No secret to how they win. Set the cars up mega tight to drive straight around the bottom of the track for the last half of the race and rely on skill to not kill the car in the first half of the race.

I've always wondered if people spray a sticky chemical compound onto the tires or track while racing? Hiding a canister somewhere that will spray onto the tires / track that will make a track take rubber like a PJ1 compound? I'd hope not

Of course they do. They push a button and a spray boom lowers down on both sides to spray a sticky line the width of the car. Just like agricultural crop dusting or a spray coup.
Then ......... they push a button and the boom raises back up before anybody notices.
