THANKS Doc. I purchased my Ben Bulldog 3 yrs ago and had it "upgraded" by a professional airgun smithy who properly modified Benj Bulldogs and also incorporated higher quality equipment for safety. Your information on the 'hold' was enlightening. I knew that there was a difference compared to the springers but not on the heavier duty PCPs. this info may give me tighter groups now that I'm informed and properly compensate. My speeds are probably a little higher but I'm using much heavier pellets and slugs. I have a more kick {{and noise (definitely not back yard friendly)}}. With more kick, it is probably giving me hold sensitivities issues that I had thought were PCP minimized, which now needs to be addressed. Altho' this video was made 3 yrs ago, it is still very relevant,, and possibly even more so, now that equipment keeps improving. THANK YOU for this video.
Thank you for the comment Ankur ...Welcome to our channel ... and I hope we continue to share info that will keep you .... Air Gun Sharp..... Good to hear from you.... Dr. Russ
Good to hear from you @fidelmartinez .... I have a new video being launched early next week that is based upon some new research. It will cover the areas of improving the rifling in your barrels ... plus storing your air guns with the barrel down. This allows lubricants and lead particles to drop out of your barrel rather than back into the air compression chambers... keeping your air gun out of the repair shop... Dr. Russ
Very informative. I may never own one of these, but you added enough info on shooting in general to make it very educational for a bigger like myself. Thanks!
Jay... it was good to hear from you... and glad that you found our video informative. Please know that I am available for any question or concern on air guns that you might have. This was our 18th TH-cam video... and we have some interesting ones planned for this summer. Dr. Russ
I pump up my bulldog from around 1800 or 1900psi to 3000psi with a hand pump. It takes around 115 to 120 strokes. And a total time of 4 to 6 minutes depending on how long I let the pump cool off halfway through. Granted I'm not a small person. But it's not hard to pump by hand.
Joseph Bryan ... it is good to hear from you... and thanks for the tip. I have found that I shoot almost everyday ... and perhaps 500 to 1000 rounds per week.... so using a hand pump just doesn't provide the time I need .... however.,.. I respect those who do... Dr. Russ

Can't go wrong with a bulldog, I love mine. Consider some of the aftermarket mods and parts you can add to it, including drilling out the ports, adding a 4500psi chamber and internal 3000psi regulator, you'll simultaneously increase FPS and shot count. There is also a moderator/suppressor that will let you shoot anywhere you want without bothering anybody (it's not a quiet gun stock).
Thanks for your channel I've been reviewing these rifles but a lot of channels have guys acting and carrying on about their dog or something.I appreciate your style. which one would you say is more sturdy long term?
Yaku achbach ... it is good to hear from you .... Both air guns are good ... but I believe the Crosman Bull Dog is lighter and is my favorite between the two... Dr.Russ
Hi Dr Russ i own the bulldog357 and put lot bell on it an swizzles yes get lot weight on it i put bi pod and laser and good scope next flash light i did put supereon Ronin add some barrel length of 41 inchs but real question really want to ask did you really put big fat whole threw a cast iron pot soon or later i will hit some steel at 100 yards
Blackswordshiobi ... yes those holes were put in a cast iron frying pan with a Benjamin 357 and a Bully 35. The holes did not appear on the first shot at 65 yards (be careful with ricochet back at you) ... but after about 19 rounds, the holes started appearing. Now target steel plates are different and are not made of cast iron... but rather rolled steel ... and holes will not appear on them until they are hit by a 50 caliber powder gun... Dr. Russ
Childofyhvh .... it is good to hear from you again.... and yes I own one and the flashpup is an excellent gun ... particularly in 25 caliber... Dr. Russ

Hi Dr Russ I am seriously thinking about buying the Benjamin bulldog but I have a question before I do what is the difference between the shroud to keep down the noise and the moderator do you have both on your gun or just the moderator and how much does it cost to feel the scuba tank each thanks.

The next two videos will give some knowledge about finding and attracting nuisance critters with an air rifle ... and using traps ... both live traps as well as deadly traps.... Dr. Russ
I know this is an older video, but I just watched it. Great comparison of both of these AG's. I'm much more familiar with the Benjamin than the other brand and now that Benjamin has this model Bullpup in .457 (wish I had one..). I really like your mention of the butt pads on PCP's (or even CO2 power plants) and that padding is not needed. These PCP air rifles are like shooting spit balls though a straw...meaning ZERO recoil for the most part until you possibly get into the much bigger bores like .50's. I agree that the manufacturers want to emulate a powder burner in their aesthetics. Great video!! I keep watching all of your vids when I can. Two thumbs up Doc!!👍👍
It is good to hear from you again G A's .... and you are absolutely correct. I have a Zeus 72 caliber which has a kick ... but I would survive without a butt pad cushion. ... however, Dr. Paula does enjoy hers ... even in 25 caliber. Thanks for writing ... Dr. Russ
Thanks for the compliment Morro MK ... It is good to hear from you ... and I appreciate you sharing one of your experiences.... air pumps are difficult challenges ... especially if you use up a lot of the air in your tube. Consider re-pumping after 5 shorts ... etc... until you find a pattern that allows you to always look forward to shooting your air gun. You have a great one by the way. Again, keep me in your loop of experiences... Dr. Russ
Great video! Very coherent and concise. I was already interested in the bulldog. That’s what I was searching for. Your video helped solidify my opinion. Though both are good air rifles. The bulldog will suite my needs a bit better.
John Brenchick ... I believe that the Bull Dog is my pick as well ... because it comes ready to site in and shoot. The Bully has all of the power adjusted forward to make a statement I believe... and in the end ... it requires time to back the power off to where the gun is accurate.... I usually find that 950 fps is that limit on any caliber... Dr. Russ

great info DOC. I have been attempting to wade thru all the info out there in order to make a big bore purchase that suits me best. I looked seriously at the .457 pile driver and this .357 bulldog. after a while, the info just sort of muddied together and I really couldn't tell what I was looking at with so many manufactures and their hype. this simple, informative presentation made that world crystal clear. I'm am going with the bulldog and its sister airbow. thank you for the crystal clear explanation. you made my decision much easier, less stressful, and looking forward to hrs of enjoyable shooting. you are a rock star among air gunners....lol.
Jeff Pochron ... one of my favorite scopes isnt made any longer ... it had a leveler built right into it... plus all of the other features I look for. Consider going to Field Supply . com and typing in scopes ... then look for two Center Point ( Crosman) refurbished scopes at half their normal prices... one is approximately $ 40 and the other approximately $60. these are not the cheap scopes that they put on low cost rifles. Consider the $60+ scope which has 30 mm tube versus one inch tube ... and an illuminated retical ... both of which help during low light hunting...I have purchased 6 ot 7 of these without a problem.... also consider clicking onto the small circular photo of me to access our channel of more than 50 videos.... watch the one on Buying refurbished air rifles and accessories.. Dr. Russ
Good to hear from you jarsen321.... thanks for the compliment ... next week we have two videos coming out that compare the AEA 50 caliber Challenger with the AEA Zeus 72 caliber.... and while it is obvious that the 72 is a bigger slug... the comparison shows some interesting similarities.... please share your air gun experiences with us ... helping us help everyone stay air gun sharp... @@russjones7981 definitely looking forward to the videos. Education about air weaponry is definitely needed. People get hung up on the next big thing and are ignorant about the capabilities of the tools they are using.
Awesome, this is great instructive content from many different angles, I have the Benjamin bulldog in 357 cal and the Ataman AP16 in 22 cal.. neither gun is backyard noise friendly..lol!
It is good to hear from you Michael Rochelle.... and yes ... without suppressors ... those two can be noisy ... Anticipate getting a suppressor ... or shooting slightly inside your home thru an open window (extra safety precautions required) and you may keep your neighbors from hearing... Dr. Russ
Good to hear from you again Paul Deckard. It only comes in 357 magnum cal... and actually shoots 9mm. or 35 caliber slugs and pellets.... not 357 slugs (which is actually 38 cal.). As you probably already noticed ... the sound is considerable louder than smaller air rifles ... especially the ping sound that you hear with your right ear up next to the stock. Fortunately, others don't hear that ping ... but they might hear the pow when the bullet leaves the barrel. If you don't have to buy a moderator ... don't.... and you will save about $300 and a very long air gun. Paul ... please keep me in your air gun experience loop. Dr.Russ
Ian Foo .... It is good to hear from you ... please share your air gun experiences so that you can help us help everyone stay air gun sharp... Dr. Russ
Thanks for the video, going to get my Bulldog out today and do some shooting with it. Mine out of the box pushed the pellet at 860 fps and yes its loud.
Rick... always good to hear from you... our next video will be a comparison of the Armada and the Hatson Bull Boss.... both 25 cal. and both close to the same cost... (something that many airgun comparison videos ignore) ...always good to hear from you Rick... Dr. Russ
Incredibly detailed and very grateful for the education that I have received I currently own a Benjamin bulldog but I have been sceptical about the bully and I think that you have encouraged me to buy it. Thanks for the informative video. I have the Hatsan Hercules Bully .45 caliber. I see that you're using .356 caliber rounds for your .357 caliber bully. How many diameters will fire properly for the Bully? .357, .356, .355? FYI, I just thought about cast bullets for reloads last night and saw your video today and see all the cast bullets I was considering last night, so your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
verZatile it is good to hear from you... and I know you love your Bully like I love mine. Last year, it was difficult getting a lot of the ammo that use to be available due to Covid. My favorite was 35 or 9 mm.... but when it wasnt available, I experimented with several other sizes that never seemed as good as the 35 or 9 mm. So today, I am back to JSB 35 caliber... and happy with them ... easily killing woodchucks at 85 yards. Please keep us in your loop ... Dr. Russ
SQ ... good to hear from you... and the answer to your question is a definite YES. Please keep us on your air gun experiences info loop ... helping us help everyone remain air gun sharp... Dr. Russ
Great information. Do you know where I can get the arrows to fit the Benjamin Bulldog? Also I just bought a Benjamin armada .25 and was wonder what it am able to hunt with it? Thank you
Good to hear from you Dennis Rounsaville. I don't believe arrows can be shot from any air gun that is made to shoot pellets. I believe they are only available in air guns made for that purpose. I also believe that they come with up to 3 arrows ... and that more can be ordered off of eBay and or the source where you purchased that special made arrow air gun. Your Benjamin Armada was made to hunt small and medium size critters ... up to and including a coyote. I know of a few who have successfully shot deer with a 25 caliber air gun... but I believe many more are wounded than harvested. Check with your own state hunting laws about what and when you can hunt with an air gun. It is interesting to know that in every case I have checked ... that they are limited to powder rifle rules and not bow and arrow rules. Please keep me in your loop of air gun experiences ... Dr. Russ
Not to Correct Dr. Russ, as I am truly grateful for this video, but if you search Airgundepot for .357 Air bolts you will find the arrows you're looking for. I've seen them used in the Bulldog, but I do not know if you can use them in the Hatsan Bully. (Personally I stick to my bows and crossbows when it comes to arrows.)
Dr. Ross, Question about the moderator on the Hatsan. Is it the DonnyFL shroud adapter and what size moderator size is it for? Is it? I see you answered my question in a comment below. So the normal adapter on Donny's website for the Hatsan shroud will / has a hole big enough for a .357 cal? Same with the moderator? Is the thread pitch still 1/2-20?
Cliff Backler .... good to hear from you. DonnyFL has 3 or 4 size moderators. The one in this video is the Emporer... and is the largest. They still come for specific calibers ... so that the pellet will pass successfully through the moderator. The big concern is getting the correct shroud adapter to fit the rifle ... and to also fit the moderator. You really need to communicate those requirements with DonnyFL ... who will then mail you the correct adapter and moderator for your rifle. Please keep me in your loop of experiences with air guns. Dr. Russ
@@russelljones4132 thanks! I'm thinking about getting a .30cal, but the .357 sounds interesting? I was thinking the Hatsan Hercules rifle (double bottle), refurb (way cheaper). I have numerous pcp's, but not anything bigger then a .25cal. Would love something with more power. Maybe even try slugs out of it for longer range knock down power. Thanks for your video!
@@cliffb.2416 Cliff B... I just launched a TH-cam Video on buying the right caliber air gun for you.... if you haven't purchased your next air gun yet... you might want to watch it... Dr. Russ
David B.... it is good to hear from you .... I haven't found it necessary... usually upgrading air power is at the expense of accuracy... However, please share your air gun experiences with us ... helping keep everyone air gun sharp. Dr. Russ
David B ... In the future ... I might increase power after I check velocity and energy with some heavier slugs.... than the Heavy JSB 35 cal. pellets I am using....Dr. Russ
I also noticed that you have a bunch of magazines ready to continue shooting the Bully, I’m stuck with the choice of which to purchase, bully or bulldog, I want the immense power, loudness, and accuracy with many shots per fill for I’d use a hand pump, I’m very strong so I don’t mind pumping, so which should I get , question is which is stronger fpe
Thanks for sending me a note Gustavo. I trust you and your family will enjoy a great Christmas this week. The Bully arrives set at maximum air power ... but not maximum air power and accurate too. You will need to get it down to 850 up to 950 feet per second before you see your pellets become accurate. This will take some time .... taking your rifle apart several times and screwing down the power key substantially... The Benjamin will likely arrive and be accurate. Using a hand pump ... you will want to pump the air back from 2100 lbs to 2600 lbs. The Bully has a larger tank so it will take a little longer. Both will require moderators if you need them to be "back yard friendly." Otherwise ... you will be happy with both. Therefore, I recommend that you order the one that looks the best to you. Please write again with your air rifle experiences. Dr. Russ
So I've been looking into the Benjamin bulldog for some time now and really want to know if it would be effective on coyotes at around 100 yards I have a Shin sung 9mm and I'm just not sure with the power never took it out but want to but don't want to just wound a animal that is intended to be food or a nuisance animal and where did you pick it up and how much really looking for a deal on the Benjamin bulldog

I believe mine will kill a coyote at 100 yards ... as long as it was a head shot .... practice until you believe you can hit that 4 inch circle yourself.... otherwise ... wait until the coyote comes in closer.... Consider clicking onto the small circular photo of myself and accessing our entire library of 40 videos.... and then consider watching the one on Accuracy as well as another two on Pellets .... I was wondering if you de- cock the trigger with the mag in place and a pellet in the chamber, will it double feed another pellet if the mag is installed when the gun is recocked? Does the mag need to be removed after it has been de- cocked, and shoot it and then the mag can be reinstalled for normal use? Thank you very much for the video, great job!!👍😎👍
Maker of many things ... it is good to hear from you again. I don't know of any way to de-cock a rifle with the mag in the rifle ... without the possibility of loading a first or second pellet into the barrel. In de cocking... your lever or bolt has to go all the way forward and that is likely loading another round into the rifle. Please keep us in your loop of experiences.... Dr. Russ
@@makerofmanythings8447 That Bully in 45 caliber is a gun I just ordered ... so no experience yet... Please share any experiences that you have had... Dr. Russ
@@russjones6497 ... the Hatsan Bully 45 caliber is designed for 45.4 + ammo with a barrel that is 45.7 in diameter. Some slugs are only 45.2 and they can easily fall out of the cylinder .... as will round ball bearings .... so I believe you need 45.4 up to 45.7 ammo... You also have to know slug length and not exceed the width of the magazine cylinder ... or you wont get it into the breach...so we need to be careful and measure any 45 caliber ammo other than Hatsan 45 caliber pellets. Dr. Russ
I've tried a lot to remove with a very big pilers and everything that I have at home but nothing to do...do you remove that easy? Any suggest? Thanks, Frank
Just found your channel. I dont know anything about air guns but i want one for hunting small game and deer if possable. I like the bull pup. Havnt purchased one yet. Thank you for the info.
If you still have the bulldog. I highly recommend the huma air regulator. It keeps the pressure constantly at the sweet spot. And you can still fill it at ful pressure

Lil Holy ... good to hear from you .... I have two Bully's ...in 25 and 35 calibers... but not 30 caliber so I cant answer your question ...other than to say that even with the 35 caliber ... wounding a pig and killing a pig are two different goals. At 110 yards ... or any other distance for that matter ... I believe a head shot is the only sure way to kill a pig. Stay away from his front chest because that is hard suet that protects his heart and organs. Secondly, the Bully comes with a 500cc bottle and tremendous power ... too much actually... and the gun has to be tuned down considerably for accurate shots. Yes they are cheaper ... and each rifle barrel has to be tested with a variety of pellets to determine their accuracy in that barrel... it isnt just the barrel differences ... but there are differences between lots of pellets ... much like there is slight differences between lots of paint. While I am sure all 35 cal and 357 caliber work in these two rifles... you will have to personally test with different pellets. It was only a matter of time before different pellet makers would prove that pellets similar to Noslers could cost a lot less.... Dr. Russ
Dr. Ross my little range in my backyard in Phoenix is 28 yards, so if my neighbors are out in their patio they would be about 45 yards away. Both are laid back people, but I dont want to overstep and be obnoxious, would you consider the Hatsan Bully backyard friendly for very ocasional couple of shots? Seeing that my backyard is not like your air gun heaven of a property 😄 It would only be a couple of shots here and there but that's it. It would be equiped with a DonnyFL Emperor moderator and I am thinking either the 35 or the 45. It is hard to tell over the phone speaker just how loud it is moderated.
KG for your size back yard.... I would drop down to 25 caliber.... keep in mind that I have 3 of these bully's .... in 25... 35 .... and 45 calibers.... and you have to downsize the power as well as the size pellet or slug you are shooting so that you achieve a 775 to 950 fps velocity.... don't worry about that 25 caliber... with good placement it can still kill wild hogs, coyotes and woodchucks..... Take a Sam's or Costco pie over to them ... thanking them for not complaining about your air gun.... and let them know if there are any destructive critters or rabid animals in the area.... to let you know... Dr. Russ
Joel Cantrell ... it is good to hear from you ... Not sure what you mean when you say "flat based pellets"..... if you are referring to flat nose pellets ... then I havent used them in the Bull Dog.... Flat Nosed Pellets would be used for competition using circular targets because they make a perfect round hole in paper versus tears found using other types of pellets. I am not sure I have even seen flat nose pellets for 357 since most competitions use 177 caliber. I hope I answered your question. Dr. Russ
Florida Man.... I am glad to hear from you .. 1st of all I believe the Bully has a choked barrel ... and while that adds to the accuracy of a barrel for pellets ... it usually rules out slugs... I believe slugs wear out tight choked barrels ... and sometimes get stuck in them ... so until we get a clarification that it is slug friendly... I would steer clear of slugs... Home protection typically Usually takes place at short distances and I would want a heavy pellet... probably JSB Heavy Kings... ... Which are also very good for longer range hunting pellets...Dr. Russ
Hey Dr.Russ I was wondering if you ever purchased a 45 cal Hatson bully and if so do you happen to know where I can get some breach seals and barrel seals at. Hatson is very difficult to get ahold of. You were the FIRST person that came to mind due to your experience/ knowledge and a huge air gun collection. It is good to hear from you again Kurt ... the Benjamin Bulldog is in a design category all by itself ... if you took off the outer plastic panels... it looks just like all the other air rifles. Now Crosman has used this same exterior for a 457 caliber... Dr. Russ
Air Power... it is great to hear from you. Both of these 357 calibers (really 35 calibers) certainly have the power to shoot slugs. While the key is to purchase the heaviest pellets possible for this caliber ... the reverse is true with slugs. I have better accuracy shooting the lightest slugs possible. I believe there is a sweet spot in there for these two air rifles. The round ball bearings in 35 caliber are not as accurate ... so stick with the first two. Do not buy 357 magnum slugs at a gun show... they are too large and can get stuck in the barrel which requires a rod to push them back down to the chamber. Only purchase 35 caliber slugs. Please keep me in your loop of air gun experiences... Dr. Russ

Hey Dr. Russ!!! I decided to take your advice and reconsider the Benjamin Bulldog .457 vs. the Benjamin .357. So I'm watching and rewatching your video. What would you consider to be the maximum effective range for the .357 Bulldog vs. the .457 Bulldog? Thanks again for the excellent video. Stay Safe, Be Well, God Bless.
Ken Fan ... good to hear from you ... I don't have a 457 Bull Dog even though I have 45 caliber in two other air rifles.... and I still prefer the 357.... because it is my believe that the same compression chamber and air pressure remains the same... so with that info... along with the fact that the larger caliber minimizes the shots per fill to only 4 - 8 ... so you spend more time filling ... the suppressor is larger and more expensive to quiet it down ... the cost for slugs is more .... you shoot it less .... and the range is about the same.... 80 to 110 yards... Some of the pellets you showed at the beginning looked a lot like cast bullets for black powder cartridge guns. Do you cast any of your own pellets? If so, what has your experience been with them? How available and how expensive are the commercially made pellets? My experience with commercially cast bullets for black powder is that they can be, well, pricey. Well-made video on an interesting subject. Thank you!
Mike... thanks for your note... this was our 18th youtube video... and we were a bit nervous because it was also our longest... 33 minutes... the rest ranged from 8 to 21 minutes... so far it has attracted 140 viewers from around the world in less than 20 hours... To answer your question about pellet/cast bullet costs... pellets in the smaller calibers are cheap.. 177 caliber being just a few cents each... 357 pellets an be 20 cents each... 357 ball bearings as much as 82 cents each.... and I have found the cast bullets at gun shows.. not for black powder... but for reloaders of powder bullets... and I have found bargains at 30 cents up to 45 cents when you buy several hundred at a time. Copper jacked bullets are even more expensive... but not recommended for air rifles because their barrels are not as strong and durable as a powder gun. I hope this helps you... consider subscribing so that your knowledge of this growing sport continues to keep you informed. Write anytime... Dr. Russ
None at all Motorgearhead.... Not on any of my air guns with moderators ... Moderators have a hole thru them that is slightly larger than the caliber of the pellet that they were made for. In fact, I have read that on rare occassions, a moderator is flawed and one of the internal components does get in the way... which is quickly determined and must be taken apart and trimmed ... Glad you asked your question, and I hope we hear from you again. Dr. Russ
@@russelljones4132 thank you for the reply! I was thinking the same because I can find them a little cheaper. But what do you think of any of the AEA rifles ? I like that they are semi auto but I hear they have loads of complaints. Liked your video on these guns. Good and to the point informative info to anyone who may be considering a future purchase. Do you have a preferred dealer for your airgun rifles and supplies? I currently have a .25 cal. Benjamin, but I'm considering upgrading to a .357 to hunt larger game. Keep up the great videos!
good to hear from you Gulfrep61.... keep in mind that everyone's backyard is different ... and with different neighbors. I am fortunate to be able to use 25 caliber in mine ... which allows me to shoot year round at targets and critters. When you upgrade to higher calibers you run into several problems ... for example ... 357 might not be backyard friendly any more... even with a moderator...second you can only use big bore air guns in the fall during a few weeks of hunting season.... and lastly, your state may not have hunting laws that allow air guns yet ... so check all of those. Aside from this long answer... I recommend the Benjamin Bull Dog is you are not well versed in making power adjustments on air guns .... The bulldog arrives ready to go with a magazine that hold 5 pellets.... the Bully requires numerous adjustments on power and trigger to obtain maximum accuracy at around 950 fps velocity. Jess... thanks for writing. Both would be great in the field ... the Bully weighing a pound or two more with scope etc.... might be a distraction over time. If you need a moderator, the Bully will be longer too. That Bully would also require several days of de-tuning to achieve accuracy... at least mine did. Of course, if you decide on a caliber different from 357 magnum... you will have to pick the Bully. It will also provide 50% more shots once filled with air. I just ordered some Hatsan .45 cal pellets I'll see if I can get a snugger fit out of those. Thanks for another good video ✊🇺🇲
Yes Freedom Channel .... the slide is stiff for about 100 rounds ... It should work out to something easier ... or it needs some sanding or grinding to allow it to move easier. @@freedomchannel3656 It is my believe that there are several different 45 caliber air guns ... and the same bullet or slug will not work well in the others... The Hatsan Bully is designed for 45.5 diameter ammo ... while others are 45.2 ammo ... and yet others that are even larger... Round balls do not do well in any air gun that uses an open cylinder like Hatsan 45 does... since they are ready to roll out whenever possible... Dr. Russ

Dr. Russ, I absolutely love your posts..! Very informative and knowledgeable. I ran across your review of another weapon that I am considering (the Blitz Full Auto), and was so impressed with your review of it, I decided to subscribe - and happy I did. I considered these very weapons when first looking for a big bore PCP rifle. I am ex-military (US MARINE CORPS), which had me leaning more toward the Hercules Bully's "post-apocalyptic infantry armament" style (if there is such a thing, LoL) - but I ultimately purchased the Benny Bulldog for a very valuable feature that set it apart from anything else on the market at the time: It shoots the Bolt Arrows as well! ...and quite impressively I might add - It's no novelty act - It's powerful and very accurate, and excellent for hunting with a variety of different arrow heads available to add to the mix. Anyway, Keep up the great work, and I will be eagerly looking forward to whatever else you put up!

John ... our next rifle comparison is about a month away comparing two 25 caliber rifles ... the Umarex Gauntlet and Air Venturi's Adventure. I feel the best service I can provide is to find and share any differences... and let each viewer place their own values on those differences. Accuracy is always at the top of my list ... and these two rifles were very... very close in that department. In fact, if I spent the time tuning the Bully down another hair ... it may have beat the Bull Dog. Good to hear from you .... Dr. Russ
rpb ... different weights will shoot different distances and different accuracies. It turns out that they are not all 357 caliber exactly.... and therefore may or may not gain a tight fit with your barrel. So try several .... start with heavier pellets or slugs and working down. I also recommend that you start with JSB's made in Checoslavakia... More expensive pellets are more consistent in sizes ... with a slight lube on them to make a good tight fit...allowing for more accuracy ... which at the end of the day ... is what all shooting is about. Dr. Russ

Dr.

@@russelljones4132 Thanks the Benjamin armada is a great pellet gun and my son says it is not loud so he can watch me shoot it.
Dr. Ross,
Question about the moderator on the Hatsan.
Dr. Russ

David B.... it is good to hear from you .... I haven't found it necessary... usually upgrading air power is at the expense of accuracy...
Dr. Russ

Dr. Russ

The bully in .30 cal? For pig hunting and small game out to 110 yards plus and how many fpe does the bully make?
Lil Holy ... good to hear from you .... I have two Bully's ...in 25 and 35 calibers... but not 30 caliber so I cant answer your question ...other than to say that even with the 35 caliber ... wounding a pig and killing a pig are two different goals. At 110 yards ... or any other distance for that matter ... I believe a head shot is the only sure way to kill a pig. Stay away from his front chest because that is hard suet that protects his heart and organs. what ammo works with the bully air venturi? 127 grain and do they work also in the bulldog? cuz they are cheaper then noslers
Dr. Russ
Just ordered the Hatsan Bully .357. What is the best ammo for home protection? Thanks.
Russ

what slugs fit in the magazine I'm trying buy some but need to know which ones
Please keep me in your loop of air gun experiences ... would love to hear from you again. Dr. Russ
@@russelljones4132 ok thanks...but for unscrew the end cap of bully what instrument do you use? Is a little hard to unscrew.
Frank
@@mononucleosi2009 Francisco ... please share any more info on installing a moderator onto your Bully... Were you able to get the end cap off? I use channel locks with black election tape in the jaws to prevent scratching off the gun blue... Dr. Russ
Donny FL the manufacture makes many adaptors for most brands . I have one for my Gladious and one for my AT 44 QE long ...........Unscrew the end cap and screw the adaptor on.....Simple...
@@joedokes8641 Yes Joe... it is just that simple ... in fact ... owning just one suppressor ... and yet several adaptors can allow you to enjoy suppressors among several of your air guns ... regardless of whether you are target practicing or hunting... Dr. Russ
I have the Bully in .45 and prefer the side lever action positioned more over the trigger area for follow up shots to the rearward/shoulder area that many bull pups have.
Cheap ... I like the side lever above the trigger too ... and should have included that in my video.... Another video in 2021 will allow that ..... Thanks for your input. Dr. Russ
How many feet per second does the billy push the largest round you had first shown?
702 fps Lawrence .... good to hear from you.... Dr. Russ
1:00 so truee bro, that's me I'm the dude that sprints for two miles looking for squirrels , no joke
Good to hear from you Ronaldo Zevach .... those squirrels maybe hiding on the other side of a tree while you sprint past.... thanks for sharing... Dr. Russ
Which one would be good for hunting once a week which is more reliable?in your opinion
Jess... thanks for writing. The key is you determining which features mean the most to you. Both rifles are great ... and I would be hard pressed to sell one over the other. Dr. Russ
Very impressive work comparing these two .357 rifles. Thank you!!! What of scope rings did you use for your bulldog? Did you use a riser mount?
Damian Baptiste ... sorry I am just now answering your question.... I was reviewing our comments and found yours unanswered... my appology. Anytime you are using a scope whose front lens is 40 mm or 50 mm ... you are going to need high rings that lift that scope up high... DR Russ

Thanks Mr. Ryan. We have a son named Ryan ... another named Nathan and 4 daughters. We are trying to plan a hunt or two this fall that would require filming elsewhere .... but in the mean time .... I too believe our home provides a great shooting place. Please write again. Dr. Russ
I just received my hatsan on .45 bully My slide when I cock the gun seems really stiff and I got to really pull back on it to cock it is yours like that?
Also I have some Seneca .45 caliber slugs but when I put them in the cylinder/clip they move around in and out and it causes jamming issues because if the slug protrudes out too far of the front of the clip when you go to cock it the lead catches ..
Your pellets cannot be too long ... or they must be loaded one at a time to get them in. That 45 cal has some real knock down power. Keep me in your loop about your progress ... Dr. Russ
@@russelljones4132 I appreciate the reply and I'll keep you posted I'm probably going to do a video with it myself in a very near future I plan to buy a raw turkey and see what several different calibers does to the flesh and bone.
Dr. Russ
Thank you !!
Wade ... good to hear from you ... please write anytime ... we have some great videos coming up in July and August and some great hunt videos coming up this Fall .... Dr. Russ
Dr. Russ,
I absolutely love your posts..!
Miquael Miquael... good to hear from you .... and yes youi have a very efficient air rifle that should provide years of enjoyment and even critter control ... maybe even a deer or two.... please keep us in your air gun experience loop ... helping us help everyone stay air gun sharp... Dr. Russ
Why won’t the bully shoot the air bolts? Don’t they just stick into the end of the barrel?
I'm sorry, I noticed you Favored the Benjy. I Do like the longer barrel aspect. And the much longer guaranty. ( i've had glaring QC issues with Benji / Crossman 6 yrs back btw . But I just gotta have that side lever near my trigger. That just seems to carry a lot of weight with me in my purchase. Thank You so much for the comparison and little nuances that a lot of other vids just won't cover. Keep um commin.
John ... our next rifle comparison is about a month away comparing two 25 caliber rifles ... the Umarex Gauntlet and Air Venturi's Adventure. Dr. Russ
What weight bullet do you use for deer hunting with the bulldog? Thanks great video.
rpb ... different weights will shoot different distances and different accuracies. Dr. Russ
