26th February 2024 - Weekly Market Report with Andrew Lockwood

It's a relatively quiet week this week in terms of macro data with the main focus being on the US Personal Consumption Expenditure on Friday (PCE). This is the main measure of inflation that the Fed considers when assessing its interest rate policy. Analysts are expecting the core PCE to show again of 0.4% up from 0.2% the month prior. This week's data will be of particular importance in light of the strong Consumer Price Index numbers released last week and the super strong Non-Farm Payroll date release a couple of weeks ago. If prices come in as expected or even higher that expected, we could expect to see the US dollar remain firmly bid. If however, prices miss to the downside the US dollar could follow yields lower.
