Became a fan of David's back in 79 or so. Had a couple of albums by that time. Then he went silent on touring, etc. He got tired of touring, etc. but really loved fiddles. He opened up a fiddle store in CA I think and sold, restored fiddles. There was a documentary I saw on TV maybe 10 years ago or so and it chronicled his life story. Very interesting. One of the last scenes there were at least 50 or more fiddle players in his studio and they were playing an Irish fiddle tune, can't remember the name of it off hand. But his good friend, Dr. John appeared throughout the documentary and I think the last scene in the documentary was of the two of them walking down the sidewalk outside his studio shooting the breeze. It's a must watch if you can find it. Would love to have the chance to see him in person!
Believe it or not, he is more handsome today then he was 40 years ago. He was one of the ugliest front men in music. god he battled fierce odds on the way to the top. I love this dude, had every one of his albums. He gave this ugly dude hope for a while.
Dunno if you guys cares but if you are stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch all the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my brother for the last weeks xD

Saw him once in a small venue outside of Syracuse on hot night, probably 1978 or so. The band blew the roof off the building. Fantastic show.
He owns a violin store in Wilmington, DE and I believe is considered one of the leading authorities on American-made violins.
