Yup, I hate it when swarf gets around the glasses. I ended up buying goggles for sanding because of it. They suck when it's hot, but at least I can see easily.
Yep…been there done that. Nowadays…I order safety glasses by the 12 pack….about a $1.50 each. I keep them everywhere….because after 6 months of needless misery due to a failure to protect my eyes, I have learned an expensive lesson in pain.
Just remember that if you ever need an MRI of your upper body to get an orbit X-ray and make sure there are not other little pieces in there. I worked in a shop with lots of metal in the air for years and have done this several times. Yes, metal dust can float.
I know that your going through. About 2 months ago, I was working, and a bungee cord, I was securing, released, and hit my eye, and scratches the cornea. Eye doctor put a lens in the eye for a few weeks. I would guess my eye was sore for 3 weeks. But I was back at it in a couple days. Have a final checkup in a few weeks. Good luck
My father in law the diesel mechanic used to use the dulled point of a number two pencil to pick metal out of your eye. Worked every time! Ha! Todd Konoske the retired trucker.
Years ago I was working in a shipyard welding and grinding. I got something in my eye so I went to the dispensary. They found a small piece of metal and removed it. Years went by and I had a job that involved a lot of heavy lifting. I hurt my back and had to have an MRI. They interview and ask you a 100 questions before they will give you the MRI. Somehow I remembered that eye thing. They found that I still had a piece in my eye. The very strong magnets will try to pull the metal out of your body. No fun!! Never forget that eye injury!!
Whew , I am glad that you have some good friends there to help out when you need them.. Got to take care of your eyes man , they are the only ones that you have. Thumbs UP to you and Becky! I had to laugh when Poppy jumped up onto Beckys shoulder. LOL
I was a millwright and welder for the first half of my life, and I am now 77. Along the way I had many pieces of steel removed and they healed up fine, all but one. It hit my cornea near enough to the center that I didn't know it was there until the piece rusted. My eyelids didn't scrape on it because it was between them. The next day it got very painful and I went to the doctor. He sent me to a specialist because the rust had to be ground out, a process every couple of weeks and then once a month for a year. I lost some of the vision for a few years, but as the scar got smaller, most of my vision returned. When you get older your eyeballs change slightly and it was enough to move the scar partially back into my line of vision, something I now have to live with. My point is don't take it lightly, we weren't given two eyes so we would have a spare! Over the years I still found a way to get steel in my eyes, but not as often. I always wore some type of protection, and I wear glasses which helped, but not always. After another decade of having steel dug out of my eyes I finally discovered most of the steel was from rubbing my eyes hours later and dragging it out of my eyebrows and hair. I now close my eyes and blow my hair and face clean with an air hose. Try it, it works. I enjoy the program as I am still an avid offroader.
I am so thankful you got your eye taken care of as soon as you did. It could have gotten bad quickly. Prayers good thoughts and well wishes to recover soon with no unforeseen problems.
I've done that myself. Safety glasses and ear protection and some chunks still got in. I was doing some serious grinding. I have a different type of safety glasses now. My nose is too wide for the usual ones I guess. The relief of having that stuff out of there is beyond words. You've got a cool Doc there. Thanks for taking us along.
I was standing 75 feet away from someone welding and as soon as the hammer struck the slag a piece went through my glasses and into my eye. I drove my self 75 miles to the Opthamologist with one eye. He used a magnet to remove the sliver. I had to wear an eye patch and not use either eye for 10 days back in the 70s. Metal in the eye is no joke. I wear three layers of eye protection now. No messing around with flap discs or grinding discs.
Casey we are praying for you a healing in that eye . I e fought mine for years and it’s tough but I had an employee explode a grinding wheel on a grinder and it went through the safety glasses 20 years ago and it took him over a year to heal but thank God he healed !
The old googles are better for grinding than just glasses. I had to wear googles at work and had a heck of a time seeing thru them, but still got paid even if you could not see what you where doing that well. Nice catch Becky, nothing like being attacked with love when you are taking a video. Hope your eye heals quickly. Be safe.
I know how you feel Casey. Where I used to work I was cutting reebar with a chop saw and a peice melted in my corneia . And the Dr had to pick it out with a needle. That sucked.
Had a similar experience and when the doc came at me with that needle his hands were shaking like a nervous dog. I almost bolted out of his office. He excused himself, came back after a few minutes, reeking of gin. But his hands were steady as a rock and he got the particle out.
@@carlward Yeah I wasn't so lucky he had to pick at it tell he broke the what ever is over your eye. I don't think it's skin but boy did that hurt. It melted in that quick wow.

I feel for ya Casey. In 1992 we bought a brand new F250. Back in those days, if you wanted a hitch on a truck, that was an after market affair. I got a good deal on a Reese at my local membership warehouse. I was under the back of the truck drilling holes -- the safety glasses kept the shavings out of my eyes. I crawled out from under the truck and started walking toward the house and a gust of wind blew a piece of dirt up off of the sidewalk, under the bottom of the safety glasses and into my eye. Next day I drove my 86 Ranger to my doctor's office and she got most of it out with a cotton swab. She then patched my eye and told me to come see her in the morning so she could check it. She also said I couldn't drive. So I walked home (2 blocks, no big deal). Next day I walked back over to her office she removed the patch and determined there was still something in my eye. She got me an appointment with an opthamologist in the next town over for the next afternoon. She patched my eye up again but told me I could take the patch off in the morning and drive. Well the Ranger was still parked at her office, so I drove the F250 to work. After work I drove to the opthamologist. She picked the remains of the dirt out of my eye with a hypodermic needle. I'm not sure who was steadier, me or her. Then she patched up my eye and told me I couldn't drive, and made a follow up appointment with my regular doctor for the next morning. I called my wife and she swung by and picked me up on her way home from work. Next morning I walked over to my doctor's office for the follow up. I told her I hope I didn't have to drive some place else and end up leaving a vehicle behind because I was running out of trucks. She looked at my eye and said it was still a little swollen, but there was nothing left in it. She patched it up and told me I would be able to take the patch off the next day and be fine. So I walked home. The next day (fortunately a Saturday) my wife and I went around collecting our trucks from doctor's parking lots.

Yup. Had them before. Underneath the truck drilling a hole in frame. If you ever go to have an MRI... they will X-Ray your eyes to make sure you don't have any leftover fragments of metal in them.
I got some metal in my eye once. It bounced around the safety glasses and stuck in there good. It hurt pretty bad and scratched up my eyelid too. I went to harbor freight and bought a dozen pairs of goggles right after that to use for grinding.
good luck with your eye. Like you my wife has to drive me around for now. I will find out in 5 days if they can fix it. I WILL NOT drive without good sight and put other people in danger.

I feel your pain Casey! I've lost count on how many times I've had metal removed from my eyes and the rust dremeled out. Always with safety glasses on one time I felt it hit My cheek only to bounce off the glasses. The most painful thing that was in my eye was a fiberglass fiber! I always wear safety glasses and heavy duty insulated welding gloves when using a grinder. I learned the reason why they call it a death wheel when I had one explode and take the flesh from the bone from the tip to the middle of my finger and broke the end of my finger. It just cleaned my gloves where it hit. That was two years ago and I'm still using the same pair of gloves since they were unharmed. It was 30k to get my finger reconstructed. Was miserable for a number of days before we finally got it out. Hello light bulb had broken off light socket I had you removed the remains of, put on a pair of safety glasses still ended up with a piece of glass in the eye. About 10 years ago eye doctor said I have 13 scars on my right lens, seven scars on my left lens. May explain, the reason why I have focusing difficulties at times with my right eye. Hope no scaring of your lens.
I did the same thing twice two separate times with a angle grinder I just stuck a neodymium magnet over it came right out... first one was in for 2 days before I got that bright idea
Be careful buddy I got shrapnel in my eyes I can't get MRI with back surgery coming up they could not just pinpoint so it will be a big cut instead of small holes instead of a few days recovering it's going to be months
Hey Casey's off-road and recovery!, I hope this eye👁🗨 problem is just a little hiccup for the new year!! ??? And may you have a speedy recovery to start off the new year BETTER!!!👍👍✌️🙏🙏🙏🤔🤔
I had metal in my eyes 11 years ago. 7 pieces in my left and 5 in my right eye. The most painful 24 hours of my life. I too was grinding on some metal at work.
Casey I am glad it wasn't anything serious I was a little concerned when you said you got bad news from the eye doctor. I always look forward to your videos and I don't want to see anything bad happen to you guys are like family to me
Well that wasn't too bad!! Nice recovery. Mud is crazy to drive in... almost a nuts as slushy snow. Just never know which way it's going to sling you. Hope your eye heals quickly. I had a similar experience years ago... had to go the eye doctor to get a piece of metal out. Lucky for me the only thing left was a "rust ring". I had apparently gotten the metal out myself with the gum I used. He buffed the rust ring and gave me some salve/ointment to put in for two or three days. Good as new.
Im so glad your eyes feeling better Casey safety glasses are ok but ive always use welding glasses for torch welding the ones with the screen side sheilds
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery ive noticed since i was a kid saftey glasses have changed markedly from my youth and my early jobs with manufactureing companies they always seemed to lean toward the cheaper glasses made of lexan or plastic when i was in vocational school i had broad studies from auto manufacturing auto body brakes and steering geometry and was well skilled for the time, i even took extra classes in fabrication welding and machineing and the glasses and goggles id had were better suited to sitting on top of ones head than on your face as they fogged up and allowed debris to circumvent the ppe and get into your eyes ,when i was a teen i worked alot with my grandfathers and they gave me their eye protection which were impact resistant glassand screen side sheilds with adjustable bows. Honest to goodness geek ware the kind of glasses that scare the girls away. And wouldnt you know id find the one girl who thought i was sexiest with them on lol go figure.
They make these new things called safety glasses, they really seem to help by keeping stuff out of your eyes that aren't supposed to be there. After sticking a piece of steel in my eye, I learned all about them. Maybe you should learn that too?
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery I can vividly remember how badly it hurt and the relief when the doc pulled it out with a big magnet. I had to wear an eyepatch for a few days because they didn't want my eyeball moving around aggravating the wound. Fortunately, eyeballs heal fast.

The real boss
I did the same thing twice two separate times with a angle grinder I just stuck a neodymium magnet over it came right out... first one was in for 2 days before I got that bright idea
That was easy hopefully your eye is getting better 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hope the eye settles down soon. Good luck
Be careful buddy I got shrapnel in my eyes I can't get MRI with back surgery coming up they could not just pinpoint so it will be a big cut instead of small holes instead of a few days recovering it's going to be months
Speedy recovery mate take care of yourself from down under 👍🇦🇺👍
Nice recovery Casey! Hope your eye gets better soon!!!🙋♂️💯🙏❤️
Thanks we are good to go. Eyes heal up pretty quick.
Hey Casey's off-road and recovery!, I hope this eye👁🗨 problem is just a little hiccup for the new year!! ??? And may you have a speedy recovery to start off the new year BETTER!!!👍👍✌️🙏🙏🙏🤔🤔
Wishing you a speedy recovery
Love your Videos ... BUT , There is NO WAY I can watch an eyeball being worked on. May you fully recover my friend.
Had to fast forward.
I had metal in my eyes 11 years ago. 7 pieces in my left and 5 in my right eye. The most painful 24 hours of my life. I too was grinding on some metal at work.
Nice of them to turn on the bridge lights for Becky there at the end! 🙂
Indeed!
Damn! Sorry to see that mate! You need better safety glasses! Wish you the best in the future!
Speedy recovery!
I've had metal shavings in my eye and it's not fun hope your eye gets better
Your eye closeup reminds me of Ernest/ Hey Vern guy. Hope it heals quickly.
Got to take care of them eyes. Nice recovery.
Safety Googles next Time !!!
It's easy to touch your eye with a small piece of metal that gets stuck in your eye. It can easily happen.
Casey you fortunate! Better get you some really good goggles. Pot calling kettle black!🙁
Casey I am glad it wasn't anything serious I was a little concerned when you said you got bad news from the eye doctor.
I always look forward to your videos and I don't want to see anything bad happen to you guys are like family to me
You've convinced me to buy some safety glasses! Scary stuff!
Thanks 👍
Glad to see👀that you are recovering👍🏻✌🏻Take care.🚙🚙
Im so glad your eyes feeling better Casey safety glasses are ok but ive always use welding glasses for torch welding the ones with the screen side sheilds
The one's I always use obviously aren't good enough.
I need goggles apparently. I always wear eye and ear protections...and waaaammmm ooooo r
Awsome an eye doc.You are very lucky to have access to an optical Doctor, I hope they get it out it can be very dangerous, anything to do with the eye. Gerald. New Zealand.
Hope the ol' eyechronometer heals with no ill effects. Pretty cool video!
All the best there Casey,I am shore you are in good hands with doctor wife cheers mate
