Thanks! As you know from the review I think it's worth it, but I understand where you are coming from. It's tough to pay that much for a bottle. Cheers
This bottle mystified me. First 3 pours I had of it, it didn't blow me away. So I sent a wild turkey blind to 12 people. It included RR15, RR13, WT Triumph, WT Voyage, and WT Rare Breed NCF. As soon as I gave away half my bottle, I fell in love with it lol. Most of those 12 people picked the RR15 as the winner. The best bottle I've had was last week in AZ when I was fortunate enough to have several pours of the 2023 GTS from a friend.
@whiskeyisajourney I want to say I have around 8oz left which I'll have to save for best of the year tasting. I don't have a backup, but I'm going to a lottery thing this Saturday, so who knows what I'll win!
Great review. I've only had small pours of RR 15 at bottle shares and it's pretty good! As for my favorite bottles that I've been able to purchase this year: - Indri Diwali 2023 LE Single Malt - Jack Daniels 10 year batch 3 - Corbin Cash 9.5 year merced rye 2Ten90 single barrel
I found a bottle recently, but have yet to open it. I was able to find a Russell’s Reserve 10 year laser code LL/ME bottled 05/20/2024. It is the best bottle of this Russell’s 10, I’ve ever had. Flavors are boosted. The theory posed by Rare bird 101 is that they used barrels that didn’t quite make the cut for RR 15 in these bottles. Probably just another conspiracy theory, however.
I don't know how valid this is or not but I heard the 10-year-old had some of the 13-year-old in it. I'm with you. I would like it to be a little bit higher proof.
I thought there was going to be more available, but I have never seen a bottle in stores. I expected to see them early in the release but never did. That's unfortunate.
Absolute banger of a bottle. $250 for me here in CT before taxes. Most ive spent on one bottle and I am incredibly happy I did. Sip of the year? Not quite..I was able to try one of the Four Roses Father's Day 16 year old single barrel barrel proofs. It is almost like the RR15 in reverse, the spice is the first thing to hit your senses then the flavors unfold on all parts od your tongue afterwards. Much more limited releases but that was 5+ star bourbon in my book.
I don't think you have. Standard release is fine. Based on what I've heard the 10 year old contains some 13 in it as well. Every bottle i have from them i like.
It seemed like they had to dump a lot this year to either plan for the future or something, so it is very likely there won't be a 15 release like this again. If they do it again, the amount of bottles they yield will probably be much less.
Wow, what a review Peter. I would expect "Near Perfection" from Wild Turkey. Can I buy a 2cl sample from you..?!?! Retail asking price for this bottle in SoCal is about $499.99..!!! I can only imagine what it would go for on the secondary market. The best whisk(e)y I've had this year is the Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye.
Best thing I have tasted. I was lucky to get 5 bottles of RR 15. I have drank some and sampled out 2 and 1/2 bottles to friends and family who have not been able to find or try it. 🥃
I bought a pour of 15. You are right about it. I would like to see it win the #1 pour of the year
It's fantastic!
I have an unopened first bottle of the 13, paid 50 bux for it.... I just cant justify anything over 150/175... is my limit. Great review.
Thanks! As you know from the review I think it's worth it, but I understand where you are coming from. It's tough to pay that much for a bottle. Cheers
@@whiskeyisajourney. I would love to have one…. I’m happy you got one through your total wine…. I miss that place. Cheers
Could not agree with your review more. Great job!
Thanks! Cheers.
Still looking for this one in Michigan. Saw one in Kentucky a month ago but was out of cash.
I hope you find one. Cheers!

How much of the bottle do you have left? Do you have a backup? I can't say this enough...I love this bottle!

@FantasySoldier good luck!

Not familiar with most of what's on your list. I'm glad you found some great bottles this year!
Nice review! I was able to get one for 325.00 out the door here in California at my local BevMo and I agree it’s fantastic! Cheers!
It's just about everything I want in a whiskey. Cheers!

If you got a good bottle that's what matters.
I saw the proof statement and immediately felt like I needed this. It’s the one thing stopping the 10 year from being a 10/10 for me.

@ it definitely is a steal for its price point so I’d believe it. Hopefully we can see something closer to 101-110 in the future
👍👍👍
Thanks
Appreciate the review, I would love to get my hands on a bottle at some point.

Nice! I am happy to hear you had a chance to get the 15. The Four Roses was even better? That has to be one incredible bourbon. Cheers!
$313 out the door in Washington state. The store had three bottles. I'm thinking I need another one 🥃
It would be nice to have a backup. Cheers!
I need this in my life. Have I asked in the past what the standard bottlings of this are like?
I don't think you have. Standard release is fine. Based on what I've heard the 10 year old contains some 13 in it as well. Every bottle i have from them i like.

Thank you! You are the first to donate this month so you get an extra entry. I'll put you down for 3. Best of luck.
@ That is wonderful, thank you

That's what I was thinking. I heard this release had a lot of bottles, but probably exhausted their supply.
RR15 and Mich10 bourbon
I am still waiting to see a Michter's 10 in my area. I see the toasted every now and then, but not the bourbon.
I’ve only seen RR15 for $499.99 near me. Haven’t pulled the trigger at that price.
Tough call. I didn't think I could do that either.
Hey Peter -
What lucky person won the Oct giveaway ?
The winner is announced this Friday before I do my bottle battle.
Wow, what a review Peter. I would expect "Near Perfection" from Wild Turkey. Can I buy a 2cl sample from you..?!?!

The JD SBBP rye is really good as well. IMO this is better. I know you are a big rye fan so that doesn't surprise me you feel that way. Cheers!
Another month another spin of the wheel....
Oh man.... Just wait until Friday. You are going to yell at me. 🤪 I appreciate the support and I have you down for 1 entry in November.

It's amazing! How the hell did you get 5 bottles? Lucky!
