  • Client Comment: "My crock pot died." The bowl and lid were being given away. I asked for the dead Crockpot too.
Spoiler Alert: A capacitor had exploded on the circuit board. It took me FOREVER to find it because I thought I would find a blown thermal fuse someplace.

Thanks for the video! Very well done! My crock pot stopped working so I opened it and I found two issues: 1) the spring holding the metal ring around the pot is broken, Where can I order such a wire? 2) the glass diode NTC connector were disconnected. How can I reconnect them together? Martin

The spring is not terribly critical. Depending on where it broke, you may be able to stretch the remaining part, bend a hook in the end, and reconnect it.
I am not sure I follow the NTC question?

TY, took mine all apart cleaned everything up and it just started working.. still not entirely sure why it wasn't? It was blinking but wouldn't go to four or six it just continually blinked but now it's working!

I wish I had a dime for every time we "fixed" something by cleaning it.

I had a crockpot that i bought like 7 years ago for $20 new from the store and been using it every day the past year and a fuse burned out on it (it was burnt black) when I went to buy the same one again it was triple the price everywhere!!!
things are so expensive now 😮‍💨

Sometimes thrift stores have them for cheap

True. One of the reasons, I try to repair stuff.

Does it matter which side the blue wire and the red wire go on on the cord I have a wide Peg and an airplane on the plug-in which side goes to the blue and red blue and red

The wide side of my 110v US plug (neutral) goes to both one end of the heating element and the circuit board. The narrow side of the plug (hot) goes to power the circuit board low and high voltage needs. A red wire runs from my circuit board to the other end of the heating element. Beware: Yours may be different.

I took apart the knob mechanism on a Rival crockpot and now can’t figure out how to put it back together. 😢

Try to find a schematic or even an illustrated parts breakdown on something like eraplacementparts.com. Sometimes they are clear enough to give you a hint.

My crock pot died. Different brand, but same makeup. Where would I find the replacement capacitor?

I know it has been a while since you asked, but I find a lot of my parts on ebay or aliexpress if I can wait a month for delivery. Digikey if I can't.
