We have 9 bins that are just about all different sizes. They all have either soybeans in them, barley or wheat. Each bin is a different variety of those three. It all comes together for a seed plant where we go and clean, bag, and sell seed. I am used to a bin sweep I'll tell you that!!
My son (2) and I watch these videos every night before bedtime. He yells “watch tractors” so we found your channel and love it. But something about this video puts him to sleep and I’m not mad about it. Thanks for entertaining my son and teaching me things I didn’t know I needed to know 🙂

Driving down the road in the 4640 looking straight ahead, it reminds me of one of Travis' most-viewed videos. I take it that this amount of rain was nowhere near "A Good Time To Panic". Rain makes grain, and grain means money in your pockets. It's nice to see you clear out the remainder of last year's crop, if only because that means you're one step closer to the next harvest. It's all a process that never seems to end (not that that's a bad thing from the viewers' perspective).

We had a 4640 with front wheel assist, always blew the hydraulic hose and was a big mess to fix because it would blow out a couple of gallons of hydraulic fluid before you could get it shut off .

Old iron makes great videos. The 4020 and the 4640 are my favorites. I especially like the 46 when it billows smoke! Safety question? I know dust is dangerous for possible explosions so what do you do to keep the chances of an explosion from happening. Someone please answer. Thanks.
Minimize the dust... and of course ignition sources... Not much you CAN do... grain goes in the bin usually there's an electric motor slinger up there to spin the grain out into the bin so it rises *more or less* level as it fills, and of course the stirrators are powered by electric motors. Usually you have sealed electric motors and sealed lights and stuff in/around the bin to minimize ignition sources in high dust concentrations, that's about it. There was a rice (IIRC) elevator explosion in Houston about 30 years ago, blew a guy clean off the top of some 100 ft plus concrete rice silos he was dead when he hit the ground... blew the top 15-20 feet off the silos and they abandoned the elevator and then imploded it for development about 10 years later... Later! OL J R :)
That was a flat bottom... it's just an air floor-- raised false floor with air slits in the metal so fans can blow air up through the corn to aerate it and prevent mold... Don't know if they have a dryer on that one or not... basically you add a propane or natural gas burner behind the fan and you've got a dryer... but even with dry grain you DO have to aerate it as the weather changes from warm to cold and back again to prevent condensation and mold... Cone bottom bins are usually much smaller and are used to hold grain that is frequently emptied out, not stored long-term... they're also a lot more expensive and can't hold as much grain for a given size because of the cone bottom... Another great video, leads to more questions. How far are you away from your dad's and brothers farms? Whose in the middle? Is it ever too late for rain for your crops? Do you rotate your crops to different fields? Do I ask too many questions?

Once the crops start drying the rain won’t do much to help, though we’ve had plenty up until now. We tend to rotate most of our fields between corn and beans to reduce Nitrogen fertilizer use. Never too many questions :)
I have a nice rebuilt 640 Kinze cart with large tires that would work well behind a 4640. Wish you were closer to buy it. There is no skilled labor to operate one. There is no market around here because most are much larger with articulating duels to go over sprinkler ruts and easily fill a semi in 2 minutes. A 4640 is very rare around here and not in daily use as all went to Mexico years ago.
Maybe someday you guys could get a grain vac I've used one for years sure takes a lot of the back braking shoveling out of it. Even used vac's are expensive
You need to get the Rino the side mount one and cut that grass, before you will no longer see that house...Is there a possibility to run both at the same time..just curious,, :))
It appears that the grain truck is limited by weight because it is only a single axle tractor.The driver needs a 2 axle tractor to fill the trailer to capacity.

Im surprised you don't have one of them Sthil Powered Brushes to sweep the bottom of that silo out. Would think it would be easer and quicker then all that shovelling.
Yeah, I guess... never seen an electric one... Agree it would save some work but as my Grandpa would have said, "that's the height of laziness!" If they had 20-30 bins, sure; save every step you can... but just a few-- hard work but it's a good workout... LOL:) Not much for ventilation in those bins lemme tell ya... not when you're in there cleaning it out. MAYBE you've got a little bitty side door open, MAYBE. (Looks like they just climbed in from the top!) Even the side doors don't provide much ventilation. Don't say, "just turn on the blower" either-- that would raise SO much dust you'd be choking for a week! Running a small engine in an enclosed space is a recipe for suicide... we have it happen every year nearly down here... we get a particularly cold spell or cold snap or ice storm, power goes off, some numb-nut will bring their gas-powered generator INDOORS to keep it from getting stolen, and gas themselves with carbon monoxide... People just don't have any sense anymore... Later! OL J R :)

Ya'll should pour concrete pads under the unload chute so you can just sweep up the spilt grain less waste

The 7600’s drawbar bends bad enough with the EZ-trail, let alone the Brent.
You should record more when you mix feed for the cows.

How come you couldn't load straight to the truck from grain bin, is the auger not tall enough to reach over the sides of the trailer?
This way the truck didn't have to wait 45 minutes for the auger to unload from the bin.
