The name "black diamonds" sounds a little bit cheesy 🧀... think about this the next time that you're grocery shopping. Lol

I think Black Diamonds goes hard. For both the skiing and mining industry.

@@hotcoco05goes hard? Like hard cheddar? Like black diamond cheese? Lmao. Who wants their hockey team named after a cheese manufacturer? Lol

I definitely agree, now that I've heard you say it, that the Hive would be an unreal arena name for the Swarm

I’d reckon powder is in relation to snow while blast could be a reference to like tnt from mining.
Logos def change based on what we think of from the word ngl

Hmm that makes sense, didn't think of it in that way. But ya, a full scope of what the logo and everything looks like probably would change where I have these ranked

Venom would be my choice, there's a shocking lack of snake names in U.S. and Canadian sports.

fans usually consider the team owners to be snakes, i.e. snakes well represented

I 100% agree with you on the singularity thing. Idk why almost all of them are singular. The only singular one i like is venom and swarm, other than that id prefer YetiS, MammothS, hell even Glaciers

For sure, it's not like singular names can't work

nothing is forever, the only constant is CHANGE, 99% of team names ending "S" is almost a religion - how about a little atheism?

    Utah Anglers
    Logo: dragonfly or Dry Flies
    Players Nicknamed: The Flies
    Crowd: The Swarm

I see a lot of potential with Black Diamonds. Call the area the Mine. Fans would love to wear cool jewelry. Lot of design options for a creative jersey. Can incorporate mountains and mines and build the lore around the brand.

That could be pretty sweet, definitely has potential for sure

MOST of the names suggested are unrepresentative of the city of Salt Lake, the state of Utah or the NHL. MANY gravitate towards the status quo: 1 NOUN, 2 usually animal, 3 multi-syllable, 4 ends in "S". In that respect, BLAST and SWARM have the advantage of also being VERBS. But here's an exercise in DIFFERENT. How about representing Salt Lake City with an ADVERB or ADJECTIVE (some are both). One that begins with the letters "SL". For instance, UTAH SLY. The logo can be a fox (if you want to make Phoenix happy, use the head of a snarling coyote!) The idea here is that there are LOTS of words beginning SL that could apply. Get away from names that the host of this podcast calls TERRIBLE.

I would refuse to cheer for or buy any merchandise of any team named HC or Hockey Club.

how about borrowing from Jerry Reed: team name UTAH GOLDMINE, the arena can be THE SHAFT - the home team gets the gold mine, the opposition get the shaft
