AWARD for Huayruro in Cities on Volcanoes CoV9

Geophysical investigations in the region of South Peru, COV9 in Chile, first scientific film festival, November 2016.
After AD 1600 eruption of Huaynaputina volcano, more than 20 villages were sepulted under pumice and ash deposits in the Moquegua area, 70 kilometers from Arequipa. This eruption was the largest registered this last 1500 years in Latin America that although had a world impact. The discover of archeological structures and objects lead to create a large project to highlight the sites and to raise awareness about volcanic hazards. The project extends to education in many schools, universities and instituts and through media. Huayruro project has been received as regional project for general development for all South of Peru.
