I think why people draw girls a lot is because like- its hard to explain but I guess cuz u have more variety and more options.. like more hairstyles, u can add more detail such as makeup, more outfits, etc.. And yes ofc you can do all of that on boys as well! But the question is how many times CaN u do it on boys?!
Yeah! Moreover, there's that I can more easily draw many of masculine things on girls, like short hair and pants. While I'm not saying I can't draw a dude in a skirt- 1) it's less common irl and 2) people would think it's a girl unless I really went for that angular face. My style is very round, so everyone looks like a girl as a default. I also found 1cm hair really hard to draw as a child, so I just didn't
@@Lacesonashes Definitely- from anybody's perspective everything about a woman's body is just more interesting. Sure it's a little more interesting to have a guy with large muscles than a girl- but everything else a girl wins. His reason for drawing women: I like girls. My reason: As a female, I am more comfortable and use to the female body. Though, I have progressed on male bodies (anatomy studies are interesting-)
It's not because ur a girl that it's easier for you to draw them. Your jsut used to or subconsciously feel more confortable with drawing curved figures while guys are more sharp and angular. Tbh it easier to draw dudes imo but babes for the win
@@emmalarkin7589 For me, it is easier to base the anatomy on a bunch of circles (the typical hourglass shape) than rectangles, which tend to look more warped when I draw them. This is likely because when you start out you're told to draw a circle for the head and then make them a certain number of heads tall...from there, making a circle for the chest, one for the hips, and then for the joints is really easy.

Its a trade off. In school there is more accountability, you have immediate access to resources and a streamlined knowledge base. Its very expensive tho, and might not be the right environment. Its harder to learn on your own and you need to be self-motivated, but its less expensive and you arent held to such stringent rules or the subjective nature of your teacher's critic. I went to school for animation (way back in 2006, when youtube was just a sparkle in someone's eyes) and I think I would've been better off learning on my own financially. Im working as a graphic designer now and want to explore animation again on my own terms soon.
Tutorials are harder for some people tho. I learn through detailed understanding better than I do with ten minute video of instructions. Sure the second one can get me motivated, but it can’t really teach me much.

@@teehee5700 I feel like the round shapes are more forgiving too! Just overall a nice way to practice drawing gestures for bodies when you are still learning
i also draw pretty much only girls, and the reason why is because i think it’s easier then drawing males, i guess easier wasn’t the right word, i guess its more of “the way females faces and hair and clothes go, is more interesting for me” and i think a lot of people have the same opinion, and that okay. i have been a fan for a while and the tips you give actually really helps. im actually not planning to be an artist, but a game developer. i like animating simple things for practice just to see how people move, then i got addicted. sad. also i think your drawing are extremely amazing, i hope everyone who reads this gets the artstyle they like and is comfortable with.
I feel the female body has great undertones of smoothness. The male body in comparison is slightly rigid. Drawing females is slighlty more fun because it gives you the freedom of flow.
I actually did a theory paper for art school in my junior year. The answer for drawing girls or why a women is used for just about anything in art. Photogenic. A women's appearance is very emitting from drawing to motion pictures. A lot goes into design but that's just a piece of it.
I think it helps a lot to practice lineart with pencil and paper, move on to digital to practice colors, and if you try painting on canvas it’s so inspiring and really boosts your skills up. Or at least it did me.
When you said “Attack on Titan” I just did a silent head nod to myself lmfao like “excellent choice good sir” (I’m not much of anime fan, and my cousins showed me everything I know. AOT was the second one they showed lol I think I got too spoiled with that banger of a show) Love your videos. Congrats on your growth, and all the best in continuing to grow and inspire others! 💯✌🏼❤️
For the animation one…yes. I’ve been practicing animation for the past year by myself, just starting out with basic things like bouncing balls and slowly working my way up. Rn I’m currently working on a short cartoon animation with a human OC. It’s not the best but the fact that I went from simple shapes to humans and being able to understand movement more is amazing! It takes lots of work and patience but yes, learning to animate without a class is completely possible
@@Don-fw3nv they’ve improved a lot! If I’m being honest, I haven’t had much time to do a ton but they’re still way better. I just recently started a new one that I might post on here or IG when finished
maybe one of the reasons why a lot of people (including me, a girl) draw girls often is because of all the erotization of women's bodies that led to a big development of women's own esthetic. Also, injonctions to please and to seduce the others (especially men) are part of that, in my opinion. This might explane how you can find a wide variety of hairstyles for example (i say that because someone in the comments used this as an argument of why it was more interesting to draw girls). The way we are socialized makes also a difference: often, people give more compliments to female children about their appearance, whereas male children tend to get compliments on their actions and their physical abilities for example. Plus, just take a look at the streets, so much statues of naked women, so much art painting women's body, without mentioning also all the advertising which keeps sexualising and showing women's body. I mean, our eyes are thaught to watch women everywhere and to create art fantasies on them. I don't think drawing girls is only an individual behaviour
Love your work sam! It would be so cool if you could have a video talking about how you kickstarted your art career! I'm in the same boat as you were, design student but really wants to go ahead and pursue art
"Don't force it. Give yourself a break." See, when I follow that philosophy, I get inspired, get a third of the way through a piece, and then don't touch the stylus for six or nine months. I *need* to force myself or nothing happens. I continuously and consistently fail to learn how to enjoy the process... and that failure pisses me off more than anything, because I do want to enjoy it. Instead, if I feel anything at all, it's a sense of disgust and loathing at even having spent the time at all. That fact makes me feel dead, soulless, emotionally defective. Why do I struggle to glean any joy or satisfaction from art, and only feel hatred?
maybe it's to do with the type of art you're trying to create. maybe your skills lie in a different area of creativity. I get like that constantly when I'm trying to force myself to create something specific. or maybe try creating something on a smaller scale, that takes less time so you're less likely to give up ❤
Ahhhh YES AoT!!! And I've also seen very few anime, I tend to not like too many but AoT is amazing. I also started my art journey as a little kid. Man I feel like I should have discovered your channel sooner lol.
I'm stuck in that "only draw girls" thing too lol. Girls are just...more interesting. Curves are fun to draw, whereas guy forms are usually with more rectangle forms. I like drawing tiny waists and curves, its just more flowy and interesting 🤷♀️ im at the point where I'm trying to go to art programs and im realizing I haven't drawn a guy in so long that I just don't know how anymore😂😂 its been years
i not only admire your art at this point i admire how you’re brave enough to step outta stereotypes and be an artist (well cuz like firstly my art ain’t nice second- i’m an asian, i got asian parents.) respect tho 😩😩✨
When people ask me why I draw furries, it’s a simple answer, because I like drawing them. Like most things, especially girls, you can add more detail but with furries, you can draw WHATEVER! Something as complicated as a dragon to something as simple as a wolf. You can add wings, extra tails and ears (or whatever), it’s all up to you. That’s a reason why I don’t really draw people because for me in my opinion, you can’t do much with them. Female furries though😳
I used to mostly draw girls for years when I was a kid because I liked it and thought they were more fun to draw. But then my parents pointed it out, I got embarrased for some reason and now I paint trippy shit and fuckin love it. I should paint trippy girls

yess thats why i lovee drawing girls because most guys have more boxy shapes and woman are more round. super fun
“the weight of my failures and trauma.” *smiles* 😀
Imagine having Asian parents that support you pursuing a career in arts, can't relate
My dad didnt let me take visual arts course at my new fancy pancy selective school
I have asian parents and they told me that "if you art Is good why dont become a designer
You are my inspiration in art right now. Keep working bro!
Sam's face in the thumbnail is basically, "Are you seriously asking that question?"
I feel the female body has great undertones of smoothness. The male body in comparison is slightly rigid. Drawing females is slighlty more fun because it gives you the freedom of flow.
Yeah you are right
I actually did a theory paper for art school in my junior year. The answer for drawing girls or why a women is used for just about anything in art. Photogenic.
A women's appearance is very emitting from drawing to motion pictures. A lot goes into design but that's just a piece of it.
you are handsome, an amazing artist, have a soothing deep voice, honestly this is the real HOW
I think it helps a lot to practice lineart with pencil and paper, move on to digital to practice colors, and if you try painting on canvas it’s so inspiring and really boosts your skills up. Or at least it did me.
When you said “Attack on Titan” I just did a silent head nod to myself lmfao like “excellent choice good sir” (I’m not much of anime fan, and my cousins showed me everything I know. AOT was the second one they showed lol I think I got too spoiled with that banger of a show)
Love your videos. Congrats on your growth, and all the best in continuing to grow and inspire others! 💯✌🏼❤️
you r rocking that shirt 🖐️

For the animation one…yes. I’ve been practicing animation for the past year by myself, just starting out with basic things like bouncing balls and slowly working my way up. Rn I’m currently working on a short cartoon animation with a human OC. It’s not the best but the fact that I went from simple shapes to humans and being able to understand movement more is amazing! It takes lots of work and patience but yes, learning to animate without a class is completely possible
how are ur animations now?
When Sam said he's 23 a senior citizen, I was like 'dude, what am I? A corpse? Hahaha!'

"Don't like to stick to one... Commitment issues". Those who asking about Girlfriends y'all got the answer.
I love your shirt man.
The in-between non art related questions are so funny, I'm glad you also put them in and reacted to them! 🤩

CONGRATULATIONS SAM! I WISH U ALL THE BEST
the shirt is fire bro
You should do a tutorial how to do your heads from different perspectives, or a tutorial on your autonomy
Love your work sam! It would be so cool if you could have a video talking about how you kickstarted your art career! I'm in the same boat as you were, design student but really wants to go ahead and pursue art
I’m a design student as well! I really have a passion for and want to pursue art more though, so this suggestion is awesome!!
Your shirt is the best thing that I have ever viewed absolute masterpiece

"Don't force it. Give yourself a break."
See, when I follow that philosophy, I get inspired, get a third of the way through a piece, and then don't touch the stylus for six or nine months.
I get like that constantly when I'm trying to force myself to create something specific. or maybe try creating something on a smaller scale, that takes less time so you're less likely to give up ❤
Your art is really inspiring i always use it as referance love from france😘
The small laughs in between are so wholesome to me.
I like drawing tiny waists and curves, its just more flowy and interesting 🤷♀️ im at the point where I'm trying to go to art programs and im realizing I haven't drawn a guy in so long that I just don't know how anymore😂😂 its been years
Yall need to study jojo.
@@789blablajaja7 still not interesting, i think drawing girls is somehow easier
I also find the hair very fun :)
if i try to draw a male itll end up as a female somehow

Apparently this man has to answer this question on an yearly basis
i not only admire your art at this point i admire how you’re brave enough to step outta stereotypes and be an artist (well cuz like firstly my art ain’t nice second- i’m an asian, i got asian parents.) respect tho 😩😩✨
After reading the title, I answered to myself, that cause they are beautiful~ ^~^ 💖

"I like girls"
Speaking with Jason Momoa's voice: *"My Man!"*
Aww... Peppa pig caught my eye...♥️♥️🤩
Btw, i loved the first side view face you sketched👏♥️
I like to draw girls as well, it's just easier for me for some reason. Maybe when I'll get better at my art I'll try to draw guys as well. :)
It’s very emotional

I used to mostly draw girls for years when I was a kid because I liked it and thought they were more fun to draw.
But then my parents pointed it out, I got embarrased for some reason and now I paint trippy shit and fuckin love it.
I should paint trippy girls
