Changing classic movies to conform to modernistic ideologies is dumb because it is like trying to gloss over history to a point where history is unrecognizable. Not all past history is great but you have to still acknowledge that *it exists* regardless of how modern audiences look back on it now. The constant exposure to toxic fumes and lack of oxygen in the mines will do that to you over a lifetime when you start working as a minor. There also was a generall need to be compact because medieval mines were not especially grand in design nor execution. Thats why the hats of the miners were so long and stood up as they were filled with straw to protect the head against falling rocks. At least as well as was feasible back then.

It was a huge risk taken by Walt that his own brother & investors were totally against as they thought an animated movie would never ever make money. So Walt funded this film himself and the pay off was not only huge, but it created a whole new mega popula genre of film. Walt Disney was a creative visionary that took risks in the name of *NEW IDEAS, IMAGINATION, PROMOTING GOOD MORALS, THE POWER OF LOVE AND FAMILY VALUES*

Dinklage's criticism of the dwarves aspect really makes you wonder if he's ever actually even seen the movie. Honestly, the dwarves are some of the noblest characters in all of Disney: they are horrified to find that Snow White is in grave danger, rush back to try to save her, risk their lives to pursue Queen Grimhilde after she's poisoned Snow, keep her protected after her sleeping death, and celebrate joyfully when she finally has her prince, doing all of this without any real promise of romantic love or other similar benefits. She showed them love and care and they do all they can to repay it and protect her. Meanwhile, Dinklage just sees little people and thinks mockery

Don’t get me wrong, there are black people that don’t share my sentiment. These people believe that the movie studios actually care about us😂😂😂…… No! All they care about is trying to make more money…… if they Disney really cared about us, they would make original content based on our stories. But it seems that the only black stories they know are slave stories and that doesn’t fit Disney’s happy agenda. So they slop us into recycled European stories. But, if they were a little less racist they would find that there are literally hundreds of happy black or African stories that everyone can relate to. "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" is deeply rooted in German folklore, having been popularized by the Brothers Grimm in the 19th century. This story, known in its original German as "Schneewittchen," is a treasure from the rich tapestry of European folk traditions. Stripping it of its origins and heritage would be akin to removing the essence of its cultural context. The characters, settings, and motifs are intrinsically European, reflecting the environment, values, and beliefs of the time and place from which they emerged. To reimagine them outside of this context would not only dilute the story's historical and cultural significance but also fail to honor the authenticity of the narrative that has captivated audiences for centuries.

I am European, and I studied anthropology. In anthropology, we take fairy tales very seriously because they are remnants of old myths and religions from specific cultures. Anyway, Snow White is a unique character that has existed with different names and backgrounds, possibly since ancient Greece. The most well-known version is the Grimm Brothers' German version, but as mentioned earlier, we find variations of the tale in Italy, France, and other regions.
The original Grimm's version of Snow White was written during the 1800s, in the Victorian era. This was a time of particular austerity, where society considered sexuality to be the pinnacle of evil. Both women and men were expected to maintain chastity to appear more "noble" in the eyes of society. An interesting detail is that Snow White was 13 to 15 years old in the story, essentially a child. Like any child, she was vulnerable to a world of violence, symbolized by the hunter, the forest, and the evil queen. These elements were metaphorically used by our European ancestors to caution young girls to stay away from troubles. The adversaries in Snow White metaphorically represented a way for families to teach their daughters to avoid wars, politics, and violent individuals, much like the wolf in Little Red Riding Hood represented a pervert or sexual deviant.
The dwarves symbolized the common people, the workers-individuals like farmers and laborers who formed the backbone of villages and European society during that era. The fairy tale's message is simple: "Dear daughter, I understand you may not like this village of fishermen (or miners, or farmers) with their ignorance and lack of education. However, these people provide you with protection and sustenance daily; repay them with hospitality."
The blue prince merely symbolizes love; his character lacks substantial dialogue and importance compared to Snow White and the dwarves. Throughout the tale, there is no subjugation of women or hidden message advocating female subservience to men. It's worth noting that Snow White, the "innocent" character, makes the difficult decision to escape her home and live in a dark forest with strangers. Yet, her kindness, politeness, and manners endear her to the beasts and the rough dwarves, who come to love her deeply.
Regarding the issue of skin color, races, and similar matters, let me share my general perspective, not just about Snow White. This fairy tale was conceived at a time when Europe was inhabited predominantly by Europeans, primarily white people. This contrasts with today's diverse ethnicities and backgrounds. Given its historical context, I believe it's appropriate for the characters to reflect the time and place of their origin.
I don't view this stance as racist. It's akin to making a movie about Anansi the spider, an African folk figure, with a white character, or depicting African princesses in the 1400s wearing traditional clothing but interpreted by white people. Such portrayals would indeed seem ridiculous and insensitive. Therefore, my question is: If Disney and others who advocate for social justice wish to elevate American minorities, why not create movies based on the fairy tales from their own countries? Why must European culture constantly be altered in the name of integration? I am open to welcoming individuals from all corners of the world into European culture, but altering my heritage and history under the guise of political correctness or American issues makes me feel threatened, humiliated, and apprehensive about the fate of my culture. Misrepresenting the past can lead to dire consequences, as demonstrated by the lies propagated by the Nazis regarding a supposed Aryan master race. Frankly, I've reached my limit with these instances originating from America that seem to disparage European culture.

My guess is that the powers-that-be in Disney simply lack the raw talent to offer anything better than faded facsimiles of previous accomplishments - so much so that they can't even recognize better from worse. Sort of like a tone deaf singer blundering their way through karaoke night. The "spice" of race-swapping, gender-swapping, and any other similarly subversive surprises happen to be the only trick this pony knows. Expecting anything else at this point would be expecting to wring blood from a stone. As you are, I am also over it.
