"Mesmerize" and "Hypnotize" are absolute masterpieces. I can't believe they almost never happened because of Serj's creative differences with the rest of the band.
Can you elaborate ? Never heard of that story and it piqued my curiosity !
@@raphaelfillos6120 same here
@@raphaelfillos6120 They apparently had to BEG Serj to come do the two albums. By then it makes sense why they never made any albums since. I got this from an article that quoted Daron directly.
System of a Down is an absolute masterpiece.
@@TranceSFX at the time Daron went off, the drummer - i cant remember his name but he was upset at Serj taking all the blame and later he wrote an open letter stating as much, that they all shared a part in not being able to get along and make music. I think its quite true in a sense, but it is also true that Serj wanted to go other directions on things that they weren't willing to follow. That's Daron's take and it's fair to share his side. It's also fair that if Serj had little control over what the band was doing that they would have issues and not continue on. Daron is obviously a genius and really had almost everything to do with how amazing the albums sounded but serj had to fight for a lot of what he wanted to say with it so I get it. Still sadge. They are still friends.
I remember hearing this at a kid's birthday party for some reason

I was sat in a rock bar a couple of nights ago when someone put this on the jukebox, and a friend of a friend sat there, singing every word perfectly while bobbing his left and right nonchalantly in rhythm. It was one of the greatest things I have seen and renewed my love for this weird song!
This song helped me regain my sanity. I was living in Portland, letting people smoke meth around me, and getting into chaos magick. I kept getting stranded on the east side, after midnight when the trains had stop running, and having to walk up to 100 blocks back to my cold basement apartment. One night I wandered past an orange and white construction barrier that said "Nafisco" on it. I was immediately reminded of the "Non-stop disco, bet you it's Nabisco" line, and started singing this song. I hadn't listened to SOAD in several years, and was instantly reminded of who I had once been. Thank God for this band, I would be homeless or in an insane asylum if not for them
Um… yes?
I have fond memories of hearing this song during rides in my parents' car at 6 years old. Mom and Dad knew what they were doing.
they did know. they were rasing a child properly
they raised a man
My iPod mini got taken away in middle school, and the teacher told the principal she saw violent pornography on the screen. The principal called my parents in for a meeting and my dad says to her…”I left work for this?” 😂

It may not be their best known or most popular song, but for me this one ranks right up near the top.
I’m so in love with this song
I feel like this song is a message about TV and how it influences people with action movies and the news.
That's pretty spot on. Maybe a little off-topic but I can't help but think how RHCP had a song called "Throw Away Your Television" out in 2000s too.
Genuinely disheartened that I am 7 months late... youtube notifications are win... still darn glad to have finally stumbled upon this, top shelf indeed.
Very nice. This was My first System of a Down album, and they quickly became my favorite band. They're one of the only bands where I love every single song that they've made. Ironically, I think I might actually like all their other albums more now, but that might just be due to how many more times I've listened to this one. They're really the first bad that opened up to me that music was something more than just background noise.
Me and my now wife had this rolling on our playlist at our wedding, with a side flavour of rush, zeppelin, sabbath, tull and the beatles. Best wedding Ive ever attended 😅

Your dad is a cool dude.. Probably grew concerned once he became aware of k-pop and didn't want you lead down whatever road that might take a impressionable teen. I'm guessing not what a father has in mind for his boy. If you want to put a smile on your old man's face let him catch you listening too Tool any of their songs..
Your dad seems cool, my dad raised me and my siblings on metal most of my life :) I’d say this song is a bit too mature for a 13 year old but my dad used to blast Death (the band) when I was like 7 so ig it can’t be that bad 💀

Yeah, so unexpected to see this being uploaded an hour after it's posted. In 2021. I only checked my subscriptions to find a drummer I just subbed to.
