I have this lock and a Litelok X3 I also cover my bike as I have to park it in a residents car park, I have found the cover lifted a couple of times and the bike was not touched , it seems they know in a residential area too much noise will alert the residents so they did not bother and the last time I found a disc they had dropped when they left so the locks do work as they know not to even bother trying.
@@jamiecain7844 From videos i have seen, very similar. Though, the DX1000 has an edge (lasts longer) when it comes to a attack against it with a diamond disk. Hope that helps. -Cheers
I bought the DX1000 for my ebike, but it's still a bitch to get it aroung the frame, or even the rear tire, and get it around a pole, or beefy enough rack that can't be cut itself. I'm debating whether or not to add the Hiplok Mega Chain to the equation, but I'm afraid that might just be another weak point, thus defeating the purpose of all the money I'm spending.
From all i've been able to read and see online, these locks are a fantastic help against thieves, but allow me just a simple question: whats the difference between the DX100 and D1000 models? Just their size? Coould i buy the D1000 for my motorcycle and "be safe" with it? There is a "nice" price difference to consider so...
Nothing in life is 100%... Not even life itself. I have the d1000 lock. While I am at the market, I have the cart return guys look in on my bike, locked to the rack while I am in the store. I give them a small tip sometimes. They look out for me, I'm one of them now.
@PaulPaid That's what I'm thinking. It would be nice if they made a mount specifically for that, with maybe a slotted hex head inside the cap but I digress.
Agreed, but they will then have to lift it into a vehicle as the D lock will still be attached. No one is claiming these locks are bullet proof they just bide you more time and make it more inconvenient for the theives. Nothing is yet full proof but tech is improving and people are innovating 💡 let's hope one day in the near future we can rest easy knowing are bikes are safe from scum with small but forward thinking companies like litelok.
No one is going to sit there and pick the lock. They come armed with bolt cutters and /or battery-powered angle grinders or a large hammer. They'll give it a try, give up, or deem it too time-consuming. Then, hopefully, they'll move on to something easier.
Thanks SO much for the recommendation! All the best, John
Our pleasure!

William, how does this compare to the X3? I have the X1 but I’m looking into getting the DX1000 or the X3?

I bought the D1000. It was to small for my e-bike. The DX1000 is a better fit and that's why I bought and kept it.
Thank you for sharing!
Nice. A bluetooth alarm on it would be the finishing touch👌🏾
Why not chain a Rottweiler to your bike?
@@ilovephotography1254 or weld it to a parking meter?

I think the x just means its bigger

Larger size = a far more practical fit.
Hiplok customer service said to me the only difference is the size
Problem is not only the strength of the lock itself...but thieves cut directly the pipe where you lock your bike and remove the bike and go with it.

That is why i carry my drill and bolt an anchor to the ground everywhere I go.
Would this be mountable in the bed of a truck with some through bolts?
Why not?

Yes but they just cut through the pipe you have attached to !

For sure and it’s easier for the scum to move on and leave yours👌
2 dx1000 one on the back one on the front big chain wrap your back wheel up to something throttlelock and a oxford boss alarm lock should do 👍

I used a concrete cutting saw and just cut a square around the ground anchor. Come out in less the a few minutes.
