    Hi Josh, worms don’t only feed on the cardboard but before it breaks down it provides them with a perfect “No tell motel” LOL and just so you know I didn’t come up with that myself, I went to a class on soil biology and we took a deep dive into worms.

    • @Citystead

      The Citystead oh it was great ☺️ I learned so very much. I also walked away with a free starter deli container of red wigglers. That was just this past spring, and they are already needing to be spilt to a second container or maybe just into my garden 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

    Great advice, we all seem to have an over abundance of cardboard. When I put down the weed mat the last time in my container garden I put cardboard underneath it and had only a couple places where the Bermuda grass grew through, which it will grow through most weed mats. Keep sharing you ideas.

    • @Citystead
      @Citystead  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hate the weed mat and then replanting stuff into it, it always gets torn up and messed up but the cardboard breaks down and does the same thing

    You don't have any problems the kids will use all of them...😁 You can also burn them and use the ashes. Ashes are great for the garden.

    I’m not saying this to talk shit. I’ve used and still use cardboard to grow plants on(so much Bermuda grass on the 1 acre I garden on). But lately I’ve been getting concerned about using it. For one I foster bunnies , and I’ve heard multiple stories of bunnies dying from chemical amazing puts on there boxes to prevent rodents. And I’m also worried about the lack ( I shouldn’t say lack there is nothing) of laws that regulate , prevent , or even publicly disclose what is sprayed on these boxes. And that’s keeping ink or bleach out of the argument, because you talked about it already.

    AWESOME. you can't even give away boxes nowadays. Just in time for mulching around my trees. Weeds always pop up through the pine needles. I was about to spend a grip of dough on weed blocker. Preparing my spring garden bed

    Works quicker if you shred it first. I bought the cheapest 12 sheet paper shredder from Amazon and now shred all their boxes. It's shared between my four worm farms. Incidently you mentioned shiny processed cardboard. I peel off the shiny fronts, leaving the plain cardboard underneath.

    I use cardboard all over my palatial estate of 1/4 acre. It works wonders and is a great item for composting. Just remember to remove any plastic tapes or labels that are not biodegradable. This includes the nylon reinforced paper tapes. Great video! Using our cardboard saves on garbage space in landfills too.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    • @Citystead

      I would say in a years time it will most likely we broken down all the way. It will draw up worms and they will eat at it also but if your soil is thick over it and you mulch then the weeds shouldn't be a problem

    There is no difference between the first cardboard box you shown and any of the others ALL of them are printed with the exact same Indirect NON FOOD GRADE ink which ingredients include items such as ammonia, dmea, paint thinner, anti foaming agents, and many other solvents, waterbased coating and lamination glue to adhere the paperboard sections together. NONE of it is safe to be ingested, and should never be used for your garden, I made the ink/coating for 15 years that went on that packaging. You are risking liability for telling the public to use a non food grade product in food consumption areas.

    Your video is like that overly proccessed piece of cardboard: So much fluff, cartoons and time wasting presentation before getting to your actual point.
    If your video is over two minutes in and you still haven't gotten to the main point, then you need to start editing your videos better. Structure them better and get to the point quicker. I understand adding a little flair to it, but be reasonable with it.
