These 2 songs aren't their typical sound, it's normally softer rock. They mix English and Korean lyrics a lot. They said they use whatever fits the song best. Lately they seem to be having a lot more English. Woosung and Dojoon are both very good at English. Woosung actually grew up in LA.

Woosung grew up in the US and came to Korea after auditioning for the
first season of the reality show K-pop Star. After being eliminated, he took
a break from music and taught English in Korea. He debuted on August 3, 2017, as a vocalist and
electric guitarist of rock band, The Rose which consisted of members Woosung,
Hajoon, Dojoon and Jaehyung. The band debuted with their single 'Sorry' Kim's pre-release single
"Lonely" came out on
July 19, 2019.

Woosung was born in Korea, but raised in California. When he moved to Korea at age 18/19 he only spoke conversational Korean. He learned to speak, read, and write in Korean and now he says that both his English and Korean suck, lol ( Zach Sang interview). Doojoon grew up for 5 or so years in New Zealand and is also fluent in English even though he has more of an accent.

@lexybaginsky It is listed that he was born in Wanju SK. I assume that he was able to get his US citizenship at some point in his youth. I have not heard him speak of his father, but he also could have been a US citizen. He has stated that when he was a baby/ toddler, he also lived in Canada and the Philippines.

According to The Rose, whether they sing in all English, all Korean, mostly Korean, or mostly English depends on whatever they think sounds best.
Also both of these songs are quite different from the music they normally make. They usually make more soft rock music reminiscent of bands like Coldplay, 1975, and The Script.

Although their songs are all wonderful, some of the standouts are "Beauty and the Beast", "Red", "Sorry", and "ILYSB", IMHO. Also Woosung's solo work is incredible. I love "Face". Glad to see your reaction to The Rose!

I've been listening to them for many years, I was lucky enough to see them live on their Latin American tour. And the truth is that I can't wait for the moment when they play again in Argentina and sing these songs live. They sound differently live, there is a feeling in the air that cannot be explained. His old songs and his lyrics helped me a lot. "She is in the rain" is one of those songs that I feel deep inside of me. "time" is another song that is very healing. My bias from Astro passed away recently, which is another band that I've been following for many, many years and that song by the rose helped me a lot during the duel. They have a video of them playing that song live, that every time I see it it makes me cry. I hope that as you get to know them you can get to know them you can find the beauty in their music. (Sorry if my English is not very good... I am a person who speaks Spanish)

i was VERY surprised with this song and took me a while to adjust my expectations of their usual sounds to this song .
to me , the QUINTESSENTIAL songs that represent the Rose are..:

and then they play around. but they have their own distinct sound that's unmistakably theirs that resonates with the 1st 4 .

I love the Rose and BTS both for their beautiful souls and their ability to keep things fresh and new. I really prefer randomness in music and the Rose seems to be branching out more since the came to their new company here in US.

I love The Rose, I went on one of their concerts here in Brazil and it was amazing, their energy is so pure. My favorites songs are Sorry, See-saw and Shift.

Hello, it's my first time here. Thanks for reacting to The Rose, they are amazing!
These two songs are more hard-hitting than the usual The Rose sound. They had said that they had more inspiration, for the instrumentation, from the city for this new album, their last album, HEAL, was more inspired by nature so is a lot more chill and sentimental, and I think that album is a masterpiece. From older stuff maybe you'd like Sorry, and Beauty and The Beast.
I know probably a lot of people had already said this but the lead singer/electric guitarist Woosung grew up in the States, and the main singer/acoustic guitarist/keyboardist Dojoon lived for a while in New Zeland, that's why their english is so good. Btw Hajoon, the drummer, and Jaehyung, the bassist, also sing very well but they usually do more backing vocals.

Second comment, sorry..... The Rose tends to have both English heavy and Korean heavy songs, with some songs going back and forth between the two. They write and produce their own music as a group.
That makes sense. Very cool that they are so multilingual that they can write lyrics based on what language they believe it would sound better in.
Im newer to The Rose than several people commenting. Also, im older, over 50.
From my point of view, they seem to be moving to very global. They have a US based label, Transparent Arts, that specializes in Asian artists and a global platform. It would make more sense globally to perform in mostly English, rather than Korean. English reaches a broader audience.
I feel as though their style previously was geared towards a more Korean/Asian kpop audience. They seem to be moving away from the kpop world and into the global music industry.
I'm going to have to continue to keep an ear out for The Rose. I'm liking the sound.
