I'm guessing that's a glitch from the production company's tapes. From what I understand, the BBC makes the programme under licence from Sony, but the BBC has nothing to do with this channel. It's run and the clips are put together by a team either in Japan or the US (hence some of the US spelling in the titles). Columbia (as in the film company) turned into Sony Television (and CPT is Columbia's holding company). Anyway, probably far more info than you wanted.

She was professionally dissected because, despite her enthusiasm and entrepreneurial bent, she has absolutely no business nous. The Dragons were very patient and walked her through her figures. Even that flopped so poorly she conceded " I wouldn't invest (in myself)". Yes, bless her ❤

She prepared for turnover, profit questions because that's what they always ask. They rarely ask about assets & she was the one that brought it up 4:13. I think she was in shock that's all they kept asking 😄

Peter Jones was spot on at the end - she needs an accountant as partner, advisor or finance director. Even a book-keeper could show her the basic discipline of profit and loss, assets and liabilities. I don't know how she has survived for 15 years of dealing with taxes such as VAT and corporation or income tax.

I 100% agree with Peter. She should have had an accountant, and she should have brought them on with her to help her make the pitch. She might have an amazing business, or it might be terrible, but she doesn't know her numbers, and so it's impossible for the dragons know her numbers, and that's what matters.

Why do they never allow entrepreneur's to bring in thier financial statements? I'm a management accountant and month in, month out, I don't just sit in there and wing it with the Budget Holders. I take the forecast and actual spend with me.
Ive had the same thought as well but ive come to a conclusion that if they were allowed to bring in written notes or fin statements,everyone is gonna start doing that which would derail from the objective which is a verbal presentation
Though the main reason behind disallowing financial statements is to add drama, I definitely wouldn’t want to invest in someone who can’t remember the basic statistics of their business during a financial presentation.
