    LYRICS
This song is for the rats
Who hurled themselves in to the ocean
When they saw that the explosives in the cargo hold
    Were just about to blow
This song is for the soil
That's toxic clear down to the bedrock
Where no thing of consequence can grow
    Drop your seeds there
    Let them go
    Let them all go
    Let 'em all go
This song is for the people
Who tell their families that they're sorry
For things they can't and won't feel sorry for
And once there was a desk
And now it's in a storage locker somewhere
And this song is for the stick pins and the cottons
I left in the top drawer
    Let 'em all go
    Let 'em all go
I wanna sing one for the cars
That are right now headed silent down the highway
And it's dark and there is nobody driving
And something has got to give
I saw you waiting by the roadside
You didn't know that I was watching
    Now you know
    Let it all go
    Let 'em all go
    Let it all go

Last time I shot dope was summer 2011 and in rehab a guy showed me this band called the mountain goats and said my diatribe from group therapy that morning reminded him of this song. Instantly identified with it and loved it. Cut to now 10 years later I’m cruising down the road with my wife and 3 kids who are all singing these lyrics and it’s got me jammed right the hell up. The feeling of joy and thankfulness is washing over me more intensely than I have ever experienced in my life. So it’s a great song is what I’m saying.

Good job, man. Glad you're here.
It's been about 10 years for me too!
Never shot up though... I figured if the professionals like phlebotomists and nurses regularly had trouble getting a good vein, I had no chance!

So, much great timing here. Between Wurster's drums and Matt's phrasing, damn. I mean, it's a great song but this arrangement is life-giving.

He has a smooth and soothing voice like the late, great Phil Ochs.
