Now if only they were combined..... some modern offshoot of the Keepers, "build" pseudo-vampires using their craft instead of being a viral agent, instead they make a new predatory post-human chimera.
The Mediterranean expedition could be extended to study Cyclopes, Centaurs, and see what the differences would be in fauns and satyrs; if there’s is a difference at all.
Perhaps this is foreshadowing the existence of the Chimaera. I’d imagine the Chimaera as having the same origin as the Minotaur. However unlike the Minotaur which was kept properly contained, the Chimaera was able to escape. It went on a rampage, killing anything or anyone unfortunate enough to get in its way. It would probably have the body plan and head of a large African Lion, The horns and short temper of a goat, and the scaly tail and venomous bite of a snake.
The Nemean lion is probably another of the "experiments." While not as odd as a Chimera, it's clear that someone had messed with that lion's growth and muscles.
Could also be foreshadowing of Echidna and Typhon, two major players in the creation of several ancient monsters from Greek mythology. Including Cerberus, Chimera, and the Lernaean Hydra. Both of their parents were monsters that also had several features grotesquely combined from different creatures.
Aint the nemenean lion just a big lion? Wouldn't need an experiment to make a big lion. There are cats already with a super muscolar frame because of a genetic defect.

@@ThoughtPotatoI would appreciate more sea creatures, Kraken, Leviathan. Also a flying creature would be interesting, maybe a Roc, seeing how large you could realistically get an eagle would be interesting. I wonder how close you could get to the legend of them carrying off young elephants.

@@ianswinford5570 minotaur is still fundamentally linked to material aspects, it is a funky chimera, kitsune would be far harder imo due to their natural link to magic and how would that transfer over
I have only one critique: in a scientifically accurate Minotaur, the horns should be jutting forward from the skull's frontal bones, as they're the only ones from which horns have been observed to sprout in mammals.
@@KiraiKatsuji It may not be natural, but it was created through genetic chimerization, and the bovine DNA used to produce it allows horns to grow only from those two bones in particular.
@@fabiomorandi3585 LIke yeah but also it being jambled with all those other parts would probably mess somethings, like with the visible irregularity in the growth of body parts

Especially when the origin of the knowledge is left unknown or only hinted on. Like a character saying: "Some say that this knowledge came from the stars, other say that it was brought by the people, who came to this land after their kingdom was lost to the depths."
Still want to see a video like this about Goatman, Jersey Devil, Devil Monkey, Mapungari, Lake Monsters, Dover Demon, and the many prehistoric cryptids of the Congo. Edit: and the Bishopville lizard man, Thunderbird, Sasquatch species from around the globe, The Salawa and The Nandi Bear
hell yea, i remember having as a kid book called monsterology, or atlas of monster, something like that, i forgot and wanted to find exact book for years. There was ton of cool creatures from all over the world, japan, china, germany, poland/slavic countries,US,canada, south america and afrika. literally dozens of different monsters like big ass moth or butterfly from japan/china, leviathan, jersey devil, kappa, slavic witches, baba jaga, minotaur, and even some pretty odd that you dont really hear about, i still remember this one till today, there was a small monster, about child height, was living in shadows in your closet or under the bed, and was killing their prey in their sleep with his long ass sharp teeths and nails
I love Greek Mythology, the Minotaur is one of my favourite legends from it. Great video, can't wait to see your other interpretations on Greek mythological creatures after the Manticore and this!
I might give you an explanation for the Goatman of urban myth: The Goatman is, in actuality, an unknown species of primate, with goat like horns on its head and the ability to produce a stench similar to that of a ring-tailed lemur. The stench itself has an extra effect on whatever smells it: it can cause visual and auditory hallucinations, which could explain why people who claim to have a close encounter with the animal had different physical descriptions. Let's see how you would expand on this unorthodox idea.
I love that the minotaur is so bizarre in it's form that even Thought Potato can't make it make sense scientifically. He can exlpain how you become a vampire, werewolf or a zombie. He can even tell how it'll work out if one is infected by another (really interesting video btw) but the Minotaur defies explanation if magic isn't involved somehow. That said, going through the monster manual should be a treasure trove of fun video ideas. You've already done some of them. If I had to pick one I'd say displacer beast. Great video in any case 🤘stay weird
It feels like your building some kind horror cinematic universe where this order of the minotaur and the ancient Egyptian secret cult that's responsible for the ressurection of the mummy are one and the same and I'm guessing possibly funded the creation of frankensteins monster. Of course that's just my guess but i think it sound's really awesome and interesting idea. Keep up the good work man.
Amid people listing all of the creatures they want to see featured with apparent complete disregard for the present video they're responding to, this is a great vid, Thought Potato. Back from a harrowing stint among virals, at least for a bit, but the lore grows with a different type of creature from the ones we've seen before - as well as the beginning of the breakup of the team, a tantalizing new location, and who *is* this Lassander exactly?
Loved this. Biology of the cyclops would seem to go along with this thematically as another oversized humanoid from classical mythology. I’ve seen other videos about speculative science of the cyclops, but I never considered the minotaur as a bioengineered specimen. You did a great job. Creepy in all the right ways. I actually like this more than the original minotaur. A very welcome addition to your shared universe of cryptobiology.
Amazing as always. If I may make my own request, I think delving into the various kinds of "snake-folk" in mythology could be fascinating, akin to how you covered multiple mermaid type creatures
I have been on vacations to crete annually for most of my life and have visited knossos multiple times, so this video was such a pleasure to watch. It was fascinating to see a biological breakdown of how the minotaur could have worked. Also, the absolute and compelte mispronunciation of both Heraklion and Knossos was kind of fitting for the character I think.
The Plain of Thessaly was the site of the battle between the Titans and the Olympians in Greek mythology - since the si-teh-cah exist in this world and it was hinted in the video that others could exist somewhere, maybe this is hinting towards that? Also, someone suggested that Atlanteans could have made the Minotaur, which I think is also a really cool idea.
The mountian range of Thessaly also include Mount Olympus and if the texts supposedly were used to create a creature attributed to Poseidon who is a God.... 👀👀👀👀👀👀
@@VisualEnjoyer9756 Yeah, I didn't notice that when I searched it up before. Now that I think about it, it's probably likely that the ancient group that created the Minotaur are the Olympians.

Hi Thought Potato! I have been really surprised about the solution that You chose to bring to life this creature, and I am also glad who you decided to pick it. The Minotaur is one of the most important figures in classical myths (and its story is almost an archetype of horror stories). As said before, Your various designs for its physical appearance were very interesting (particularly the unused one seen on Patreon, which reminded me of the short appearance of the twisted portrait of the creature in "Wrath of the Titans" 2013). By the explanation provided inside the video, the mysterious group that brought to life this hybrid might not have been on its first try ... So I wondered if, in the future, we could find out if these Minoans gathered this "life-shaping" knowledge from previous cultures from middle-east. In particular by Sumerians, which, in the "Tale of Gilgamesh", described how the god Anu specifically created the being known as Enkidu (often depicted as a savage man-beast with bull features). I thought about this scenario, recalling the more modern tales and hypothesis about the Annunaki's engineering on Earth, in the same area known by the stories of the Old Testament (... and that may have some correlation with the mysterious Mr. Semyaza). My best regards to You!
I don't think the Annunaki had anything to do with that, they were just princely type beings or something like royalty, if I am remembering correctly. I guess I should go and read the Enuma Elis again. It's been a long while. Maybe I am wrong.
That was a fascinating video. I wonder if these Keepers and the ancient egyptian cult responsible for the "living mummies" might not have been related. Perhaps a continuation of an ancient culture, if not an attempt at perfecting similar processes of manipulating living beings into new forms
That’s what I thought! How that order of priests in Egypt and Keepers both seem intent to seize control of biological mastery of the human body. And consider that Egypt and Greece had some back and forth via trade and social relations, it is likely that these two groups are either splinter sects of the same order or still part of one huge order with local “branches.”
3:52 "but the fact that the letter was handwritten gave me a pause" isn't that like all written letters? what's so unusual about a "hand written" letter?

Ok, so, the whole video was a banger (as always) but the reference to Thessaly at the end was really something notable. For those who don't know, in the ancient world, Thessaly was famous (or infamous) for the witches living there, so I expect the next episode to be inherent to thessalian witches or at least reference them, as well
Especially when you consider that everyone involved (besides King Minos) is a victim in their own way. His wife - struck by divine wrath for her husband's assholery, especially in the way said wrath was delivered, and things snowball from there. Minotaur - imprisoned underground for most of his life Daedalus and Icarus: the former was used for his intelligence, the latter was the former's son, and they got imprisoned Athenian teens: the ultimate victims Theseus: one of those, but gets help
Classical mythology: HOORAY! (Or perhaps I should say, "opa!") It's so nice to take a break from modern horror and sci-fi, every once in a while, and Greco-Roman myth was some of the first "high fantasy" I was ever exposed to, as a kid. Meanwhile, this form of anachronistic genetic engineering during gestation isn't without precedent in fiction: a little known book called "Hellstone" uses it as part of a particularly inventive story about Loch Ness. It also foreshadows the many forms & adaptations of "The Island of Dr. Moreau," a story that you might very well be able to tie in with this video (hint, hint) as part of the same plotline. Great work!!!

I would not know about this for a good while, not until [illegible] came back. I almost wished I didn’t, particularly because I feared this ancient order was still around, lurking in the shadows... ...or right in front of us. -K
If my memory of Greek myth serves, there's a lot in Thessaly. My guess is either our intrepid researcher is about to storm Mt. Olympus, Kratos-style, or we're going to see more of the Labyrinth Keepers' handiwork.
Hey man, great video! I just wanted to inform you that part 1 of the Vampire Zombie videos isn't in the playlist. Just wanted to let you know, keep up the good work!
I’m sure everyone has a dream cryptobiology video, and after giving it some thought, I’m certain mine is the Yara-ma-yha-who. Not fully sure how you’d justify some of the more outlandish traits of the creature, but that’s half the fun
I know this had me hyped up for whatever discovery's in store for the mountains of Thessaly, but this has me wondering... could the infamous "Leeds Devil" of New Jersey be a similar novel organism...?? 🤔
So, I take it this creature's backstory is used to further tie into the greater mythos of this channel the idea of Plato's Atlantis (and similar concepts in myths), in the sense that there existed a pre-antiquity civilization or multiple civilizations which were more advanced than we could imagine and have since faded into myth. Their strong presence around the Mediteranean stretching into Asia Minor, North Africa and the Middle East explaining the well documented myths of chimeric creatures. A precursor civilization with shockingly advanced knowledge of biology and flesh manipulation perhaps? Hmmm...
What's more scarier than the Minotaur is who it was created. An ancient (pretty much) cult of scientists creating a creature and achieving something modern science still isn't able to. Maybe a part 2... Maybe
This is the first video of yours I've seen, kinda sucks that i have to watch all the other videos to get the lore. Though it's probably a very interesting series.
The mountains of Thessaly eh? Careful of the certain giant mantids mistakenly claimed to be weird hexapodal horsemen that're said to roam there...! ;) I wonder & hope if Nessie biology will be one of, if not the very first entries chronologically, can def see the juicy Sasquatch episode/entry or even Unicorn be if not, then~!
Leaving a comment before I'm even 1/10th through the video. Fantastic work! Can you one day do the Ningen (think I spelled that correctly - giant Japanese Arctic humanoid)
awesome video. a great lesser-known American cryptid you could make a video on would be the Hodag or the Rock Slide Bolter. They both would very interesting. Also, eagerly hoping for an eventual vampire-werewolf vide!
One linguistic anecdote. The name or the words are actually MINOI TUR. The word Tur (Tour) is actually for specific type of cattle lat. *Bos Primigenius* , which was prevalent in the past in throughout the Europe, Middle East and North Africa. So the name or wording meaning can be translated as Minoan Tur, or Cattle. But since the Tur is general meaning for type of large cattle, it was not differentiated between females and males, so it can also mean large Bull, MINOAN BULL. Take it as you will.
This one should be rather interesting. 😮 Edit: And it absolutely was. The Minotaur is such a fascinating and terrifying monstrosity powerfully built. Excellent video!

1. Minotaur: According to Greek mythology, the Minotaur was the son of Pasiphae, Queen of Crete, and a bull. However, some scholars suggest that the story of the Minotaur may have its origins in a genetic disease called "Hypertrichosis Syndrome", which causes excessive growth of body hair.

some modern offshoot of the Keepers, "build" pseudo-vampires using their craft instead of being a viral agent, instead they make a new predatory post-human chimera.
I'm hopeful we'll get centaurs soon.
The Mediterranean expedition could be extended to study Cyclopes, Centaurs, and see what the differences would be in fauns and satyrs; if there’s is a difference at all.
I wonder how the scientists will describe the chimera 🦁🐍🐐
LETS GET THIS COMMENT TO THE TOP
Centaurs were said to reside in the mountains of Thessaly. So the next video will 100% be centaurs.
I would love to see an explanation as to how baby centaurs can keep their heads up.
Until Bellerophon killed the Chimaera.
Aint the nemenean lion just a big lion?
Wouldn't need an experiment to make a big lion.
There are cats already with a super muscolar frame because of a genetic defect.
yes that sounds so cool 😎
Hey Thought Potato! I love your videos! Here are some future video ideas:
-Pegasus
-The Thunder bird
-Unicorn
-The Goatman
-The Jersey Devil
-The Loch Ness Monster
-The Bigfoot
-The Yeti
-The Ahool
-The Dover Demon
-The Centaur
-The Griffin
-The Cyclops
-The Chimera
-The Hippogriff
-The Hippocampus
-The Harpy
-The Kraken
-The Sphinx (I think that it would be a close cousin of the Manticore)
-Etc
I know that this is a lot but these are just some ideas that come to mind- especially the sphinx seeing as how I’d probably be somewhat related to the Manticore.
The Kelpie would also be interesting.

I genuinely appreciate the ideas! I am definitely taking note.
The hippocampus is part of your brain 💀
Interesting take on the Minotaur.
Thank you!!
You members are so lucky lol
@@ThoughtPotatoI would appreciate more sea creatures, Kraken, Leviathan. Also a flying creature would be interesting, maybe a Roc, seeing how large you could realistically get an eagle would be interesting. I wonder how close you could get to the legend of them carrying off young elephants.
Babe wake up, new Thought Potato vid dropped
It's curious how 2 content creators have reimagined 2 creatures from Greek mythology at a similar time.
Will you do your own exploration of the minotaur later?)
Love your artwork!
Thanks so much, love your work!
Trolls, ogres, Kitsune, the Ahool from Java, the Jersey Devil, goblins, maybe even the Harpies. I look forward to seeing what else you’ve got planned, Professor!
Kitsune would be hard and interesting due their heavy link to magic
@@najlitarvan921 If he can make the Minotaur of all monsters look scientifically plausible, then the Kitsune should be no real problem for him, eh?
@@ianswinford5570 minotaur is still fundamentally linked to material aspects, it is a funky chimera, kitsune would be far harder imo due to their natural link to magic and how would that transfer over

I always thought it was weird that the Minotaur just went, "yep, time to eat human flesh!" Like, Mr. Cow-man should be outside nomming down grass...
I know right, Lego has in my opinion, the best minotaur.
Accroding to that lego book I got at a scholastic boom fair....or somewhere.
it was part of poseidons curse
I have only one critique: in a scientifically accurate Minotaur, the horns should be jutting forward from the skull's frontal bones, as they're the only ones from which horns have been observed to sprout in mammals.
>Bro doesn't know about the lower human horn
That would mess with humanoid and predatory eye placment though
Yes if this creture was natural which it isn't
@@KiraiKatsuji It may not be natural, but it was created through genetic chimerization, and the bovine DNA used to produce it allows horns to grow only from those two bones in particular.
@@fabiomorandi3585 LIke yeah but also it being jambled with all those other parts would probably mess somethings, like with the visible irregularity in the growth of body parts
Thessaly is the home of the centaur, so I bet we're getting centaurs next. I love this storyline of an advanced ancient civilization, I hope we get to see more of them, maybe they're Atlantis. I'd love to see a video about kitsune, oni, or other Yokai.
Those are extremely interesting. I hope he does a video on them as well
hell yea, i remember having as a kid book called monsterology, or atlas of monster, something like that, i forgot and wanted to find exact book for years.
You're hashing out some good ideas. I hope he does these in the future
Yes!
All of these!
I agree
Dang Sarkic cults are everywhere man
Typical sarkcist behavior smh
Damn you Yaldabaoth, keep your slimy tendrils to yourself
Add another Sarkic cult sect to the list… again.
I'm increaingly convinced the Labyrinth Keepers, the Order of the Resurrected Sun, and possibly even Dr.Allerac himself were Sarkites.
I love Greek Mythology, the Minotaur is one of my favourite legends from it. Great video, can't wait to see your other interpretations on Greek mythological creatures after the Manticore and this!

This world you've created deserves a TV Show, bro.
I might give you an explanation for the Goatman of urban myth:
The Goatman is, in actuality, an unknown species of primate, with goat like horns on its head and the ability to produce a stench similar to that of a ring-tailed lemur.
Keep up the good work man.
omg that sounds so cool
Such snake hybrids such as Gorgons, Nagas or Şahmeran needs to be examined. Mammalian hybrids always seem more plausible but I want to see others too.
me too
Well birds are warn blooded reptiles and there was an acient goat that was colder blooded and grew like reptiles so it might work
Amid people listing all of the creatures they want to see featured with apparent complete disregard for the present video they're responding to, this is a great vid, Thought Potato. Back from a harrowing stint among virals, at least for a bit, but the lore grows with a different type of creature from the ones we've seen before - as well as the beginning of the breakup of the team, a tantalizing new location, and who *is* this Lassander exactly?
Much appreciated :) Thanks for watching!
Wait, where was a lassander mentioned?
I like how you leave the chronology open-ended and cryptic to make it possible to insert new journal entries
It would be cool if the cyclop was a hybrid of a man and a elephant since the legend of cyclops was born from an elephant skull
In the real world, the Minoans were the real Atlanteans.

@@housewilma4904 They don't have Wakanda-level technology - as described in the video, their knowledge of genetic manipulation was crude, but still very advanced for their time, seemingly quite anachronistic.
This REALLY makes me hope you do Medusa, this was awesome!!
A very tragic creature.. lived its life in a dark cavern, got just enough food to keep it alive, and was probably uncomfortable in its own flesh.. that's really sad.
Sometimes I find a channel that causes me to have to make a statement: that was so unbelievably well-made that it forced me to subscribe, and I am actually pretty well versed in a human anatomy and physiology, and I still got lost sometimes listening to you! Seriously, well done, take your sub!
I feel like whoever genetically engineered the Minotaur might've used the Bull and Poseidon as a scapegoat to hide their intentions.
"Your queen gave birth to this monster because... she was in love with that bull! She was put under a spell because you didn't sacrifice it to Poseidon and this is your punishment!"
That would be an interesting lore snippet
This was a pretty interesting piece of work, you did a nice job, TP! I look forward to what's in the Mountains of Thesally, but I hope it's worth while!
I’d love to see your take on Kelpies and Selkies, they’re both from UK/Scottish folklore and I think they’d both make very interesting videos.
The minotaur in the maze is the original version of "monster in the backrooms."
I’d love for you to include the mngwa, the sphinx, Medusa, The cryptids of Congo and more!!

The incredible detail, effort and skill that goes into your excellent work is clear and impressive. I particularly enjoyed the expansion of the story behind our investigator. Keep it up!!
Also, I’d recommend a look into some Australian cryptids. As a kid I was particularly haunted by the Bunyip and its glowing red orb eyes rising out of the water.
I’m taking an anatomy class at the moment, and the in-depth descriptions of the bodily differences using the human body systems are actually helping me remember and memorize the specific names of said human body systems.
So, thank you for that. Keep up the good work. 😃👍🏽
I always loved the biology and this one is no exception and of late I've been finding myself more and more drawn in by the background story.
so cool! was so excited to see another one of your videos pop up! Always a delight to delve into mythological specimens

Can't help but notice that the usual disclaimer about having been found in the archives at Angelwood university was missing. Could this recording have been hidden somewhere else, perhaps censored by someone trying to keep it hidden?
would love to see a video on Nagas as well, half human half snake since they're not typically covered as extensively
I love how you always add tiny twists to all these classic myths, folktale and cryptids!
I really love the background story going on in these videos. A mix of biology/anthropology/cryptozoology that I really vibe with. I hope someday we’ll have the whole backstory so someone can make a playlist in chronological order of what happened with the professor.
You’re continued or dumps and exceptional. Storytelling is the highlight of my week whenever I see these dropped! Please continue to make these amazing things and please continue to feed us breadcrumbs!
I can’t say I actually can go along with this being a reality but the presentation of the video is very compelling and fascinating.
Just wanna say this is one of my favorite series on TH-cam. I adore the rationale behind all of these fantastical creatures. Thank you for making these and putting so much into them! Fantastic work!
Ok, so, the whole video was a banger (as always) but the reference to Thessaly at the end was really something notable. For those who don't know, in the ancient world, Thessaly was famous (or infamous) for the witches living there, so I expect the next episode to be inherent to thessalian witches or at least reference them, as well
I love minotaurs as a monster concept. the labyrinth myth has always interested me
Especially when you consider that everyone involved (besides King Minos) is a victim in their own way.
His wife - struck by divine wrath for her husband's assholery, especially in the way said wrath was delivered, and things snowball from there.
Minotaur - imprisoned underground for most of his life
Daedalus and Icarus: the former was used for his intelligence, the latter was the former's son, and they got imprisoned
Athenian teens: the ultimate victims
Theseus: one of those, but gets help
the way i waited all day to watch this im so excited i love these videos
Hopefully, it's centaurs there. It would be amazing if we actually had an interview with a living specimen.

If my memory of Greek myth serves, there's a lot in Thessaly. My guess is either our intrepid researcher is about to storm Mt. Olympus, Kratos-style, or we're going to see more of the Labyrinth Keepers' handiwork.

I know this had me hyped up for whatever discovery's in store for the mountains of Thessaly, but this has me wondering... could the infamous "Leeds Devil" of New Jersey be a similar novel organism...?? 🤔
Exceptional work as always
This makes me really, really hope for a video on satyrs!
Maybe
24:26 I am sad to inform you that Grammic A has not been decoded, so we this would be a dead end

22:50 HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! IS THAT A MOTHERFUCKING TNO REFERENCE???
One linguistic anecdote. The name or the words are actually MINOI TUR. The word Tur (Tour) is actually for specific type of cattle lat. *Bos Primigenius* , which was prevalent in the past in throughout the Europe, Middle East and North Africa.
So the name or wording meaning can be translated as Minoan Tur, or Cattle. But since the Tur is general meaning for type of large cattle, it was not differentiated between females and males, so it can also mean large Bull, MINOAN BULL.
Take it as you will.
This one should be rather interesting. 😮
Edit: And it absolutely was. The Minotaur is such a fascinating and terrifying monstrosity powerfully built. Excellent video!
