The most direct translation of Panel De Pon I can think of would be "Panel Pop", so Yoshi's Panel Pop might have been a good title. Panel Pop might even be what the series would be called today if Pokémon Puzzle League didn't give it its English name.
Tetris Attack's name is definitely a product of its time. People back then just associated falling block puzzle games in general with Tetris. It was good for sales at the time, but it's definitely caused some problems for re-releases in the long run. Still, how hard is it really to just change the logo at the title screen to "Yoshi's Puzzle League"?

Theres a hidden difficulty. You basically HAVE to keep chains going in it or you lose. Iirc you hold a sequence of buttons in the difficulty selection screen to unlock it.

Yup. And the background for it is red. When I saw him have a magenta background hard mode, I went, "why isn't it red?"

If this was canon I would say this is before super mario world but after super mario bros 3 or maybe this could be after super mario world and before super mario 64 I don't know and this probaly isn't canon
