First of all.The V10s and V8s werent really that efficent.Unlike the V6 Hybrids which could go on for many many races.(except for the 2015 to 2017 Honda engine).

@@AdamTheMan1993 2009 Ferrari was a great looking car as well as the RB6. that 2011 McLaren was a looker also. Then you have the 2012 Lotus which looked great. They were much more elegant than today's cars that are big and bulky.

I have no idea how current cars are going to look old in a few decades... We would always say current cars look the best but when we look back, it’s never the same we thought
I think they're going to look pretty ages just ten years from now. They're too square and the basic shape of mononoque has been there for at least 25 years, so there are quite a few things to change for the future look of F1.

Nowadays cars are too long which makes overtaking more difficult specially in tight tracks like Monaco
One day they'll be too long to even take the corners in Monaco xD
The main reason they're so long now Is because there's no refuelling, which makes a larger tank necessary in order to fit all the fuel necessary. You can check a side by side comparison of the 2009 car and the 2010 car to see what I mean

@Jon Lenin the sound of the f1 car is the sole. Kill that and there's nothing emotional to like. The 6 just does not sound anything like the v8,v10,v12.

@@motof1fan137 and not as encumbered by FIA regs. We have composites now, engines that are far more efficient than the old ones and we don't have drivers dying every other race. I love the noise they made but it's over.

Crazy to think that in the 1950s aerodynamics were a blip in their worries whereas now it is one of the deciding factors of a teams success
Aerodynamics were important in the 1950s as well as you can see by the bullet shape of the car to reduce drag. However, they did not know nearly as much back then about aerodynamics.
Also, engines were still improving at a rapid pace back then. So it might well have been the case that focusing on the engine delivered better performance gains than focusing on aerodynamics would have given.

Always been true, really -- that overall quality of the car and hardware and/or tech, and engines matter most, rather than merely the dynamics. That was their focus and for good reason. That's why almost every single one of the best F1 drivers of all time had the best cars. Has nothing to do with the dynamics and everything to do with the money, team, company, engines, and overall perfection of everything and everybody involved. This is also why the richest companies/teams/drivers did the best and this has not changed. Everybody knows F1 is about money. Even Senna was very rich from Brazil with the best possible cars during the 1980s and early 1990s.

More efficient engines mean revving that high is just a waste
It shows how in 1968, they discovered aerodynamic downforce, but were all over the place for the first 20 years before it was understood.

V10 and V12 music to my ears. V8 ok. V6 terrible. Miss the old days when you could hear a v10 or v12 screaming past you.

This is supposed to be just an animated line art, so trying to put the wheels from the other side of the car visible is not needed. Also, at the latter part, there was also no need to "rotate" the car a bit. A perfect side view would have been the way to go here.
