Hi OrangeDoom. I know this is rather off-topic, but I have a question. Why do you use Indicated Airspeed instead of True Airspeed? True Airspeed is adjusted for height and temperature, so air density. This means that you won't think you may stall every time the Angle of Attack gets high at 10 km height, because you're actually still going 500 km/h. (Just an example.) For me, using TAS was the solution for freaking out every time because my airplane wasn't as fast as it said on the stat card, according to IAS.
I miss War Thunder. I haven't played since mid 2016. What's changed? Should I come back or should I stay away? I found myself quickly getting over my head once I got to rank V in the US and UK
splendid! Pls do that bombing tut that I asked for. After I saw this I think I will start to play air forces. I did not till now cuz my skills with planes are zero. I'm not so bad tanker, but with planes...
Go with the 262 50mm with APHE shells. Its freaking wonderful. Killing T29/34 is the easist thing ever through their roof and best part, none can kill you xD
The ending of this game is similar to my air RB battle with the Ho 229 2v1 in Korea being the last one left I decided to destroy the vehicles while destroying most of them I was down to 34 rounds left with on f84 and f80 on me dodging their round as I simultaneously destroy the rest with 2 passes causing their tickets to go down to 100s so close I said to myself and also I said it would be funny if the game gives me the win and at that moment pop I won LMAO it was yesterday
German tank teams may not win all the time. But ive noticed most of the time they'll fight till the end. Ive noticed when the american team loses, they are always stuck in spawn. Rip
Nice video Orange. But I think most people dont have so many planes or dont have such a skill in everything. You are the god of planes you can outmanuveur spitfire mk 24 in fully loaded thunderbolt. So yeah nice lineup but most players cant aim bombs or when I drop bombs I kill someone from my team rather then enemy.
Rockets wouldn't be nerfed to where they would be usless they would be nerfes to realistic levels that require skill something a Elitist won't understand because their broken / glitched meta is being taken away and made realistic... -coming from a DCS player
+Poffertje here are some small quotes from an article about Allied CAS (and your beloved RP-3's): "A trial conducted by the RAF had fired 64 rockets (RP-3's) from 4 Typhoon's(2 flights) at a stationary Panther painted white. A total of 3 hits were recorded giving the rockets a 4.69% accuracy rating in the most perfect of circumstances. Near misses did no damage to the tank. In real combat the Panzers would have some some camouflage, some flak protection(which downed hundreds of Allied fighter-bombers over NW Europe and greatly reduced accuracy of bombs and rockets), and crews that would know to seek cover when they realize they are being shot at. Bombs were even worse in regards to accuracy. It had been concluded that overall it took 800 rockets or 3500 bombs to hit a tank sized target in battle conditions." "Now, regardless that aircraft weaponry was near useless against tanks, the RaF and USAAC both claimed hundreds of panzers. Some documented cases show that these claims are horribly exaggerated. Near La Baleine, France Typhoons conducted 99 sorties on a German Armored Column consisting of ~50 tanks. The pilots claimed to have KO’d 17 of the tanks. The British Army’s No. 2 ORS investigated the area and found that there was a total of 9 tanks, 2 of which were actually destroyed by rockets or just 11% of the original claim. Around Mortain the US and British pilots claimed to have destroyed/probably destroyed a total of 120 tanks. The actual number of destroyed AFVs in the area is close to 45 tanks, only 9 seemed to be victims of airstrikes or 7% of the original claim. At the Falaise Gap the Fighter-Bombers claimed 3x more tanks(391) than the Germans actually lost(133). The number of tanks lost to aircraft seemed to be 15 in the Falaise area or 4% of the original claim. Things didn’t go much better in the Ardennes with air units claiming 66 tanks in an area which under inspection was found that only 1 of 101 tanks were knocked out by air and another 6 likely knocked out by air. As this has shown, these claims about tanks getting decimated by aircraft doesn’t really hold any water." You´re missing the point entirely. IRL, RAF pilots approached targets like this; they flew at at least 2400m altitude and dove on tanks they saw at a 60 degree angle. They then fired a full salvo of RP3s at 1200m alt and broke off. This manner of carrying out an attack was adopted in order to prevent German flak from shooting them down. This is the reason accuracy was so low. They had no mouse aim, 3rd person view and an altitude of 100m when firing a single pair of rockets, like we do in game. They were in a cockpit, trying to spot tanks from 2400m up and trying to set up their aim from above 1200m while barely being able to see the tanks they aimed for, even if painted white and of course all while being shot at by flak. So I suggest go in a Sim match, get up to 2400m, try to spot tanks, dive on them at a 60 degree angle, spam the fire button at 1200m and see if you can reliably get kills. You won´t, and keep in mind IRL it was even more difficult than even that. The rockets themselves were accurate, the way they were used not so much. Accuracy aside, I started off by saying you missed the point entirely: it´s not about accuracy, it´s about what the rockets did when they hit. The RP3 replaced the 25lb AP rocket (which had slightly over 100mm of pen) because the 25lb AP wasn´t deemed capable of dealing with Tiger Is. The RP3 was then tested in 1942 and approved because it was effective. They were in service from 1943 to the late 60´s. They could take out Tiger Is *at least*, as that was the entire purpose for bringing them into service. They *have* taken out Panthers and Pz IVs in the battles you mentioned. IRL, RP3s were highly effective not because they killed tanks, but because tank crews being fired at knew that *if* one of those rockets hit them, they were dead. This followed from RAF prisoner interrogations after the battle of Mortain. At the battle of Mortain, Typhoons with RP3s stopped a column of 50-60 tanks by barraging it with rockets. The German crews were so scared of being hit that they abandoned their tanks and took cover, probably because they knew what happened to other crews that actually did get hit. The aftermath of the battle? 43 tanks left behind by crews, only 7 (your source says 9, mine 7) tanks actually killed by RP3s due to a rare direct hit (not rare at all in WT because we all fly at like 100m alt and have mouse aim and 3rd person visibilty). But the point is... RP3s stopped an entire tank advance of I think it was 5 divisions. Gaijin has modelled them as HE only and completely ignored the AP tip. A direct hit is supposed to do a lot of damage. It´s not for nothing that German crews were scared to death of being shot at (and the interrogation reports show that even the crews themselves knew that most rockets missed), they knew what had happened to their comrades that got hit in the past. The crews that were hit had an extremely low chance of survival. It´s just that... IRL they barely got hit. In WT they frequently do Sources: Typhoon Attack: the Legendary British Fighter in Combat in World War II. Do you think RP3 rockets barely being able to kill a T-34 even though they were used up until the late 60´s by the British is realistic?
All rockets use an old damage model, they don't work how they should. It is not a matter of balance, but a matter of a flawed game mechanic.
