  • “My previous experience going into hospital was that you would get better. But then suddenly I wasn’t going to get better. That was really difficult”.
In 2020, Phillipa Wright sustained a life changing spinal cord injury during a horrific fall whilst doing her favourite hobby, horse riding. The fall left her with no sensation from the neck down.
Soon after her injury, Phillipa had the opportunity to meet David, one of SIA's support coordinators with lived experience of spinal cord injury. David was able to offer important advice and signpost to an array of services through SIA's network of support.
Today, Phillipa is determined to move forward and has begun the process of becoming an SIA volunteer. Peer support through SIA's community groups have been a great help to Phillipa and she hopes she can now use her experience to help others.
