Hi Steve This is just a brief follow up to my previous post. I had a spare hour or two today and during a tidy up I came across some old training diaries that had some interesting info. I noticed while flicking through that my Vet 40 60m times where approx 7.8 seconds very similar to yours. Off those 60’s I was running 55-56 for 400 and 25.5 for 200. At Vet 45 my 60’s had dropped to around 7 seconds. Off those times I ran 53.8 and 24.7 in league meetings (still my p.b’s). lol. 😂 It all went downhill between 47-50 mainly due to injuries. Based on the above I reckon in the summer you could be good for a 58 second 400. Of course depending on staying healthy and maintaining the good level of work you are currently achieving which is very impressive. The interesting bit I did a very unscientific age grade comparison and my time at 45 and your projected time at 60 both aged graded about the same around 90% give or take a bit. P.S I do tend to go on a bit but I will always try to be constructive in my observations. If at any time you think my posts are too long and are boring you please feel free to tell me to shut up. I won’t be offended 😂 You’re doing amazing and well on track for a great summer. Steve🙏
I value your input - if you get annoying I'll let you know! 🙂 Interesting info - this does feel like sub-60 is some months away, but I'm fine with that.
Amazing session FOR THE 300'S. Maybe back off next week and let you sprint power build back up after this session. Consistently under 60 sec pace for you looking good.
(I used to be an 800 runner, with an occassional 400. 1:58,3 and 52,7) I think that a 44,6 on its own predicts a sub60". It was not all out, On raceday you will be more rested. I wander what a second 300 is good for. You don't need good legs after your race!
Steve I thought your pacing was excellent considering it was your first run through of this session. In my opinion for you it’s just about fine tuning and staying healthy. Also as you do the session more you’ll find the time for the 2nd 300 reduce. Wednesday should be interesting good plan as race prep. I’m just off to do some hills before the snow comes later today. 🥶
IMO as a master it's more important to get a quality rep than reducing recovery. Especially for the 400m. Just something I've learned from experience but that's just me personally.
@@shanegill5091 My opinion on this is simple. We have all come to masters athletics from different places. Some as vet 40 some as vet 50 some as vet 60. We’ve all probably come from others sports and we all have different personal circumstances that dictate the amount of time we can fit into our daily/weekly schedules. Also I think we all have an idea of what our bodies can handle and what level of training we can handle. Personally at 63 I can manage 3 running sessions a week but only one on the track. Hills and grass running make up the other runs. At 40-50 I could easily handle 3 track sessions a week but those days are long gone. My one track session is quality. I think we probably all have goals and how we achieve them will be a very personal thing. Consistency and staying healthy are the main focus for me. Might even get a few low key races in come summer. Good luck all 🙏
If you want ro be deisel, you need to train more like an 800 guy offseason. Bol does the higher volume and would smash an 800. In season lean more towards 200/400, though a solid 600 should be in there early. I don't know the quality of your competition, but i could rely on 5-7 seconds in the 800 over time trials if i was in a solid heat with youngsters around me. Big masters meets tended to be more tactical.

Going well Steve, looked like that was a great session at the end.
Thanks Gary - went well, but was tough. Going in the right direction.

Hi Steve, how long did it take for your Hover X1 pro to be delivered?
@@garyd2448 I ordered Oct 23rd and it arrived 4th Nov. Sat in Dubai for 3 days for some reason
