Is really a key fob with push start really a better way to go? Those key fob that start the engine require programming and can cost $150-300. And if something goes wrong with a push start it can cost $1500 to fix the issue. I think I rather but the Frontier just because it has just a normal key, less technical, and thus not as much that can go wrong with it
I own a sentra SL that has a pretty good keyless start. Not a button but a dial on steering column that you turn (like a key) but without the key. The good thing about that is when the battery dies in the fob, you can pull out a real key that is inside the fob and put it into the turn/dial and start like a normal car. So in short, it can be both keyless and key started. Its a brilliant idea and IMO should be universally adopted.

Truck is basically a Nissan time capsule. Very dated. That said, its still a pretty good truck. Friend of mine has a 2008, and we used it to tow his rally car (fully caged Celica GT4) from Phoenix to Seattle. We used a crappy U-Haul car trailer, which isnt exactly light, and the car, despite being gutted, is just over 2,800 pounds, and in the back of the truck we had two spare engines, two spare transmissions, a few fenders, some seats, and a couple easy up tents. We were LOADED! And because of that, we had some serious concerns about tackling the passes and the performance of truck going up (power), and coming down (brakes). Surprisingly, it did it without even struggling. The brakes never showed any sign of fade, and the engine never got hot, never seemed to rev to a point of stress, an handled it all with relative ease. About the only real issue we had on the trip, was that we were riding like a boat, and were constantly getting flashed by semi trucks who thought we had high beams on.
Its a good truck, its just really old. It is in desperate need of a face lift, and some modernizing in the interior. But for being a truck, its pretty damn good. And because its been the same design for the last 10 years, they hold their value pretty well too. I probably wouldnt buy one new. But you could certainly do a lot worse than this in the used market.
Key fobs and push button start makes it very easy to be stolen as the fob is always send a signal to the ignition system making anyone with a scanner can pick up the code and come back later, transmit the code open the door push the start button and drive off. Don’t believe me check it out, personally I’m not to lazy to insert a key and turn it.

Anyone have Pros/Cons on this truck? Getting my second vehicle, first one in my name soon and was looking at this year and model. Specs seem pretty good just don’t know much about the frontiers.
@Nicholus Baker So I ended up getting a 2017 Frontier with low mileage back in January, and it has been a really solid truck for me. Pros and cons are just like you said but I’ve loved this truck and for midsize I would probably get one agin just the 2020 with the 9 speed so I can get better MPG.

I agree. Waaaaay past it's prime. But, it still is a decent truck.
Nissan's had 10 years to work out all the bugs/issues and parts will be available for it for a long time from now. Probably the best pick for a cheap reliable worktruck

Nevermind Ford which has kept the same basic overall design and chassis for the last 17 years.
Chevy did it too with the GMT400- 10 years. GMT800 had a 8 year run.
I would expect Nissan is going to bring something new fairly soon as the midsize pickup market is getting hot again, esp with the GM twins and the soon to come Ranger. Nissan spent a whole bunch of cash on the new Titan recently so they want to push that first. Their cash cows are the QX80 and the Altima.

James P the Frontier’s body hasn’t been changed in over a decade yet it’s still popular and made today. It’s a 2016, you can tell from the interior stock components such as the screen system. People love the old style and simplicity. Compare this to the tacoma and you can be saving thousands. It’s an economy mid sized truck.
