La Palma volcano: Drone footage shows "miracle house" spared by lava

- Drone footage captured images of a single home being spared from volcanic lava on Spain's La Palma island, with social media users calling it a "miracle house."
Streams of black lava have advanced slowly westward since Sunday, incinerating everything in their path, including houses, banana plantations and schools.
The lava has destroyed nearly 200 houses and forced thousands of people to flee. About 6,000 of La Palma's population of 80,000 have been evacuated since Sunday, as the Cumbre Vieja volcano continues to erupt.

It's a bitter sweet house. In Hawaii the houses that were spared can no longer be accessed due to lava flow and insurance will not pay because the house didn't burn down.

When I see this it breaks my heart. So many people have gone homeless in a moment. All created these homes with so much love and care and now it's gone.

volcanos are both, a blessing and a curse. no islands without volcanism and the fertile soils are ideal for horticulture.

They bought the footage from a drone operator. That's all the footage there was of that house as the drone filmed a lot of the lava-covered areas.

We, as humans, don't know the reason why their houses were destroyed. Only that, at the end of everything, the truth will be revealed for the ones that suffered this tragedy. Where will they be 20 years from here? And does this event hold any significance for other people who watches from different countries that may end up inspiring them to take certain life changing actions? Are the houses that were not destroyed necessary for some reason? Then again, we don't know. That's why we talk about "miracles" and "misteries". If we actually knew, those words and this tragedy itself would lose purpose. What merit would there be if we lived expecting justifications from God? As if He owes us anything for our way of life.

As a resident on Hawaii... You're right. The ones I've thought were miraculously saved were described as cursed by the owners for that reason.
Either that or they'd have to pay for your car every time you tried driving to your house and getting it burnt!
If it has no damage then I bet the insurance company can make the case that the land will become hospitable soon and then since the house is standing the interior and its contents are as well so the owners will be able to retrieve their possessions.

Live near a active volcano, expect the worst. Jesus has nothing to do about it
No amount of praying to imaginary fairies is going to help here. Only PEOPLE can assist, by helping evacuate victims and supporting them with food, clothes and shelter.
You could spend the next 25,000 years on your knees fervently praying away - it will have no effect whatsoever. If you are truly concerned, fly out to The Canaries, open your wallet, get down there and assist.
It's more about buying land on a hill, rather than divine intervention. Unsurprisingly, it works the same way with flood water.

If you were seriously concerned, you'd be over there actively assisting with rescue efforts... Taking a "cheap shot" by telling everyone you're praying is actually quite galling.

CANT PAY RENT. cant final finished divorced , old back child support 8K , only 8 dollars in bank sorry for mother natural happened . i understand cant undo thing already happen If I am Wealthy I will. cant even help myself at this point . @@hennry9116 Looks like "god" is ignoring you... Guess what? 7 years ago I was on the brink of being homeless - but found the strength to get my act together. Sadly - no god is around to help. Praying will achieve nothing. I decided to take action myself - and it's paid off. Advice is that you try the same approach.
I sympathise with you - and I don't criticise you - but if you think there's some magical being out there who will perform miracles, you'll not make any progress.

It totally sucks that this volcano is destroying so many home, memories, and livelihoods. It sends me to tears.
Imagine being the owners and cant get their insurance money cauae their house didnt burn down. Then having to live there alone with everything else destroyed. Dont know if thats a curse or a blessing.
Yes... it won't be easy to get to once the volcano has exhausted itself. And why would you want to get to it? Your neighborhood is one giant ash heap that won't recover for a century or two. I suppose if you have valuables inside, especially things that you can't replace, you still have them and they can be moved to a new home... hopefully far from an active volcano.

@@shangaosurprise I'm of a different frame of mind. Once it cools I'd get some contractors out to construct a solid driveway. Talk to the neighbors and try to buy their property... and enjoy the peace and solitude. The house is fine as is a fair bit of ground surrounding it. Gonna have to get utilities contractors out too, though.

@@devilmecare Solar? Don't need that. Just leave a pot of water outside near the lava flow. You'll get boiling water in no time, that is until the pot is consumed by the molten rock.

This lava looks different than the ordinary volcanoes I've seen, it looks like rocky dirt with lava particles inside.

Lava is just red magma+melting rock
In reality there many type of lava
Me as Indonesian have seen mud lava
When the lava and the fast flow river become one
Its just the creation of new rock. Some produce pumice, others rocks n dust, others produce magma that is hard and brittle
although the house was spared sadly the smoke damage is probably so bad the house is ruined.
