Welcome to English in a Minute!  
 A cliff is a very high and steep rock. So, is a cliffhanger someone who likes to hang from cliffs?  
D: So, Anna, have you watched the last episode of The Embassy yet?  
A: I finally did! The mystery! The shock! That explosion! It was a real cliffhanger! 
D: I know, I have so many questions. There better be a second season soon.  
A: Yeah, like tomorrow!  
A “cliffhanger” is a part of a book, movie or show that leaves readers or viewers in suspense. These days, cliffhangers are especially common on TV shows. They are what keep people watching episode after episode after episode.
