As an alcoholic who is trying to transition to sobriety. This brings tears to my eyes each time. Over 7 years ago I heard this before my addiction. Now its my entire life.
I've been clean since may 7th 2010, this song keeps shit green for sure man. Buckle up, there's a lot of curveballs you wouldn't expect. That's half the payoff. Pulling for you stranger 💜🙌
This is amazing. Who'da thought that jawbreaker turns out to be pretty awesome Americana. This song rips my heart out. I've been jamming it for a long time. The original has the anger and regret that all we feel sometimes, but the cover really shows a more mature side of the song. Way more compassion or something. I don't really know how to say it, but it seems to have a lot more love in it when it's ayes this way.
nik firm i guess you could call the original "angry". it was recorded just before blake had his polyp removed so his voice sounds extremely harsh. i'd prefer to call it pained. you can hear the agony in blakes voice as sings his throat out. there's a depressing theme of desperation and hopelessness that really makes the song so affecting. tim does a good job of making the song his own but as a straight edge punk i don't feel he has the experience to really feel the pain in this song the way blake did. hell tim might have some experience with something like that but the straight edge makes it seem kind of moot. sorry for the long wanky comment
Rise against is a really good cover, and he sings it honestly and heartfelt, but Lucero version is my alltime favorite version, and one of my favorite songs
It gets loneliest at night Down at the liquor store Beneath the neon sky Our moonlight Six a.m. the floor comes alive with lice The pan's dried up so tight With hardened beans We're hungry So I lean on you sometimes Just to see you're still there These feet can't take the weight of one Much less two We hit concrete How were we born into this mess? I know I painted you a prettier picture, baby But we were run out on a rail Fell from the wagon to the night train I kissed the bottle I should've been kissing you You wake up to an empty night With tears for two Cigarettes they fill the gaps In our empty days In our broken teeth Say mister, can you spare a dime? Some change could make a change Could buy some time Some freedom Or an ear to hear my story It's all I've got My fiction beats the hell out of my truth A palm upturned burnt blue Don't call it sunburn You've been shaking on the job Just one drink ahead of your past There's a white light coming up You draw the blinds hoping it'll pass I kissed the bottle I should've been kissin you You wake up to an empty night With tears for two
You guys ever going to put up Laura Jane Grace covering "Train In Vain" by The Clash. I literally stopped my kitchen when that happened and we cranked the volume up.
asdotheternity lol, take a look, this is my comment. you bothered me. God you're dumb! If you can't handle the backlash don't troll people like a moron.
+puke maloney The fact that this moron even knows about Jawbreaker is disconcerting and he should definitely NEVER sing this or any Jawbreaker song ever again.
very bad cover, but i guess it gets points for being different, since its the only one where the singer can sing. even the foo fighters version is better than this jeff buckley bullshit.

You and me both. Take care
We all believe in you, even when you dont! Stay strong!
Hope you’re doing well my man. Take care. Remember this song in the hard times.
Sobriety is over-rated

This song hits very close to home for anyone that's been close to a strongly addicted alcoholic.
Man I love Tim's voice
This is one of the only covers that both captures the soul of the original yet translates well to acoustic. Thanks Tim.
Why is everything Tim sings so great. Every single song sang by him is a fucking masterpiece!
this man nails EVRY single acoustic song he does...voice of the heavens!
I can listen to Tim play anything acoustically any time and be happy
This is incredible. Shows how amazing Blake’s lyrics are and gives me a new respect for Tim’s voice.

Well put man. Well put

Coming home from a nice wedding and listening to this awesome song, cause the songs there were boring. Fell in love with this one again !
Can't stop replaying this..
Love the OG version, and I love Tim's version. The Original is the one you listen to drunk, and Tims cover when you sober up. Just playin.
I prefer Tim's version when I'm drunk, and Lucero's if I sober up. And Jawbreaker all the time.
@@dustinrettig3652 'Nuff said.
Tim needs to make a solo acoustic album.
agreed. he's so good acoustically. Saw him on the revival tour and it was fantastic but he was the only one who didn't have a solo album.
MR Sarbs And maybe a collaboration with Tom Morello
I would love that so much he has so many great acoustic covers of their own work and of other work but none of them done in a studio.
It's happening! Kinda.
nahailyenvanakkor wait huh??!
It gets loneliest at night
Down at the liquor store
Beneath the neon sky
Our moonlight
Six a.m. the floor comes alive with lice
The pan's dried up so tight
With hardened beans
We're hungry
So I lean on you sometimes
Just to see you're still there
These feet can't take the weight of one
Much less two
We hit concrete
How were we born into this mess?
I know I painted you a prettier picture, baby
But we were run out on a rail
Fell from the wagon to the night train
I kissed the bottle
I should've been kissing you
You wake up to an empty night
With tears for two
Cigarettes they fill the gaps
In our empty days
In our broken teeth
Say mister, can you spare a dime?
Some change could make a change
Could buy some time
Some freedom
Or an ear to hear my story
It's all I've got
My fiction beats the hell out of my truth
A palm upturned burnt blue
Don't call it sunburn
You've been shaking on the job
Just one drink ahead of your past
There's a white light coming up
You draw the blinds hoping it'll pass
I kissed the bottle
I should've been kissin you
You wake up to an empty night
With tears for two
This damn song hits hard, sometimes way too hard...powerful. Jawbreaker killed it with this one and this version is just as outstanding!!
GREAT performance of a great song. Tim is awesome
Rise Against covers Jawbreaker. You're welcome.
woll he didn't cover it too well uroun' 2:29... or so...
Its great. My two favorite things. Jawbreaker and tim
You guys ever going to put up Laura Jane Grace covering "Train In Vain" by The Clash. I literally stopped my kitchen when that happened and we cranked the volume up.
Love Jawbreaker awesome cover
Love the song, great version
Killer version. If you’re reading this, check out Lucero’s version. It’s somewhere in the middle between Jawbreakers and this.
I never would have guessed they like Jawbreaker. That's so cool, I love Jets to Brazil as well!
Jericho Edwin Tim's a big Jawbreaker fan. They've covered other songs too.
Darren Marta yup. I actually like this better than their "Tour Song" cover.
Rise Against forever!
whoa that got me in my feelers
Tim McIlrath for President
Better than Trump 100% ^_^
1000% with love from the other side of the world v
wow! so many memories for the gen x'ers - cool cover when the young guys do it
Omg, i love this. Tab please
Amazing cover, but actually I don't know how Tim managed to magically hold the headphones with his hood for the whole song without making them fall
I think the cable did the magic. ;)
Damn, you ruined the suspense for me.
+Juani Filardo He's just that magnetic.
Mexican Wolfboys does a better cover
It's what happens when you feel the song I your soul and don't need to hear yourself playing it
That was pretty awesome
asdotheternity and you're immature? is there a point?
asdotheternity do you have brain damage?
asdotheternity Ok... i did, your'e still a complete dumbass and a terrible troll...
asdotheternity lol, take a look, this is my comment. you bothered me. God you're dumb! If you can't handle the backlash don't troll people like a moron.
asdotheternity ... it's an acoustic piece. Why did you want? a fat beat by dre?
Simply by that hat, I have found a new great musician. Thanks Tim.
this is beautiful. Where can I download it?
Amazing
Awesome
"i dont need no headphones!"
Wow 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Nicely done cover, Tims a great composer, Lucero still has the title for best cover. None can touch Blake, tho. Jawbreaker is such a great band.
I love this cover :3
nailed it
man thats a great mic sick audio
Tim got a new guitar!!
The original is amazing
What tuning is he using.
***** 1/2 step down
Эту песню надо исполнять сольно, на гитаре. Так в ней больше души и правды
I love jawbreakers rawness don't get me wrong but this is very nice
I can use this cover for my video?
This band is awesome. Thats the first statement. But no one can ever make it better than Ben from Lucero. Period.
Classic
Did Tim open his eyes at any point in this video? XD
Lucero says "hold my beer!".
Anyone have chords? Thanks
can anyone figure out the chords to this?
Working on it.
Tabs on my channel.
Been into punk for a long time. This is better than the original for once.
Hine sight yep
Fucking magnificent.
Rise Against should do a cover of "Kiss my Ass". Jawbreaker was cool.
Oh man , I was so into this and suddenly tim missed the lyrics on one of my favourite verses.
Just one drink ahead of your past?
Am I the only one who can't stop hearing "I kissed the butt hole"?
Listen to the original song... it's 300 times worse haha
This is a cover from jawbeñreakwe
Gonna stick with the OG and lucero
this is nice, but takes away to the raw version and doesnt make the same impact.
this is too nice, ruined the original

Nicholas Cage Best SINGER!
Why the hell is it put in black and white..
+Monitorimatti it was recorded before colour existed
Flip your phone over and listen to the music
It is still black and white...
Boozer song
Lucero plays it so much better
100%
this is good still prefer chris shifletts version
Not bad, but I like Ben Nichols from Lucero's cover a little better .
that sounds like it'd be really good. got a link?

jancok jaran 👍
:/
Very generic vocals. Doesn't capture the desperation at all.
Its not nearly as good as the original, but isnt as bad as i thought it would be...
If drunk bands can't cover Filler, straight edge bands shouldn't be allowed to play this
Fucking awful. Stop fucking up a good song and I have disdain for that Lucero shit also.
You are so polite
I agree! this guy's voice is weak! his band is called rise against? that's an angry name for a band with a weak friendly radio sound singer smh
puke maloney "weak" if you're looking for an accoustic full of screams, you should not look for accoustics
+puke maloney The fact that this moron even knows about Jawbreaker is disconcerting and he should definitely NEVER sing this or any Jawbreaker song ever again.
Hahahaha, "weak" voice. You don't know anything about his voice then
very bad cover, but i guess it gets points for being different, since its the only one where the singer can sing. even the foo fighters version is better than this jeff buckley bullshit.
Blaspheme. This is pure GARBAGE.
