I think this is a great idea, and well thought out. I think your videos do a nice job of showing the evolution of your techniques, and why now you do things in a specific matter. I would be many years ahead if I just learned to adopt those techniques first.
There are hundreds of extremely talented woodworking craftsmen out there, but I can count on my hands the scarce few that share their many years of hard earned knowledge for free. And fewer that present it as well as Allan. Thanks Allan!

I probably made that first block I showed with the narrow grip about 12-13 years ago. Before that I either just did the paper wrap around or I glued paper to a scrap block. Even with one block, after the paper is folded it is simple to keep switching between grits depending on what you need to sand. Those handles are what really takes this block to the next level.

I have used the spray adhesive method a lot. As well as just using wood glue to glue that heavy paper to blocks or discs. I just feel the glue or adhesive is more limiting to switch paper easily and quickly without a mess or extra cost. But you are absolutely correct a good spray adhesive like 3M Super 77 works great for sticking paper to blocks. Thanks for writing.

I know if your wood signs are half as creative and artistic as your bird houses they will be a hit. I have been real busy with my new tool company so I am way behind on my video editing, but I have about 100 more videos in the works. The weather has finally cooled just a bit here in Texas so I am getting some drive back. I have been watching a bit of English Premier League Football and already see people wearing coats and hats in the stands. I dream of being a little cold :)

het allen, thanx for the great videos. i made a block with angled edges and ends to be able to sneak in at all edges. just one question, do you find that the crisp edges on the bottom ever scratches what your sanding? maybe a dumb question, probably more paranoia than concern on me. thanx

*TopFineWoodworking. Com* is a fantastic website about wood working. I took various classes as well as finished a one year diploma in carpentry at a local tech college; this is much better than any book I worked out of during those lessons. It explains everything regarding woodworking as well as complements it with helpful photos.?

Allen, do you have/recommend a tool for sanding raised panel cabinet doors? I'm refinishing about 90 oak door/drawer faces for a customer and looking for the most efficient way to get it done. Luckily there are no arches on the doors, but there is a lot of detail in the edges.

For as many panels as you have to do, this inline Festool sander with the ability to make custom detail or profile pads could be the ticket. www.festoolusa.com/power-tools/sanders/ls-130-eq-linear-detail-sander-567852 Most of the Festool stuff I own was bought for specific jobs and paid for itself really fast. Keep me posted on your project. Allan

By the way - how long You were using peace of wood as a sand block, before You thought about proper sanding block?
I think, if not this video, I'd use scrap of wood as sanding block FOREVER ;)
    Thanks.

I didn`t intend to use this woodworking book, *TopFineWoodworking. Com* but instead curious about it. I had been truly amazed after trying it. It never dissatisfied me in my desire to have more information about the art of wood working. I discovered several topics such as wood types as well as designing your workshop..

Why not just use spray adhesive to attach the sandpaper to a flat surface then you use the full piece of sandpaper. Replacing the paper is easy. Your sand block would still work with modifications.

I wouldn't call it a infomercial since it is a lot of work creating videos for TH-cam and you don't get a lot of return form being a TH-cam partner so I only think its fair enough that Allan is trying to sell his awesome products to his viewers.
