John Tempest, Radial engines are very complicated compared to an automobile engine even today. Their are no college grads today that can build these radial engines without a computer. They know it. We know it.
The Philippines utilized T-28s (colloquially known as "Tora-toras") during the 1989 Philippine coup attempt. The aircraft were often deployed as dive bombers by rebel forces........ 40years later
for the love of god, just post the uncut straight gopro footage of the entire video from start up to shutdown if you have it. The inside shots and sound is awesome.
For a second I though it was Beth, the owner of Pilot's Choice Aviation in Georgetown Municipal in Georgetown TX. She's the same kind of Amazon that commands respect. She has had 2 B-25's and flies to airshows around the US. I think one is called "Devil Dog". She scared the crap outta me.

The pilots who fly these aircraft are both privilaged and carry massive responsibility, flying these virtually irreplacement examples of aviation history.
Those are beautiful, historic planes. They're also quite dated & limited spare parts available. I think they're wise to 'baby' them. Just wonderful to see them still in flight-worthy condition.
the10thleper, We will probably never know. Pratt Whitey R-28 was a bad boy. Most reliable radial made. Could go 6500 hrs without a rebuild. That's running 27-7 for 10 months
Supply chain is one of the most important factors in deciding how the military does things. The choice was as follows: 1. The aircraft has no critical engines so if it loses one (likely from being shot in which case he's probably screwed anyway) the pilot doesn't have as much to worry about. 2. One engine type, one set of parts, TOTAL interchangeability. If you have one set of parts left, if the left or right engine breaks, you can fix it. The clear choice is #2.
UNBELIEVABLE HOW ( NARROW ) THE FUSELAGE IS !!!! NO, BIG PILOTS NEED APPLY... THOSE RADIALS SOUND STRONG !!! THANKS FOR THE UPLOAD.. IT WOULD MAKE A SLICK R/C PLANE IF ANYONE MADE A KIT ??

@@capstevepoarch I think some multi-engine warbirds had counter engines, but yeah, the 'ease of parts and maintenance' is the reason most didnt and pilots just had to learn to deal with the torque.
They do. I dont know the specifics, but i imagine they try to keep the avionics as original as possible, but some things have to be updated to maintain airworthiness. Probably the radios transponder are on that list. But i also think it depends. I think most of the warbirds are on a special license that dont have *as* strict of requirements, but with the understanding that those planes can only be flown for the purpose of airshows (and support thereof) and not a "weekend/family flyer" like others would be.
If the aircraft had a sudden failure producing a violent turn, the pilot may bump her head and loose consciousness. That loss erases any chance of flight recovery. A helmet might prevent the loss of consciousness and the survival of the pilot. Or not. Whatever. It's your plane and your life.
There is something about this Tigercat That makes it look so 'Wicked'. Its amazing to watch.
She looks FAST just sitting on the ground with the engines off.

Very nice. Thank you for posting. A wonderful demonstration.
Beautiful lines
That airframe is just divine.
absolutely gorgeous and stunning
Fantastic! Thank you very much!
Glad you liked it!
The only thing better than a Tigercat is 2 Cats...absolutely stunning design.
I am in love. Pure elegance.

Nice vid.. Beautiful aircraft and total respect to Connie
It's too bad turbine jets had to come along and end it all. F7f & F8f are diamonds.

The DH Hornet was another outstanding Aircraft that came along too late.

Would love to be a passenger in one of those they look and sound awesome. Great footage thanks

Love these planes. Miss hearing prop planes in the sky.
You can still hear them....in the form of turboprops, Cessnas, Beeches, and Pipers :D
Nampa, 2019. Warbirds Museum. Had a great visit with Pilot and wife. Next year I want to be in the back seat. OK ? John from Canada.
What a cool aircraft. I want a Tigercat
Start saving your money! I mean a LOT of it! As it is even at big air shows they're quite rare.
raul duke , can't have one. Go to your room

Seen them both first hand at the EAA.
Just like a beaufighter, two engines followed by a pilot .

A beautiful woman and a beautiful aircraft. A great combination.
You men are all the same! You're not women!
This is awesome

For the life of me that things sounds like a dragster, just waiting to unleash all that power . . .
Couldn’t imagine being stationed at a naval air station when these planes were operational.
I have a 8X10 staged photo of these on a aircraft landing deck. Came in too late for WW2 but saw action in Korea
The fastest, most heavily armed interceptor/strategic fighter of the war.
[A cat]--->Have set (terrain-tracking radar and terrain-avoidance radar)?
Wow it's like watching a jokey slow trotting around belmont with Secretariat. Open her up a little, geesh.

what a stupid comment
What were the explosions in the background at 2:05?
TWO Tigercats? I had no idea, there can't be that many in flying condition........or otherwise
There are around 6 in flying shape now...
I was wondering if there was a crash? I saw a plume of black smoke
F7F not F-7F. The F-7 designation is the Convair SeaDart.

With ADS-B midair collisions at these airshow should be a thing of the past right??
Terrific!
Such a beautiful design. Wonder what it could do with two inline Merlin engines?
the pratt and whittney r2800's have more power than the merlins. This is about as good as it gets!

My dad flew these and the F6F before going to the AD Skyraider
4400hp - must be the closest thing to a "Pod Racer" from Start wars.... The acceleration must be incredible.
Just wondering why the engines are not counter-rotating... (#1 start 0:03) and (#2 start 0:34). I'm a newbie here so go gentle on me.

How is she not smiling ear to ear?
Didn't Connie and #374 have a wheel come off later at Oshkosh? Nice plane !
Bill Welter. Yes, both are fine.
A CATSKILL PRINCESS ...
Is she using joystick or does it have a wheel
Was the F7F obsolete by the Korean War?
Only one marine squadron used them early in the war for night interdiction 2 confirmed P02 kills
I believe it's a joystick.
that would be correct

A WOMAN & SWEET MACHINE WOW WOW .. AMAZING.
A woman driver... Scary
I favor prop planes....jets are just too sterile.....just like flying blow torches.
Jerry Miers, this fighter is the most agile in history. Probably didn't want to use it in the War because they didn't want to end it that quick
Thought it had counter rotating props
thats only south of the equator
They did early on, but switched because it's easier on the supply chain if engine parts are interchangeable

Nah, just give me an F-14!!! 😆😆😆😆

A woman flying vintage warbirds? That's something you don't see everyday.. most women like their feet on the ground
@Jeffrey Janzer why are u butthurt? I was just stating a fact
@Jeffrey Janzer let me know the statistical numbers of male vs female pilots.. Then come talk
She flew 757s for a living . Type rather in B-17 , B-24 a regular pilot for Jack Roush P-51 and the tigercat also in the EAA hall of fame .
