I love those old Frito Lay bag designs, especially Doritos & Cheetos! I'm also glad that Pizza Hut today went back to the logo we see here, with a new tagline of course!
It’s always something when you see something you haven’t seen since childhood, even a commercial. I’m thinking of that Ziploc one with Dom DeLuise and the giant meatball.
2:40 - As has recently become much more well known, the McDonald's Monopoly game was the victim of a huge scam where a guy in charge of delivering all the game pieces kept the big winning pieces for himself, and then sold them. This was a scheme that ran from the late 80s all the way up to the very late 90s, I believe. People who played the game normally could only win food prizes, while the guy sold the big winning pieces to anyone who was interested. Some were family and friends, some were people outside his circle, and I think even the mob got involved. You know those commercials where they would show people who won cars or big cash prizes through the game? Those were all people connected to the scandal.
It wasn't rigged at all in the 80's...the rigging started in the mid 90's: www.cnbc.com/2020/02/07/how-mcmillions-scam-rigged-the-mcdonalds-monopoly-game.html
@@80sCommercialVault Obviously, you should take what you read on Wikipedia with a huge grain of salt, but the page on the HBO documentary about the scandal says it started in 89. Granted, one year after these commercials aired. Still, have since become fascinated by the whole story.
I remember this but my question is how did the person delivering the game pieces know which were winners and which wasn't it had be much bigger than was ever revealed had started at very top more people had be involved than just one or two had be many people
Steve Dunn! Hunk a burning love in '88!😽I had no idea he has been with KATU for so long. I made a delivey to the KATU studio & saw STeve Dunn. I got tounge tied when I saw him but he was so polite & said hello to me!😽He is still handsome & a class act!
Yeah I love too look back in the 80,s , especially when I seen Christopher Reeve the best & only guy to play superman , & now his son will reeve is a correspondent on Gma , he looks just like his dad , Happy Easter Everyone !!! 😘🐤🙏🕊
I've watched TV for years, for sure I was watching in 1988, but I never remember Payless ShoeSource having another name (apart from just being Payless now).
They actually operated stores under the Volume and Payless ShoeSource names at the time this aired, which makes it a bit confusing. In 1991 they consolidated their name to be just Payless.
@@80sCommercialVault Ah, that makes a lot of sense. I was wondering if it was more of a regional thing if it was Payless for as long as I could remember. Thanks for the info.
I miss this time... the 80s were the best and I had no idea back then as a kid. I still hear these catch phrases when I look at products today. The jingles really work! 😊
No "Supercarrier" tonight..? :( loved that show's theme song,at times it seemed like they were ripping off Top Gun for the aerial fights Snuggle-like a scene straight out of a "killer toys" movie Ziploc-that meatball looks like it'd take a while to cook Growing Pains-must've been a lot of alcohol at that party
0:46, 3:13-Gosh, those babies were cute! I too was a an ‘88 baby 🍼. Also, you are totally right about the need to keep the demon, Snuggle, away from the newborn. Snuggle is only deceptively adorable and innocent.
Watching these commercials puts a tear and a smile on my face.
I was four when these commercials aired and have the Doublemint Gum song stuck in my head for 32 years! I miss the 80s so much!
Me too!
Wow, the memories! Thanks so much. I really miss the 80's.

Well I'll be, I never knew the McDonalds Monopoly game went back to the 80s. I always thought that started in the 90s.
That Monopoly ad's rough to enjoy in hindsight

I remembered almost every commercial. Sometimes on older ones I only remember a few. I was born in 1980, so

I swear I've seen like 15 volumes of these commercials during Superman 2.
Gosh, I could win a shopping spree to Sears!
Wow..I'm surprised at "Volume ShoeSource" I think it was a good idea to change the name but not the logo ....or the tagline
Stealing Breaths? Ha! Snuggle bear is notorious for stealing clothes just like the underpants gnomes!

Snuggle Bear always gave me the creeps. His black, empty eyes stare into your soul O-O

muahaha
I'd rather have the dog!
@@melissacooper4482 Why not? We have two hands, don't we?
Supercarrier? Never heard of it. Oh it only lasted 8 episodes. No wonder why.
1:37 I haven't seen that full intro in years!
