@@wild-radio7373 I don't think they have changed, it is just the awareness of what they stand for. This will be a matter of choice for the individual depending on one's own beliefs. I am also caring for elderly right now and started to prep them incase I can't get over there during Winter. I never knew I was a prepper till Covid-19 hit and I didn't lack because I had a modest for a "prepper" but well stocked pantry. I didn't need to increase my shopping or go hunting for TP or other things, I just had it and was able to decrease being out and about. I did however start buying for a little free food pantry in my area. This is something we can all do for those less prepared and running to find things. I drop off so often I have thought about praying over and adding verses to the food so they understand this is only because of God. I have been blessed to meet people waiting for the food and they are truly in need. Some are just lower middle class and do NOT qualify for food stamps. Some are homeless with mental illness and just thankful to sometimes cook for themselves, and MANY are on food stamps but need things food stamps does NOT provide(such as anything that is non-food but needed). It's not hard to pick up things like dish soap, sponges, reusable Diva cups, pads, hand sanitizer, deodorant, and TP. While you can say these people should be prepared I have talked to some and they need friends to teach them to function because these are typically "generational" struggles where they have NO ONE. The pantry is drained every week. Even churches can make these "little free" give something if you have and take something if you need drop boxes(no management needed). The government is not able to help to the level of need right now. My church is doing a high need item food drive this weekend after seeing the need and also started a community garden that we are about to harvest. 2020 is an opportunity to love in the name of Yeshua (Jesus) like never before. God bless and thank you for the prayers. People with skills in canning/drying would be a blessing to these churches that have started gardens.

We must be born again to enter His heavenly kingdom. We must repent ,turn from our sins and be baptised that we may be saved. Jesus is returning soon. The signs are everywhere. As long as we are quoting the Bible, Matthew 6: 25-26 states: ““Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”

For those who have access to an apple press - cider can become a great sweetener. Take juice and boil it down to 1/7th volume and you have apple cider syrup. Strong flavor for some but you can make your own sweetener from your own apples.

I find it best to stock up on the almonds and other nuts I like to make nut milks from and just make the milk fresh that way there is no need for added ingredients, you know exactly what is in it and make it from whatever nuts or seeds you want (or blends), and it is less expensive.

@@RainCountryHomestead There is another way to make almond milk which is basically zero waste and makes it stretch further. I have not seen anyone mention this on TH-cam, but all you need to do is pop off the skins after a long soak (pref. 12 hours, depending on the almonds). Throw out the skins but KEEP the rest and do not use a nutmilk bag: just blend on high and liquefy. I end up adding more water to the results because from the same amount of almonds I used to use (which is 1/4 cup almonds to 3 1/2-4 cups pure water) I end up adding up to 2 cups more water and mix in at the end. I barely ever notice the liquefied fiber, and end up with 2 more cups almond milk for "free"!

Hi Heidi, What a great video!! And I love how you mentioned “food fatigue”. How right you are to stock up on a variety of foods that your family likes. And you really opened my eyes to something...ordering online from Costco! I am embarrassed to say that I never thought of that!! What a great idea. We have about an hour drive to our Costco, so that would be a nice time saver. And I was so happy to see you mention stocking up on noodles. You are so right...they can last a long time! Something that really intrigued me was the powdered milk you store. I am going to investigate that. It looked like a really great quality. My mother always stored powdered milk but it is a habit I have fallen away from. Thank you for the reminder!! As always, another great video!!! Love, Mary❤️😘❤️

My husband is so smart. He figured out a way to make my brake bleeder work with the mason jar sealing tube! I was just holding the tip onto the sealer, but my hands are weak, and when I would rest, shift a bit, or try and switch hands, it would come off and I’d have to start over. He figured out that with the brake bleeder KIT that we got, the attachments that come with it fit perfectly with the Food Saver tube! I don't know how to attach pics so you can see how we did it, but if you get the kit and fiddle with the attachment pieces, you'll figure it out. Now I can rest, switch hands, or whatever, and it still works amazingly well. Hope this helps others!

The food grade buckets with gamma lids are great too. I live next to a canal in the city and rats and other critters can be a problem. I use them for dry goods, oatmeal, pasta, etc.

Mice and rats can eat right through the bucket if they are left long enough! I was shocked!😲☹🙁

Hi Heidi, Another great and very informative video! I just wanted to chime in about fig trees. I am in zone 6 and my fig trees usually bear fruit the first or second year depending on how old they are when I plant them. I guess it would also depend on the variety but I find that fig trees bear fruit much quicker than most other fruit bearing trees. Thanks again. I am making my list and adding all the good things to my Amazon cart!

    Heidi,
I am going to have to go on Costco on line, I have never been to one. I think maybe it is over a hr for us to go to one. Thank you again for another great video on food storage. Thank you so much for giving me more Ideas; as I did not think of some that you talked about. Heidi, we stored noodles in frosting bucket, with those tight lids for 20 years, and no bugs, and still are very good. We have had rice, oats, anything dry in those frosting bucket, that we buy from our bakery. Thank you Heidi, for caring to teach others what they should do.

I like that you go out of your way to include another communities potential needs into consideration and share with them how they can make things work for them too. I also like that you don't make 'apologies' for whatever you store that may not meet the current 'wisdom's idea of what's good for you'. Some people have to buy 'pasteurized' milk! Some can't grow their own stuff! Check out Costco, prices may be what you need! Just the way it is, store this instead... Good vid, will be checking out some of your other ones!

Green beans are a perfect dog food substitute. My dogs have a job and they get good dog food. If that becomes difficult to find, I have canned green beans for them. And canned milk. Extra fat and protein for a big part of my home security system.

U can also freeze noodles, beans, & all seasonings. We live in the south so it's told to us to freeze them at least 2hrs before doing whatever ur plans are for them just incase there maybe bugs in the bags. I do freeze powder and brown sugar until I open the bags then I either put them in quart jars or zip lock gallon bags but label them so I know what they are and date them. ALWAYS remember to label and date.
