      @noesunyoutuber7680 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eating glass is scary, but it's not startling. Whereas small alcohol explosions aren't very scary, but are very startling. Slow burn tension versus jump scare: the former is more mentally affecting overall, but the other provokes much more dramatic reactions.

Alcohol sparks, ball bearing packet flies out and scatters at high speeds, no more badguys

    What should you do next time? Multi-stage with a GoPro (w/ parachute) on top. The initial stage starts on the ground of course, but on top of that stage (and all others except for final) top them with styrofoam to keep them flush and carve out whatever paths you need to fit everything together to launch the next stage and maybe use some weak velcro to keep them together. The final stage (along with the GoPro and parachute) would have an arduino to control the firing of each stage. Run the wiring down from the last stage and rig up some sort of breakaway connections. Probably run a few tests to determine how long your "burn time" ought to be before you fire off each stage and just program the arduino (assuming this would work) to stagger out the ignitions. Slap some fins on for stability. Might want to reach out to a TH-camr like Scott Manley for some advice.
    What could go wrong? It's just rocket science...

  • @stapuft

  • @Maninawig
    @Maninawig 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have been watching a lot of D&D play lately so here is my idea in both context:
    You have a ceramic cobblestone (provided by Mrs. Brushwood) on top of a layer of breakable jars filled with the air alcohol mixture. (Or one with a layer of pockets underneath filled with the mixture) Lay a tripwire that spins a Faraday generator (crank flashlight) in the middle of the stone. Given that the spark needed can be generated many times in a single crank, they should all go off simultaneously without a hitch.
    When tripped, the cobblestone jumps slightly and shatters under your feet.
    In D&D, have a potter make you a hollow cobblestone 20ft by 20ft filled with alcohol air and 5 tiny breakable ball of Alchemist Fire slightly higher than the rest placed throughout. When the enemy steps on the unsuspecting bump, they break free the Alchemist fire, self-ignighting it which, in turn makes the whole 20/20 ft explode causing 1d6 fire damage at least.
    BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! See, the reason it was 20ft by 20ft is that the cobblestone was actually covering a pit trap filled with either A) the upright broken arrows of your enemies caked in a mix of Blood of the Lycanthrope (rat), Poison, and Potion of Diminution (causing you to be poisoned, tiny, and possibly a wererat) possibly a potion of invisibility for the fun of it. B) a layer or two of Alchemy Fire Flasks. C) a Gillatenous Cube. D) A Glyph of Warding casting Plane Shift sending you to Orcus's bathroom or E) a Glyph of Warding tied to a jade fitness gym housing Incubus 90s version Richard Simmons. The Glyph casts Feeble Mind followed by Imprisonment.
    Enjoy.
    This is based off of a read Ninja pressure plate btw.

    You ask for ideas, you'll get 'em:
    1: Fin stabilization, trying both straight fins, and fins at an angle to promote gyroscopic stabilization. Maybe even try some light nose cones (too much weight will bork it all up).
    2: Rocket array. Either something like 30 or so side-by-side in a line, or in a tight square. Go crazy with it and make a 10'-20' diameter ring with the rockets facing inwards, and place the changeling in the center.
    3: Take about 3 of the huge water dispenser jugs, cut 'em up, slap em together to make a 6' tall rocket, set it up, and run.
    Love your stuff guys! Let's get the "days since injury" counter to a high score!

    Oh man that sound brings back a memory. When I was 15 or so, I was bored while sitting at my desk waiting on a game at 3AM. I had a bic lighter and the empty brass from a Winchester .270 rifle round. Butane is heavier than air, so I filled the brass by holding the lighter upside down and letting out some butane into the brass. I waited a sec for any "spillage" to blow away then I went to creep up on the top of the brass to ignite the butane, well it didn't blow out as "perfectly" as I expected and I burnt the HELL out of my left hand. ...Good thing it was my left being 15, looking back as an adult...

    To further weaponize this concept, do glass bottles function similarly?
    If using plastic, you could add some kind of weight to the bottom of the bottle, like pouring in molten wax or something, it might make it easier to aim, and pack a punch on the landing. Or putting fins/fletching or a nosecone on the bottle could stabilize the flight. Or all of the above?
    You could also get bigger bottles, like the water-cooler 5-gallon bottles.
    What happens with different fuel types that aerosolize, such as gasoline?
    Or you could go whole hog and try launching a 55-gallon drum.

    two things.
    1) IT CAN GO BIGGER. So much bigger. Like, a mortar type bottle rocket where you use a garbage bin and launch it.
    2) I have recieved a message from outer space saying that chi-ild are going to attack. However, I have done much research and sought out much wisdom for the coming battle. All of my hard-won knowledge indicateds that only a bottle rocket of sufficient size and power can defeat them.

    The way I see it, there's 3 options;
    1; bring a changling/gourd target
    2; build the biggest version you can (Like Hellboy's Good Samaritan compared to a normal revolver)
    3; build the most numerous version you can (ever seen those firework boxes where it's a grid of hundreds of tiny rockets that go off sequential?)

    What the bottles need is something to weigh down the front. A 2 liter bottle may cause a sting when it hits someone, but a heavy 2 liter bottle would pack a punch that could hurt someone.

    Ideas for upgrades:
    -some way to atomize the woosh juice so you get a more optimal mixture (probably cannibalize a spray bottle or one of those foaming soap pumps)
    -use a 2 liter bottle with some guidance fins strapped on (maybe angled so it spin-stabilizes in flight?)
    -nosecones?

    Make it aerodynamically stable, add a nose cone and some well-aligned fins and it should fly much faster and further. Maybe for an added bonus later on you can add a spike to the front and jam it into trees n stuff?

    Make it wire-guided (mount a wire through a pvc pipe) to go around a corner, add stabilization wings, maybe also mount a GoPro on the nose cone. First person alcohol rocket shenanigans!
    Also, wear hearing protection.
    Also try to get the “super heavy” by actually linking the three rockets
    Maybe make a MIRV out of it, with more rockets launched auto-sequentially?
    Also maybe try to make the fuel-air mixture in the launcher to inject it into the rockets before launch

    Related: a flour-power flamethrower. It's basically a tube full of ordinary baking flour and a pilot flame like a candle. You blow into the tube really hard, spraying out the flower, it turns into a cloud, and once it has the right air-to-surface area ratio, it turns into a giant fireball.

    00:00 - I never knew Barry Gibb and Sting's and were modern rogues!!
    We need a little bit of bottle engineering and make a 3-3.5 litre projectile from 2 litre C**a-Co** bottles with the bottom segments CAREFULLY CUT OFF. Use epoxy to glue them together, pointy ends outwards obviously, and also glue some angled fins on them and then we have the Wooshy Rogue urban missile programme.

    What you have made is an alcohol fuelled spigot mortar.
    Nose cone, tail fins, maybe a SMALL weight under the nose cone; do a competition for distance. Also make the spigot fit closely around the hole.
    Note, the more weight you have, the higher the pressure in the bottle will rise before it leaves the spigot, with a non zero chance of rupture at a certain point. That being said, pop bottles are actually engineered to withstand pressure, large water containers like your central one are not. Just an FYI.

    so rockets have 'engines.' the fuel is contained on the projectile itself and the projectile accelerates through the air as the fuel burns. bullets don't have fuel, they're just lead/lead alloys - some of them have copper jackets, steel/tungsten penetrating cores, phosphorous incendiary charges, and tracers have a load of different burning metallic salts - but none of it accelerates the projectile. the brass, primer, and powder aren't part of the 'bullet' itself.
    you made rocket launchers lol. sounds more badass than a homemade gun, i should think.

    One of the first videos the Modern Rogue made was vaporizing alcohol in bottles. That stuff was thick thick vapor. Maybe apply that here? If it’s too much for the plastic, they could use glass bottles, as light as they can get them. Then it’d be a real weapon!
