    Aloha. You might know this already but thousands of Puerto Ricans moved to Hawaii in the early 1900’s to work on the sugarcane plantations. There’s a sizable number of Hawaiians with Puerto Rican blood in them. Having been to both islands I can attest to many similarities, although there are significant differences; for instance, it helps to know some Spanish (which shouldn’t be too difficult for a Filipina). ¡Bienvenidos!

    • @jamesxpri
      @jamesxpri  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a ton! Yeah absolutely we feel so lucky to be able to live in this area. It’s incredible. So the prices are quite similar to Hawaii when it comes to groceries, there are a couple things that are more expensive “specialty foods” and like meat/ milk, but there are some things cheaper here in PR. Rent is a lot more affordable in PR compared to Hawaii, it’s get ten very expensive there especially on the north shore where we lived. You pay for the life you live but it’s beautiful. Surprising utilities are similar electricity can cost a bit more in Hawaii, but water is pretty cheap. Gas is cheaper in PR. And real estate is alot more affordable in PR. Activities are more expensive in Hawaii, but there are alot of free community events and things going on, still want to explore more of that here in PR. All in all I would say PR is cheaper, but they are both amazing in ways. Thanks for the sub , hope we can provide meaning full insight and good laughs for you here.

    I see that you live in Puerto Rico, I understand why, it’s such a beautiful island and a peaceful place to live, but you living their is hurting the native people and economy in so many way. white people are buying up land in Puerto Rico, such as Logan Paul buying archers of land, and Brock Pierce buying apartment buildings native Puerto Rican live in, and kicking them out leaving them to be homeless. This might not seem like a problem to you because you never had a place to call home and never had a culture that is so precious to you, but native Puerto Rican are having to leave the island because rich white people are moving here because it’s so called “tax heaven”, this is a big problem because the more rich white people that move there the higher the economy becomes and forces native Puerto Rican to flee our island. This is what happened to Hawaii, there only 10.1% of Hawaiians left on there island and the rest rich people, but Puerto Ricans still have a chance to reclaim what ours, so please do us a favor and yourself and favor and leave puerto rico. In puerto rico the protest are getting bigger and and gangs are getting involved so it’s best for both parties.

Puerto Rico taught a lot and how to live. We worked with local Puerto Ricans which we became good friends with and provided income for them and families in some creative projects and collaborations and actually made their lives better. Of course we are not from their , we are grateful for out rime there and respect the people and now we have left.

      Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States. It became a U.S. territory in 1898, when it was acquired from Spain after the Spanish-American War. With approximately 3.4 million residents, Puerto Rico is the most highly populated of all United States territories. People who are born in Puerto Rico are U.S. citizens.
