To everyone who have given their time and effort to restore what’s left of Clowne Railway Station, you have created a magnificent tribute to the long lost railway line. Very best wishes from Sittingbourne, Kent 😊
Highland Scotland. My parents are from Derbyshire & Grandad was chief electrician at Butterley pit before the NCB. Enjoying all your videos, thanks very much for doing them.
Great video Paul. I've passed through Clowne quite a few times on my bike on the railway path and have ALWAYS made sure to stop and look at both stations, especially this one as it's enjoying its restoration. Nice to see a signal also added to the former Clowne and Barlborough one a while ago... wonder if they find anything else to include. Keep it up mate.
Thanks to your videos here I called in at Clowne to have a look at this excellent heritage project on a trip from my Merseyside home down to Notts last week.
Hello Paul and everyone else who is involved with this "project" - the locomotive looks splendid, as does the other renovation work. Best wishes from Sleaford, Lincolnshire UK
Great seeing this station being renovated. I think it works really well with the greenway as it turns to the left. I lived, studied and worked in Sheffield for a while and have fond memories of the area but I now live on the borders of London and Surrey.
Hi Paul, this project has come on leaps and bounds! Amazing work done by the volunteers! I’m watching your videos from Brisbane, Australia 🇦🇺 (Originally from Leicester). keep the videos coming! 😊👍
Nice progress since the beginning. Very impressive progress and beautiful rebuilding. Thanks for the video, Paul. Always appreciate them! Watching from the U. S. A. Cheers Paul! 🇬🇧🙂👍🇺🇸
Hi from the West Midlands, So Great seeing Old Railway Stations being Restored in some Capacity... My Nearest Heritage Railway is the Chacewater Railway... I'm to see so many Disused Railways or Station Sites being brought back to Life.
YT front page doing its magic again, I reckon - I'm from That London but I went through Clowne & Barlborough station on an enthusiast railtour of Notts collieries some 30-odd years ago, on the way to Barrow Hill, not forgetting a quick run in and out of Oxcroft Disposal Point - also always recognised this place from frequent drives past on the A616 - subbed to a few industrial archaeology channels, so this, from my POV, is a gem - keep doing what you're doing, thank you \m/
Thanks very much 🙂👍 Sounds like a brilliant railtour. Shame it can never be repeated. I've walked and filmed those lines in their disused state recently.
I live in Torquay but my gdad was a loco driver thro Clowne . As usual you present an interesting informative view of how railways shaped our lives . Lovely to think of the next generation enjoying railway history .
Made a great job looking well use to go to secondary school in Clowne and sometimes did cross country running on some of the old track bed further up thanx for sharing again Paul.Watching from Worksop.
Watching from Mansfield, Notts. Cycled round trip to Hollingwood along Canal past Staveley and back via Poolsbrook then up Clowne Greenway and back via Whaley/Shirebrook. After steady climb up the Clowne Greenway, was ready for a coffee in Clowne. Also completed this route in other direction. There ought to be a cafe in the old station building. I've explored up the ramp, there's a pub but nothing else that looks inviting for cyclists! Maybe that new sign board could give directions to a cafe?
Hi Paul, great update from Clowne, it looks fab doesn't it? The loco looks amazing. & the memorial poppies too, nice touch having the poppy in the corner of the screen Paul. Best wishes from Whiston, South Yorkshire. ❤😊
Great video mate, it’s good what they’ve done with the restoration, it may “seem” pointless but it’s a part of the town’s history and deserves some attention. I’m from Congleton, East Cheshire.
@@WobblyRunner Yeah plenty of potholes here in East Cheshire, thankfully on a bike you’ve got a better chance of avoiding many of them. Derbyshire has great roads for biking, particularily the Peak District. Whereabouts are you from?
@@willswheels283 Im from the other side of Derbyshire. Practically Nottinghamshire really I suppose. Going over towards Sherwood Forest. Plenty of nice roads around here and a lot quieter than the peaks :)
What a transformation, brilliant. That area has been turned around just a shame there is not two platforms and little cafe they will do a roaring trade during the summer with the walkers.
They are doing a great job with the restoration aren't they. We always enjoy your videos, oh and we're down the road in Chesterfield. Well I'm off to grab a cuppa and a biscuit, I've got to catch up with a couple of your latest videos. Give my grandson's Dylington Model Railway channel a quick watch, it features his model railway and some exhibitions and heritage railways, comments turned off to protect him though. Cheers James 🙂👍
All this stuff (big and small) is part of our national heritage. We invented the modern railway and played a key part in the global industrial revolution. Too many things have been swept away and had a concrete box plonked down in top of them and called 'luxury flats'. So places like Clowne Station are part of our rich historic tapestry - Jenny the Scouser in that there London.
Hi Jenny. I believe they're trying to get this station building listed. There were recently plans for the road to be widened and straightened, cutting straight through the station site.
